Electromagnetic Properties of BiPbSrCaCuO Superconductor (BiPbSrCaCuO 초전도체의 전자기특성)

  • The Electromagnetic properties in BiPbSrCaCuO superconductor was studied. In the measurement of current-voltage characteristics, a voltage across the superconducting sample was observed on applying an external magnetic field. The voltage continues to appear the removal of the magnetic field. The appearance of the voltage is ascribed to the trapping of magnetic flux. Depanding on the direction of applied magnetic flux less than 2.5${\times}$10-5 T, the voltage in the magnetized sample increases or decreases. It is considered that mechanism of voltage occurrence can be explained by applying filament model.

  • Suspension effect has been studied by using superconductor of BiPbSrCaCuO ceramics containing $Ag_2()$. It has been clear that $Ag_2()$ acts as pinning center which plays an important role to the suspension effect. Magnetic repulsive force which affects a superconductor located in magnetic flux from toroidal magnet, has been investigated. It has been concluded that the suspension effect arises from the interaction between the pinning effect and the diamagnetic effect.

  • Effects of powder sintering and 2nd, pressing on the superconducting characteristics in the (Bi,Pb)SrCaCuO system have been studied. The sample prepared by the powder sintering process had a porous microstructure with a $T_c$ below 77 K, while the sample prepared by 2nd. pressing process had highly oriented microstructure with a $T_c$ above 100 K. The critical current density($J_c$) was relatively improved in the sample prepared by the 2nd. pressing process. But the value of $J_c$ is cosiderably low in practical use.

  • The properties of Pb-doped Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O Super-conductors prepared by solidstate reaction have been studied. Zero resistance was attained at l03K for the sample sintered 845[$^{\circ}C$]for 264hours and it was depended upon sintering conditions. From XRD data low Tc phase and high Tc phase were observed and the volume fraction of high Tc phase increased with increase in sintering period. The grain size increased with increase in sintering temperature and time.

  • 고온초전도 BSCCO 2223 ((Bi, Pb)₂Sr₂Ca₂Cu₃O/sub x/) 선재의 특성을 향상시키기 위해서는 반복적인 인발 및 압연과정을 통한 texturing향상, BSCCO 2223입자의 배향성 증대, 피복재내 초전도체의 충진율(밀도)향상, 이차상의 부피분율 감소등이 이루어져야 한다. 최적 열처리 조건을 통하여 열처리 시에 형성되는 이차상인 (Bi,Pb)₂Sr₂CuO/sub y/ (2201, amorphous phase)를 조절하면서, (Ca,Sr)₂CuO₃ (2/1 AEC), (Ca,Sr)/sub 14/Cu/sub 24/O/sub 41/ (14/24 AEC)와 같은 이차상들의 부피분율 및 크기를 감소시켜야만 한다. 본 실험에서는 BSCCO 2223 선재의 특성을 향상시킬수 있는 최적의 열처리 조건 확립 및 기계적 공정시 나타나는 여러 가지 문제점을 개선하여 높은 임계전류를 가지는 선재의 특성을 분석하고자 하였다. 최종적으로 제조된 선재는 2223상 결정이 피복재(Ag)와 평행하게 길게 성장하며, AEC상의 크기와 부피분율이 감소할수록 더 높은 임계전류특성을 나타내었다(I/sub c/~70A, J/sub c/~42,000 A/㎠). 또한 이 선재에서 나타나는 여러 가지 이차상들을 분석하기 위하여 XRD, SEM, EDS 분석을 행하였다.

  • The relationship between magnetic properties of BiPbSrCaCuO superconductor and externally applied magnetic field was studied to develop a magnetic field polarity sensor. The behavior was related to the magnetic flux trapped in the superconductor, which penetrates through the material by the external magnetic field. Some portion of the superconductor was changed to a normal state by the trapped magnetic flux. Electrical characteristics of the superconductor with trapped magnetic flux were extremely sensitive to the external magnetic field and showed different responses depending on the direction of the magnetic field.

