A Study on the Physical Measurement Method for the Development of Bicycle Fitting Integrated System

  • Bicycle fitting used to depend on empirical adherence of bicycle Peter and intuitive judgment by hand, but recent developments in industry and the Fourth Industrial Revolution have continuously developed other related tools that can be applied to bicycle fitting. Depending on these circumstances, bicycle fitting technology is also developing, and due to the difficulty of the technicians, there is a limit to popularizing. The Bicycle Integrated Fitting System has the need for this study to make these problems easy for anyone to operate by the system of manual. The purpose of this study is to examine the methods of physical sizing among the various stages of developing these systems. Accurate physical measurements can improve the efficiency of bicycle riding and minimize the injury of bicycle risers issued by incorrect fittings. Thus, in this study, physical measurement methods for bicycle fitting were derived by body region and applied to the post-measurement fitting as well as the location and method of measurement. It has prepared a basis for establishing a core database for physical measurement of development of integrated bicycle fitting system. Research was conducted to enhance understanding and utilization of users after system development and results were derived for the purpose of the study. Research was conducted to establish a database for the development of a bicycle integrated fitting system, and future research on bicycle fitting methods, application of the system, and hardware development should be carried out.

  • 본 논문에서는 자전거 피팅을 좀 더 정교하고 신속하게 진행하기 위해 자전거 피팅 소프트웨어와 하드웨어를 통합한 시스템을 개발하기 위한 DB구축을 목표로 포괄적인 자전거 피팅 방법의 표준화가 요구됨에 따라 다수의 임상결과와 실험을 통해 이에 맞는 자전거 피팅 방법을 제안한다. 이 자전거 피팅 방법은 심층상담, 자전거체크, 정교한 신체사이징 및 분석을 통해 라이더를 위한 자전거 세팅 값을 결정할 수 있으며 이 세팅 값으로 조정된 자전거에서 고정 라이딩을 통해 자세와 페달링 토크를 분석하고 이을 통해 가장 효율이 높은 세팅 값을 찾아 자전거를 라이더의 요구에 맞게 최적화 할 수 있는 피팅 방법에 대한 결과를 도출 했다. 이와 같은 피팅 방법은 자전거 라이더의 만족도를 높일 수 있으며 정확한 자전거 세팅 값을 통해 부상예방도 기대할 수 있다.

  • Recently, there has been a gradual increase in the number of people who are interested in cycling, leading to an increasing number of cycling equipment consumers. However, many bicyclists get hurt because of their lack of knowledge about the right size of bicycle for their body. Although it is necessary for a rider to fit their bicycle to prevent injury, they reject a fitting service because of the long hours and high cost. In this study, we propose a bicycle fitting system that uses a depth camera to improve the limitations of existing manual fitting systems. With the defined formula, the system calculates the size of the bicycle using body image information extracted by a depth camera and visualizes a customized bicycle for a specific consumer. This system will not only save the customer time and money, but will prevent injury from the use of a bicycle that does not fit.

  • 본 연구는 자전거에 의한 통증 및 부상의 원인과 종류 자전거피팅을 통한 통증 및 부상을 개선하고 재활방법을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 자전거에 의한 통증 및 부상은 크게 무릎, 발목부위 통증, 손목, 어깨, 목, 허리부위 통증, 엉덩이 통증으로 나눌 수 있다. 이러한 통증 및 부상의 원인은 잘못된 자전거피팅과 자세에서 비롯된다. 이러한 통증 및 부상을 개선하고 재발을 방지하기 위해서는 적절한 자전거피팅과 재활운동이 필요하다. 통증 및 부상은 운동성 통증과 고정된 자세에 의한 통증으로 나뉘며 운동성 통증의 경우 염증치료와 함께 재활운동이 필요하고 고정된 자세에 의한 통증은 정확한 신체의 특징을 이해하고 신체의 특징에 맞는 자전거 자세를 학습하고 연습해야 한다. 이런 방법을 통해 자전거 통증 및 부상의 재발을 예방하고 나아가 안전한 자전거 문화를 정립할 수 있는 환경을 조성하는데 이바지할 수 있다.

A Study on the Adjustment Method of Bicycle Shoe Cleat for Bicycle Fitting System

  • The nation's fraternity and elite players who have built up a global bicycle infrastructure often find it to be a problem with the bicycle's speed and speed reduction, pain in knees and hip joints, or even with the bike itself, or with the bike's own physical defects or a riding posture. However, we found that most cases of cleat adjustment errors were likely to be true. Accurate adjustment of the cleats is the most important of the entire fitting process and can be the basis for improving the ability of the bicycle rider and preventing injury. Therefore, the study was intended to give a prior study of bicycle fitting, which can improve bicycle efficiency and prevent injury when riding bicycle, and specific ways of adjusting bicycle shoe cleats, and the following results were obtained. First, the cleat characteristics of Shimano, LOOK and Speedplay, which are currently used in public, and the characteristics during the cleat adjustment process, were derived. In addition, the structure and characteristics of dedicated shoes using cleats and the method of using pedalling by the structure of shoes after adjusting the cleats were derived. Second, the position of the shoe and its relationship with torque in pedalling was discussed, and the method of adjusting front and back of cleats was derived. Third, leg length, ASIS, Q-Angle and Q-factor etc. were analyzed and the method of setting and adjusting cleat left and right values were derived. Fourth, the relationship between walking angle and cleat rotation was analyzed, the method was derived, and the torque size and angle behind the cleat adjustment were compared and analyzed using the spinner to indicate the torque and the effective mean torque angle after the cleat adjustment.

