Silver-sheathed Bi-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O wires by the powder-in-tube method were preparated to study on the superconducting properties with cooling conditions. Superconducting wires were cooled down in the furnace, air and liquid $N_2$ after sintering at $840^{\circ}C$. Critical current density of sample cooled in the furnace is $5.1{\times}10^3\;A/cm^2$ at 77K, zero magnetic field and Jc of sample cooled in the air is very low. 2223 high-Tc superconducting phase of sample cooled in the air was distroyed. Therefore, we knew that superconducting wire need to cool slowly to get the high critical current density.
The superconducting powders in $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ and Bi-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O system were easily prepared from water in oil type emulsion by loading each cation into the aqueous phase. In $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ system, the superconducting orthorhombic phase was formed by calcining at $750^{\circ}C$ for 10h in $O_2$. The size of the superconducting phase powders was submicron. The density of the sintered specimen using this powders was about 95% of the theoretical density and the resistance sharply decreases at about 90K, In Bi-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O system the low Tc phase($(Bi, Pb)_2Sr_2Ca_1Cu_2O_y$) was formed by calcining at $800^{\circ}C$ for 10h in a low oxygen partial pressure of 1/20 atm The shape of clacined powder is thin plate of which size is about $2\mu\textrm{m}$ and thickness is smaller than $\mu\textrm{m}$. It was observed that the high Tc phase ($(Bi, Pb)_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_y$) was formed by sintering at $850^{\circ}C$ for 30h in oxygen pressure of 1/20 atm without intermediary grinding. The above sintered sample exhibited superconductivity with a Tc(zero)=105K.
During Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconductor wire fabrication the effect of the initial packing density on the final characteristics of superconductor wire was systematically studied. To increase the powder packing density with uniform distribution of superconducting core a billet insertion method processed by CIP was applied instead of the commonly used vibration and ramming method of powder insertion into silver sheath. Compared with the vibration and ramming method the billent insertion technique processed by CIP cause the 30% incre-specimen with 130${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$(core thickness : 45 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$)and 5.24 mm width processed at 84$0^{\circ}C$for 200hrs. shows specimen with 130${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ (core thickness ; 45${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$)and 5.24 mm width processed at 84$0^{\circ}C$ for 200 hrs. shows maximum 34A for Ic and 16, 700 A/cm2 for Ic measured at 77K and 0T. Also the sample rolled 3 times shows maximum 7, 2A for Ic and 11, 000 A/cm2 for 77K and 0T. Based on X-ray experimental results the formation of Bi-2223 and texture were significantly well developed at the interface between the superconducting core and silver sheath as compared with those of the interior area of superconducting core.

We carried out the experiments for fabricating $Bi_{2}Sr_{2}Ca_{2}Cu_{3}O_{x}$(Bi2223) superconductor thick films on Cu tapes. Cu-free (Bi,Pb)-Sr-Ca-0 powder mixtures were screen- printed on Cu tapes and heat-treated at 840-$860^{\circ}C$ for several minutes in air. Surface microstructures and phases of films were analyzed by XRD and optical microscope. The electric properties of superconducting films were examined by the four probe method. At heat-treatment temperature, the printing layers were in a partially molten state by liquid reaction between CuO in the oxidized copper tape and the precursors which were printed on Cu tapes. During the heat-treatment procedure, it is thought that Bi2223 superconducting particles nucleate at interfaces between Bi2212 phase and liquid.
Effects of powder sintering and 2nd, pressing on the superconducting characteristics in the (Bi,Pb)SrCaCuO system have been studied. The sample prepared by the powder sintering process had a porous microstructure with a $T_c$ below 77 K, while the sample prepared by 2nd. pressing process had highly oriented microstructure with a $T_c$ above 100 K. The critical current density($J_c$) was relatively improved in the sample prepared by the 2nd. pressing process. But the value of $J_c$ is cosiderably low in practical use.