  • Fine powders of the 2212 superconducting phase of bismuth system have been prepared directly from solution using ultrasonic spray pyrolysis. The fine superconducting powders produced by pyrolysis were characterized for the size, shape, and crystalline phase by SEM and XRD. The pyrolysis temperature, flow rate of the carrier gas, residence time of the droplets greatly influenced the size, shape, and crystalline phase. The optimum temperature and flow rate of the carrier gas for the preparation of fine powders of the 2212 superconduting phase were found to be 830$^{\circ}C$and 3ι/min, respectively.

Controlling the secondary phase of BSCCO 2223 tapes by thermal slide heat treatment(TSHT)

  • The phase transformation, variation of secondary phase, and critical current density $(J_c) for (Bi,Pb)_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_10 (2223)$ tapes have been studied through the thermal slide heat treatment (TSHT) process. This process consists of a multiple variations of oxygen partial pressures and temperatures at the initial heat treatment During the initial heat treatment some secondary phase such as $(Ca,Sr)_2CuO_3(2/1 AEC), (Ca,Sr)_{14}Cu_{24}O_{41} (14/24 AEC), and (Bi,Pb)_2Sr_2CuO_y$(2201, amorphous phase) farm in Bi-2223 tapes, especially at the 2223 grain boundaries. These secondary phases are detrimental to the phase transformation and final properties. In order to control the secondary phase in Bi-2223 tapes the amount and size of secondary phases among the TSHT process were observed. The results indicate that the amount and particle size of AEC particles were smaller when the TSHT process was used than when the normal process at the initial heat treatment was used which results in the improved $J_c$ properties after the final process.

Formation of the precipitates in the Bi-2223/Ag superconducting tapes by post-heat treatment (Bi-2223 초전도 선재의 후열처리 과정에 의한 석출물의 형성)

  • To tap the possibility of exploiting the precipitates as flux-pinning center in the Bi-2223 superconducting system, as-received Bi-2223/Ag tapes with the starting composition of Bi$_{1.8}$Pb$_{0.4}$Sr$_2$Ca$_{2.2}$Cu$_3$O$_8$ were post-annealed at various temperature, oxygen partial pressure, and annealing time. The 2$^{nd}$ phases in the annealed specimen were analysed with XRD, SEM, TEM, and EDS. The size and the distribution of the precipitates such as (Ca,Sr)$_2$(Pb,Bi)O$_4$ and Bi$_{0.5}$Pb$_3$Sr$_2$Ca$_2$CuO$_{12+{\delta}}$ (3221) in the Bi-2223 matrix was controllable by varying heat-treatment condition without breaking the connectivity of the 2223 grains. The nano-size precipitates within the 2223 grains are conjectured as working as flux-pinning sites, resulting in increased J$_c$ value.

Measurement of Joint Resistance of $(Bi,Pb)_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_x$/Ag Superconducting Tape by Field decay Technique (자장감쇠법을 이용한 $(Bi,Pb)_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_x$/Ag 초전도선재의 접합저항 측정)

  • We fabricated a closed coils by using resistive-joint method and the joint resistance of the coils were estimated by field decay technique in liquid nitrogen. We used the Runge-kutta method for the numerical analysis to calculate the decay properties. The closed coil was wound by $(Bi,Pb)_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_x$/Ag tape. Both ends the tape were overlapped and soldered to each other. The current was induced in a closed coils by external magnetic flux density. Its decay characteristic was observed by means of measuring the magnetic flux density generated by induced current at the center of the closed coil with hall sensor. The joint resistance was calculated as the ratio of the inductance of the loop to the time constants. The joint resistances were evaluated as a function of critical current of loop, contact length, sweep time, and external magnetic flux density in a contact length of 7 cm. It was observed that joint resistance was dependent on contact length of a closed coil, but independent of critical current, sweep time, and external magnetic flux density. The joint resistance was measured to be higher for a standard four-probe method, compared with that for the field decay technique. This implies that noise of measurement in a standard four-probe method is larger than that of field decay technique. It was estimated that joint resistance was $8.0{\times}10^{-9}{\Omega}$ to $11.4{\times}10^{-9}{\Omega}$ for coils of contact length for 7 cm. It was found that 40Pb/60Sn solder are unsuitable for persistent mode.
