차분래티스 볼츠만 법을 이용한 저Mach수 흐름에서의 유동소음해석 (Numerical Simulation of Aeroacoustic Noise at Low Mach Number Flows by Using the Finite Difference Lattice Boltzmann Method)

  • In this study, we simulate the aerodynamic sounds generated by a two-dimensional circular cylinder in a uniform flow are simulated by applying the finite difference lattice Boltzmann method (FDLBM). The third-order-accurate up-wind scheme (UTOPIA) is used for the spatial derivatives. and the second-order-accurate Runge-Kutta scheme is applied for the time marching. The results show that we successively capture very small acoustic pressure fluctuations with the same frequency of the Karman vortex street compared with the Pressure fluctuation around a circular cylinder The propagation velocity of the acoustic waves shows that the points of peak pressure are biased upstream due to the Doppler effect in the uniform flow For the downstream. on the other hand. it quickly Propagates. It is also apparent that the amplitude of sound Pressure is Proportional to $r^{-1/2}$, r being the distance from the center of the circular cylinder. To investigate the effect of the lattice dependence furthermore a 2D computation of the tone noise radiated by a NACA0012 with a blunt trailing edge at high incidence and low Reynolds number is also investigated.

Shaking Motion Characteristics of a Cod-end Caused by an Attached Circular Canvas during Tank Experiments and Sea Trials

  • A shaking motion could be used to improve fish escapement from a cod-end net by creating a sieving effect over the swept volume or by disturbing the optomotor response of the fish. In this study, a perpendicular shaking motion was generated in a towed cod-end net by a circular canvas attached to the end of the codend, which formed a biased cap-like shape. This concept was tested by using a model in a flow tank and by towing a prototype cod-end during sea trials. For the model tests, the amplitude of the shaking motion was $0.6{\pm}0.1$ times the rear diameter of the cod-end, and the period of the shaking motion was $2.6{\pm}0.1$ s at a flow velocity of 0.6 or 0.8 m/s. In the sea trials, the amplitude was $0.5{\pm}0.2$ times the rear diameter of the cod-end, and the period of the shaking motion was $7{\pm}4$ s at towing speeds of 1.2 or 1.7 m/s. Thus, the shaking amplitude during the sea trials was equal to or less than that observed in the tank tests, and the shaking period was twice as long. The shaking motion described by the amplitude and period could be an effective means to stimulate fish escapement from cod-end during fishing operations considering the response of the fish.

  • Due to its short half-life, thoron gas has been assumed to have negligible health hazards on humans compared to radon. But, one of the decay products with a long half-life can make it to be transported to a long distance and to cause a severe internal dose through respiration. Since most commercial radon detectors can not discriminate thoron signals from radon signals, it is very common to overestimate radon doses which in turn result in biased estimation of lung cancer risk in epidemiological studies. Though some methods had been suggested to measure thoron and radon separately, they could not be used for real-time measurement because of CR-39 or LR-115. In this study, an effective method was suggested to measure radon and thoron separately from the free air. It was observed that the activity of thoron decreases exponentially due to delay time caused by a long pipe between two chambers. Therefore from two ion chambers apart in time, it was demonstrated that thoron and radon could be measured separately and simultaneously. We also developed a collimated alpha source and with this source and an SBD, we could convert the ion chamber reading to count rate in cps.

OBSERVING MAGNETIC FIELDS ON LARGE SCALES

  • Observations of magnetic fields on scales up to several Mpc are important for understanding cluster and large-scale structure evolution. Our current census of such structures is heavily biased - towards fields of several $\mu$G, towards fields in deep potential wells, and towards high inferred field strengths m cooling flow and other clusters from improper analysis of rotation measure data. After reviewing these biases, I show some recent results on two relics that are powered in very different ways. I describe new investigations that are now uncovering weak diffuse fields in the outskirts of clusters and other low density environments, and the good prospects for further progress.

  • The compressible laminar and turbulent viscous flows on a slender body in supersonic speed as well as subsonic speed have been numerically simulated at high angle of attack. The steady and time-accurate compressible thin-layer Navier-Stokes code based on an implicit upwind-biased LU-SGS algorithm has been developed and specifically applied at angles of attack of 20, 30 and 40 dog, respectively. The modified eddy-viscosity turbulence model suggested by Degani and Schiff was used to simulate the case of turbulent flow. Any geometric asymmetry and numerical perturbation have not been intentionally or artificially imposed in the process of computation. The purely numerical results for laminar and turbulent cases, however, show clear asymmetric formation of vortices which were observed experimentally. Contrary to the subsonic results, the supersonic case shows the symmetric formation of vortices as indicated by the earlier experiments.

  • The suitability of high-order accurate, central and upwind-biased compact difference schemes is evaluated for the large-eddy simulations of flows in complex geometry. Two flow geometries are considered: channel and circular cylinder. The effects of numerical dissipation and aliasing error on the evaluation of subgrid scale stress are investigated by extending the analysis by Ghosal (1) to centered and upwind compact schemes. It is shown that the failure of upwind schemes mainly comes from the aliasing error.

  • Superconducting tape easily can applied to distribution of electricity. It designs basic model of Saturable Reactor type Fault Current Limiter which used superconducting tape, and observes a specific character by means of simulation. Saturable Reactor type Fault Current Limiter is not influenced by saturation of Magnet core appeared in Induction Fault Current Limiter, because it exploit saturation of Iron core. But, it is possible that superconducting tape quenched when AC current flow to superconducting tape which biased DC voltage.

  • This paper reports a numerical method for determining the resistance and self-propulsion performance of an asymmetric pre-swirl stator used as an energy saving device by cancelling a propeller's rotational energy. The present asymmetric pre-swirl stator propulsion system consists of three blades at the port and one blade at the starboard, which can effectively recover the biased rotating flow. This paper provides the design concept for the present asymmetric stator, which produces more efficient results than a conventional propeller.

  • Nowadays traction motors in the urban rail transit vehicle are controlled by VVVF inverter and have capability of regenerative braking. The algorithms to deal with the regenerating vehicle in simulation for the DC traction power supply is introduced in this paper. Substations have to be separated from the system to represent reverse biased rectifiers in substations. The model of the trains in regenerative braking has to be changed from the ideal current source to the constant voltage source since the train input voltage has to be controlled below the certain train maximum voltage. Some mismatches are unevitable because the constraint of the regenerated power can not be imposed with the constant voltage source. The mismatches represent the unused regenerated power. A computer program is developed to verify the validity of the algorithm. The test run result shows the program behaves as it is expected and proves the algorithm's validity.

복사 간섭 보정을 통한 초고온 가스 온도 측정 방법 (Temperature Measurement Method with Radiation Correction for Very High Temperature Gas)

  • When a thermocouple is placed in a high temperature gas-flow stream, the measured temperature could be biased from the true gas temperature due to a large radiation heat loss from a thermocouple surface to its surroundings. In this study, two thermocouples of unequal diameters with 1/8 inch and 1/16 inch are used to correct the radiation effect. The method is called the reduced radiation error (RRE). The preliminary test results show that the radiation and the sheath conduction cannot be negligible for the gas temperature measurement. To minimize the sheath conduction effect, all the thermocouples will have a grounded junction and 1/8 inch thermocouple will be replaced with 1 mm thermocouples. In addition, the computational fluid dynamics code analysis shows that there is a negligible temperature difference between the positions where the thermocouples were installed.