As one of the chemical powder fabrication methods, the powder preparation method by using oxalate has the following advantages; (1) easy to control the chemical stoichiometry, (2) easy to fabricate homogeneous and fine particles, and (3) easy to be thermaly decomposed at low temperature. In the present study, the initial morphology and size distribution of the powder were controlled and the homogeniaty was improved. By carefully controlling the pH with NH4OH, the Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconducting powders were prepared and investigated for their properties. The microstructures and the superconducting properties of the pelletized samples were investigated. Also, the microstructures and electrical properties of the samples prepared by tape casting method were investigated. The fabricated powders were spherical with less than 400 nm, but most of them were agglomerated to be 1~3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in size. The critical temperature of the pelletized sample annealed at 84$0^{\circ}C$ for 72 hours in air was 110K. And the critical currents of annealed samples in air prepared by tape casting process for 24 hours and 72 hours were 0.6 A (Jc=600A/$\textrm{cm}^2$) and 1.9A (Jc=1, 900A/$\textrm{cm}^2$) respectively.
High Tc oxide superconductor with a Tc above 100 K has been successfully prepared by solid state reaction method in added-Pb BiSrCaCuO system. As compared with 123 compound, the formation reaction of the high Tc requires long time heat treatment. It is due to the transformation from the low Tc phase to high Tc phase. The sintering just below the melting point of the calcined powder mixture is effective on the formation of the high Tc phase in BiSrCaCuO system to be added with Pb. The growth of the high Tc superconducting phase has a thin plate shape, which is characterized by the c parameter of 37${\AA}$. The formation kinetics is also investigated in the samples with different Bi/Pb ratio and the 30% Pb addition is most preferable for the formation of the high Tc phase. The formation of the high Tc phases is delayed by the excessive addition of Pb. The lattice parameter(c) of the unit cell(both the low and high Tc phases) is increased with increase of Pb.
In this study, the influence of the powder sintering, the 2nd sinteiing and the grinding time on the Superconducting properties in the Bi(Pb)SiCaCuO Superconductor has been studied. From the analysis of SEM and XRD patterns, it was known that the sample prepared by the process of powder sintering has a porous microstructure with the critical temperature(Tc) below 77K, while the sample prepared by the 2nd sintering has a highly oriented microstructure with the Tc above 100K. The Critical Current Density(Jc) of the sample prepared by the 2nd sintering was better than the sample prepared by the process of powder sinteiing, but it's Jc, was low in practical use. Also, the effect of grinding time from 0[min] to 120[min] was investigated. As the grinding time is increased, the samples degraded from high-Tc phase to low-Tc phase and nonsuperconducting phases.
T. Kanal et al, were studied the superconducting properties in Bi system by mechanical grinding, in which the authors found that the samples ground degraded from the superconducting phases to nonsuperconducting phases. To obtain more information of the practical application in Bi system with high-Tc phase in this paper, these samples mechanically ground and the high-Tc phase properties of grinding powder samples were investigated.
The powder preparation by using emulsion drying method, one of the chemical powder fabrication methods has the advantages; easy to control the chemical stoichiometry and to fabricate homogeneously fine particles. In the present study, the initial morphology and size distribution of the powder fabricated by using emulsion dry-ing method were controlled and were improved the homogeneity. By carefully controlling the mixing ratio of oil phase and aqueous solution and surfactant of preventing emulsion separation, the Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O su-perconducting powders were prepared. The properties of the superconducting powder fabricated by this method and the microstructures and superconducting properties of the pelletized samples were investigated. The microstructures and electric properties of the tapes prepared by oxide powder-in-tube method were in-vestigated. The fabricated powder was spherical with less than 1$\mu$m but most of them was agglomerated with 2~5$\mu$m in size. The critical temperature of the pelletized sample annealed at 84$0^{\circ}C$ for 72 hours in oxygen par-tial pressure of 1/13atm in Ar atmosphere was 108K. And the critical current of the first and second annealed tapes in air prepared by oxide powder-in-tube process were 0.4A and 1.5A, respectively.
