  • In order to develop a confident sampling technique, we designed and constructed a 6-port manifold MFC sampling system for collecting gaseous pollutants in air. Using this instrumentation, we tested the performance criteria of MFC system in terms of: (1) flow rate; (2) MFC-to-MFC variability; (3) tube-to-tube variability; and (4) time. It was interesting to find that the later two factors did not show any significant variations, while the former two show substantially large variations. However, as most of those variabilities are consistent enough to form systematic patterns, we were able to explain the occurrence patterns of all those MFC biases in terms of those four major variables. The overall results of our experiment suggest that one needs to use correction factor for each MFC unit under a given flow rate to maintain optimal accuracy and precision for sampling of those pollutants.

  • An advanced real-time satellite simulator (ARTSS) has been developed to support the ground operations activities of the ETRI satellite control system, such as testing of the system facilities, validation of flight control procedures, verification of satellite commands as well as training of the ground operators. The design of ARTSS is based on the top-down approach and makes use of a modular programming to ensure flexibility in modification and expansion of the system. Graphics-based monitoring and control facilities enhance the satellite simulation environment. The software spacecraft model in ARTSS simulates the characteristics of a geostationary communication satellite using a momentum bias three-axis stabilization control technique. The system can be also interfaced with a hardware payload subsystem such as Ku-band communication transponder to enhance the simulator capability. Therefore, ARTSS is a high fidelity satellite simulation tool that can be used on low-cost desk top computers. In this paper, we describe the design features, the simulation models and the real-time operating functions of the simulator.

  • The objective of this investigation is to formulate and carry out the topology optimization of a magnetic system consisting of permanent magnets and yokes. Earlier investigations on magnetic field topology optimization have been limited on the design optimization of yokes or permanent magnets alone. After giving the motivation for the simultaneous design of permanent magnets and yokes, we develop the topology optimization formulation of the coupled system by extending the technique used in structural problems. In the present development, we will also examine the effects of the functional form for permeability penalization on the optimized topology.

  • The necessity of the prediction on the Seasonal-to-Subseasonal (S2S) timescale continues to rise. It led a series of studies on the S2S prediction models, including the Global Seasonal Forecasting System Version 5 (GloSea5) of the Korea Meteorological Administration. By extending previous studies, the present study documents sea surface temperature (SST) prediction skill around the Korean peninsula in the GloSea5 hindcast over the period of 1991~2010. The overall SST prediction skill is about a week except for the regions where SST is not well captured at the initialized date. This limited prediction skill is partly due to the model mean biases which vary substantially from season to season. When such biases are systematically removed on daily and seasonal time scales the SST prediction skill is improved to 15 days. This improvement is mostly due to the reduced error associated with internal SST variability during model integrations. This result suggests that SST around the Korean peninsula can be reliably predicted with appropriate post-processing.

  • In this paper, we overview the system development status of the national maritime precise point positioning-real-time kinematic (PPP-RTK) service in Korea, also known as the Precise POsitioning and INTegrity monitoring (POINT) system. The development of the POINT service began in 2020, and the open service is scheduled to start in 2025. The architecture of the POINT system is composed of three provider-side facilities-a reference station, monitoring station, and central control station-and one user-side receiver platform. Here, we propose the detailed functionality of each component considering unidirectional broadcasting of augmentation data. To meet the centimeter-level user positioning accuracy in maritime coverage, new reference stations were installed. Each reference station operates with a dual receiver and dual antenna to reduce the risk of malfunctioning, which can deteriorate the availability of the POINT service. The initial experimental results of a testbed from corrections generated from the testbed network, including newly installed reference stations, are presented. The results show that the horizontal and vertical accuracies satisfy 2.63 cm and 5.77 cm, respectively. For the purpose of (near) real-time broadcasting of POINT correction data, we designed a correction message format including satellite orbit, satellite clock, satellite signal bias, ionospheric delay, tropospheric delay, and coordinate transformation parameters. The (near) real-time experimental setup utilizing (near) real-time processing of testbed network data and the designed message format are proposed for future testing and verification of the system.