정적 자전거 피팅에 적용 가능한 체중 분포 측정장치의 구현 (Implementation of a Body Weight Distribution Measurement System Applicable to Static Bicycle Fitting)

  • Bicycle fittings have been used to ride bicycles comfortably while minimizing non-traumatic injuries. To analyze the cause of non-traumatic injuries, it is necessary to measure the body weight distribution in various biking positions. In this study, a weight distribution measurement system was implemented by installing five weighable devices on the saddle, both pedals, and both handle grips of a bicycle. To measure the body weight applied through the saddle, the structure of a commercial seat post was modified and a load cell was installed inside. Weighable pedals and handle grips were designed using a 3D modeling program and fabricated by employing a 3D printer. The body weight distribution for ten bicycle riders was measured when the two pedals were aligned horizontally and vertically. Experimental results showed that the body weight distribution varied significantly depending on human body shape, even after the bicycle fitting was completed. The difference between the body weight measured by the proposed system and a commercial scale was less than 3 %.

자전거 및 PMV(Personal Mobility Vehicle) 사용자의 주행 특성 및 헬멧 착용 실태 조사 (A Survey on Riding Characteristics and Helmet Wearing Conditions of Bicycle and PMV(Personal Mobility Vehicle) Riders)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in riding characteristics and helmet wearing conditions between bicycle and PMV riders so that the basis data necessary for the development of suitable helmets for each group is provided. For this purpose, riding characteristics and helmet wearing conditions of bicycle and PMV users were investigated using online survey method and then the survey results were interpreted by in-depth interview conducted for bicycle and PMV users. The online survey results showed that the PMV group showed shorter driving distance and more driving frequency than bicycle group. This short driving distance was due to the limitation of battery capacity of PMVs. Helmet wearing rate was significantly lower in PMV group than in bicycle group, which was associated with relatively low chances to drive long distance on the motorway. In the PMV group, the 'urban helmets' were mainly used, in which the appearance of helmet was priorized, but in the bicycle group, the 'road cycle helmets' were mainly used, in which the light weight or ventilation were priorized. Urban helmets caused stronger pain and more fitting problems than road cycle helmets because the head shapes of Koreans were not properly applied to the helmet design. Since the fitting problem and pain intensity were the important causes that making PMV users not wear the helmets, it is necessary to develop the urban helmets reflecting the head shapes of Koreans in order to increase the helmet wearing rate of the PMV users.

자전거 페달링 시 하지 정렬 평가를 위한 영상 시스템 개발 (Simple Camera-based Evaluation System for Lower Limb Alignment during Pedalling)

  • Simple camera-based system for evaluation of lower limb alignment as a part of an automated cycling fitting system was developed and verified in this study. Developed imaging system can evaluate lower limb alignment quantitatively during pedaling using a general camcorder and single marker attached on the knee. Threshold-based marker detection algorithm was proposed in this study. Experiment was carried out to compare the trajectory data from marker detection algorithm of the developed imaging system with the trajectory data from 3-D motion capture system. Results showed that average error between trajectories was 2.33 mm (0.92 %) in the vertical direction and 0.62 mm (1.86 %) in the medio-lateral direction. There existed significant correlation between two measured values (r=0.9996 in the vertical direction and r=0.9975 in the medio-lateral direction). It can be concluded that developed imaging system be applied to evaluate lower limb alignment which is an important factor for dynamic bicycle fitting.

개인 맞춤형 추천모듈을 위한 전신 신체사이즈 추출 (Extraction of full body size parameters for personalized recommendation module)

  • 인체측정학(Anthropometry)은 자동차, 가전제품, 의료기기 및 스포츠 용품 등 다양한 분야에서 소비자의 만족도와 사용 효율성을 최적화하기 위해 조사되고 연구되어 왔다. 하지만 아직까지 인체 측정 방식은 계측자를 이용한 직접측정 또는 스캐너나 디지털 측정기 등 고가의 장치에 의존적인 방법에서 벗어나지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 사진으로부터 신체인식 알고리즘을 이용하여 신체사이즈를 자동으로 추출하고, 의류추천 및 자전거 피팅사이즈 서비스 등에 활용가능성을 제시한다. 이를 위해 Haar-like features와 AdaBoost 알고리즘을 이용하여 빠른 속도와 높은 정확도로 영상콘텐츠 내에서 신체 영역을 검출한다. 이후 AAM(Active Appearance Model)을 이용하여 특징점을 검출하고 도출된 측정치에 최적화된 상품을 추천하는 지능형 모듈 시스템을 구현하고 성능평가를 제시한다.
