Influence of Milling Condition on the Phase Formation and Jc of Ag/Bi 2223 Superconducting Tapes (분말의 분쇄조건이 Ag/Bi-2223 초전도 선재의 상전이와 임계전류 밀도에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of the particle size of precursor powder on the microstructure and Jc of Ag-sheathed Ri-2223 tapes were investigated. The calcined powder with overall composition of $Bi_{1-89}Pb_{0-41}Sr_{2-01}Ca_{2-23}Cu_{3-03}O_{y}$ was milled for various times using planetary ball mill. The transport property of the tapes were found to depend strongly on the particle size of the precursor powder Enhanced reactivity of the milled powder facilitated the formation of 2223 phase and resulted in an increase of Jc. Excessive milling, however, led to the amorphisation of the powder and degraded the electrical property of the tapes.

Effect of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 addition on superconducting properties and local structure of (Bi, Pb)-2223 superconductor

  • The effect of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (LSMO) addition on the superconducting property of Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+δ ((Bi, Pb)-2223) polycrystalline samples was studied. LSMO (0.3 wt.% to 2.0 wt.%) added (Bi, Pb)-2223 samples were prepared by using a solid-state reaction method. The XRD analyses show that as the LSMO addition increases, the volume fraction of the Bi-2223 phase is gradually decreased. The critical temperature (Tc) exhibits a gradual decrease with a single transition as the LSMO amount increases up to 1.0 wt.%, but a further addition of LSMO induces an abrupt decrease of Tc with a dual transition. The analyses on the local structure of the CuO2 plane from the X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements showed that for the samples with low concentration of LSMO up to 1.0 wt.%, the Cu-O bond length and the CuO2 plane ordering do not degrade from the values of pure (Bi, Pb)-2223, while they get worsen with a further increase of LSMO addition. These results open up the possibility of LSMO as artificial pinning centers of the (Bi, Pb)-2223 system for power application.

Thermodynamics for Formation of Each Stable Single Phase in BSCCO Thin Films

  • High quality BSCCO thin films have been fabricated by means of an ion beam sputtering at various substrate temperatures, T$_{sub}$, and ozone gas pressures, PO$_3$. The correlation diagrams of the BSCCO phases appeared against T$_{sub}$ and PO$_3$are established in the 2212 and 2223 compositional films. In spite of 2212 compositional sputtering, Bi2201 and Bi2223 phases as well as Bi2212 one come out as stable phases depending on T$_{sub}$ and PO$_3$. From these results, the thermodynamic evaluations of ΔH and ΔS which are related with Gibbs'free energy change for single Bi2212 or Bi2223 phase are performed.ormed.i2212 or Bi2223 phase are performed.

  • This paper deals with the fabrication and characteristic experiment of a high-Tc superconducting(HTSC) power supply using by Bl-2223 tape. The purpose of this research is to apply real HTSC load. This system consists of two heaters, an electromagnet, a Bi-2223 solenoid and a Bi-2223 pancake load. In the experiment. 17sec and 8.5sec were used for pumping period. Mechanism of the superconducting switch is used for heater-trigger. In experiment, the pumping-current has reached about 1.2A.

  • Superconducting current lead is one of the promising applications of the oxide high-Tc superconductors, because they have the advantage of decreasing heat conduction to low temperature region, comparing with a conventional cooper alloy lead. High critical current density is a key factor for the applications such as current lead. $(Bi,Pb)_{2}Sr_{2}Ca_{2}Cu_{3}O_{x}$ high Tc superconductor hase been investigated in terms of critical current density. Bi-2223 superconducting current lead made by CIP and solid state sintering process. Bi-2223 current lead that heat treated at $836\;^{\circ}C$ for 240 h in 1/13 $PO_2$ had over $500\;A/cm^2$ of critical current density at 77K. We knew that the superconducting properties of tube type current leads were better than rods type of them. And we investigated the relation of Bi-2223 formation and heat treatment condition by XRD and SEM analysis.

  • For large scale applications of high temperature superconductor(HTS) such as transmission cables, motors and generators, long length of flexible HTS conductors is required. Currently, HTS tape that is capable of being fabricated in long length by industrial processes is the Bi-2223 HTS tape. In this study, we fabricated 19 filamentary Bi-2223($Bi_{1.8}$$Pb_{0.4}$$Sr_{2}$$Ca_{2}$$Cu_{3}$$O_{10+X}$) HTS tape with 100m length by PIT(Powder In Tube) process. Critical current(Ic) of this long length tape was measured 18.5 A at 77 K, self field and short sample Ic is 32.5 A at the same condition. Critical current of 100m length tape was decreased by about 1/3 compared to that of short tape. This was mainly resulted from the increase of non homogeneity in oxide layer.

  • Normal zone propagaton(NZP) properties were investigated on Bi-223/Ag tapes and prototype HTS cable. NZP experiments in tape were conducted in temperatures from 45K to 77K in zero field. Prototype HTS cable was molded using epoxy and the experiments were carried out under adiabatic condition in LN$_2$. NZP velocities in tapes with tow conditions of DC and AC currents were almost same at each temperature. NZP velocity in prototype HTS cable was 1.9-2.4 cm/sec in LN$_2$. Numerical analysis was carried out by a one-dimensional equation of heat balance. The simulation results of NZP velocity in Bi-2223/Ag tapes were similar to the experimental results.