  • In this paper, the development of the extended kalman filter(EKF) which is based on Koreasat-3 bus system is introduced and the design result is shown through the simulation. Especially to determine the filter gains for accurate estimation, there is assumed that initial estimated parameters are not changed. But although the satellite performs the attitude control by 2Hz, it is verified that the EKF is running rightly using the changed filter gains. Also some cases are considered using the simulation : with each bias for 4-axis gyro and with gyro each axis failure. It is verified that the designed filter can be used as the back-up about gyro failure.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of Virtual Reality(VR) program on recovery of functional in Stroke through systematic literature review and meta-analysis. The following databases were used to search the literature: RISS, KISS, KMbase. Keywords included 'stroke', 'CVA' 'virtual reality', 'rehabilitation', 'virtual reality program' and the evaluated articles were published from 2009 to November 2018. The statistical was used R program, the effect size of upper limb, balance and ADL were calculated by random-effects model. As a result, 9 RCT studies were meta-analyzed and were evaluated for the risk of bias by the RoB of Cochrane Collaboration; the overall risk of bias was low. The effect sizes of VR program was balance(g=.77), ADL(g=.80) as indicated by a "large effect size". Therefore, VR program is large effective in reducing balance and ADL in strokes. It is necessary to develop and apply a virtual reality-based program using more efficient program development.

  • With the development of IoT technology, wearable services have also developed rapidly. Wearable devices required for this service are used as sensors and controllers in the form of smart bands. Wearable devices implement very concise SWlogic for possible long-term use and use wireless communication protocols to improve convenience. However, because this wearable device aims to be lightweight, it is more vulnerable to security than terminals used for other information services. Many smart healthcare or smart medical services are passive or do not apply security technology. By exploiting this security environment, attackers can obtain or modify important information through access to wearable devices. In this study, we analyzed the technical operating environment of wearable services and identified authentication information reuse attacks, BIAS attacks, battery drain attacks and firmware attacks on wearable devices. And we analyzed the mechanism of each security threat and confirmed the attack effect. In this study, we presented a response plan to respond to the identified security threats. When developing wearable services, it is expected that safer services can be built if the response plan proposed in this study is considered.

  • It is necessary to minimize the thickness of Ni inner electrode layer and to improve the coverage of inner electrode, for the purpose of developing the ultra high-capacity multi layered ceramic capacitor (MLCC). Thus, low temperature sintering of dielectric $BaTiO_3$ ceramic should be precedently investigated. In this work, the relationship between dielectric properties of MLCC and batch condition such as mixing and milling methods was investigated in the $BaTiO_3$(BT)-Dy-Mg-Ba system with borosilicate glass as a sintering agent. In addition, several chip properties of MLCC manufactured by low temperature sintering were compared with conventionally manufactured MLCC. It was found that low temperature sintered MLCC showed better DC-bias property and lower aging rate. It was also confirmed that the thickness of Ni inner electrode layer became thinner and the coverage of inner electrode was improved through low temperature sintering.

  • In this paper, we provide a development and evaluation method for an archery posture analyzing system, using an inertial sensor. The system was developed using LabVIEW2014 by National Instruments and evaluated using the DTW algorithm. To convert the voltage value of the inertial sensor into a physical value, a coordinate transformation matrix bias was applied. To evaluate the similarity of movement in archery shooting, the DTW distance was calculated and similarity was confirmed based on simple mechanical movement, the same person's shooting movement, shooting movement with another person, and the noise signal. The average similarity comparison results were as follows: simple mechanical movement was 17.05%, the same person's shooting movement was 26.48%, shooting movement with another person was 62.8%, and the noise signal was 328.5%; a smaller value indicates a higher level of similarity. We confirmed the possibility of analyzing the archery posture using 3-axis acceleration of the inertial sensor. We inferred that the proposed method might be important means for assessing shooting skills, evaluation of archer's progress, and finding talented archers in advance.
