This paper presents the development of RFID educational system based on using 900MHz air interface between the reader and the active tag. The software of reader and the active tag is developed on embedded environment, and the software of PC controlling the reader is based on window OS operated as the server. The AT89C51ED2 VLSI chip is used for the processor of the reader and the active tag. As the development environment, Keil compiler is used for the reader and the active tag of which the programing language is C. The visual C language of the visual studio on the PC activated as the server is used for development language. To verify the function of the system, PC gets the tag's identification number through the reader and send the data to with the active tag memory a certain contents as "wite" operation. Finally the data written from the active tag's memory is sent to the PC via the reader as "read" operation and compare the received data with one already sent to the tag.
A RFID system is a technology for detecting information on an object through wireless communication between a tag on the object and a reader, and its applications are being expanded to various areas. Because of its wireless communication, however, there are many vulnerabilities in security. Until now, many studies have been executed in order to solve problems related to the security and stability of RFID. In order to resolve vulnerabilities in existing security methods for privacy protection, this study proposed an authentication protocol that uses hash values received from tags and random numbers. When the proposed protocol was implemented, it was safe from various types of attacks between tag and reader and between reader and DB. Furthermore, compared to recently proposed protocols, it could implement a RFID system with enhanced security and less computation in tags.

In RFID system, Middleware collects and filters streaming data gathered continuously from readers to process applications requests. The enormous amount of data makes middleware in highly overloaded. Hence, we propose reader level filtering in order to reduce overall middleware load. In this paper, we consider reader filtering capability and define query plan to minimize number of queries for processing into middleware and reader level. We design and implement middleware system based on proposed query plan. We perform several experiments on implemented system. Our experiments show that the proposed query plan considerably improves the performance of middleware by diminishing processing time and network traffic between reader and middleware.

Point of care testing (POCT) is could be easily and economically performed and was widely used. In particular, the test items using immune chromatographic method has been conveniently used. But when an error occurs, we should reaffirmed the test results, but we could not reaffirm because the test line is disappeared as the time pass, and the test results are different between laboratory workers. Therefore, we developed multi-strip reader which can store images for the test results and can interpretate the test results automatically. Then we evaluated newly developed multi-strip reader for urine pregnancy test, the test results of the multi-strip reader was 100% matched with the previously results. Our newly developed multi-strip reader was convenient and economic, and will be widely used in many laboratories.

In this paper, we designed and implemented a visible light identification(VLID) system consisting of a VLID reader and a tag which backscatters incident lights from the reader. A VLID tag sends its ID to the reader by switching an LCD shutter which is located on its surface. The VLID reader consists of six LEDs and a photodiode(PD). The LEDs emit visible light and a PD located in a center position of LEDs receives backscattered light from the VLID tag. A microcontroller and a commercial liquid crystal display(LCD) shutter for 3D-TV glasses are used to implement a VLID tag. Experiments were conducted to confirm VLID system performance. We successfully demonstrated experiments to send NRZ-OOK signal of 100 bps over a distance of 35 cm at daytime. Also, we suggested the theoretical maximum transmission rate and the various methods to enhance the separation distance between a VLID reader and a tag.
In this paper, we discuss the recent trends on the passive UHF RFID tag chip design techniques and several important system parameters. We also summarize link budget studies on both conventional and modem UHF RFID communications. The paper highlights the reverse link limited case, which has known to be the minor concern if reader continuous wave (CW) can reach the tag in sufficient level. This makes sense when the tag sensitivity is rather high (over 10-12${\mu}W$); however, since the tag chip fabrication technologies have been developed by time, the tag chip threshold levels are now less-dominant in determining link margin. If the tag limitation can be alleviated, the forward link limited case can be resolved; thus, we rather focus on the path-loss problem. Since the path-losses are still exist in both forward and reverse links, and it can be doubled while CW travels the reader-tag-reader path because forward link and reverse link are on the same distance. Consider if reader receiver sensitivity is very high in the worst case. In this case, weaken tag response (i.e., backscatters) cannot reach the level that reader receiver can process tag data; bit-error rate can be higher. Overall, backscatter levels should be high enough so that reader receiver can correctly function. After discussing link budget, we carried out practical measurements on fading effects between two circularly polarized UHF RFID antennas in a small scale area.
In "A Good Man Is Hard to Find," Flannery O'Connor describes a striking journey of a family, in which all the members dramatically get killed. Through the tragic death of Bailey's family, O'Connor evokes the reader to think about life and the life after death. Growing up in the communities of Catholicism and Protestantism, O'Connor herself had agonized with the same question between the two types of Christian belief throughout her life. In the story, O'Connor embodies her anguish with the major characters and questions the reader about the meaning of Christian salvation. More specifically, Bailey's family represent the people who get lost in life. They live without any direction and purpose. Red Sammy and his wife, on the other hand, provide travellers with rest, food, and the necessaries. The Tower is a shelter of travellers in life; however, it is not everlasting but temporary. The Misfit, exemplifying religious stragglers, has been completely frustrated with the variance of Christian salvation theories, and no longer practices the religion but knows enough to justify his cruel behaviors. Finally, the grandmother is the manipulator and opportunist of the religion. All those characters are fragments of human characters and their life - obscene and transitory. In the story, there is little God's grace on the surface even though the writer claims "all my stories are about the action of grace." Nonetheless, the reader should be able to identify with those characters because they are the mirror images of themselves. While visualizing the characters, O'Connor wants the reader to have a moment to think about the "Righteousness," and ultimately to seek out God's grace that she essentially wishes to show the reader. Instead of showing God's grace directly, O'Connor ultimately leads the reader to consider about God and the grace as she/he reads the work.

Objective: To measure inter-reader agreement and identify associated factors in interpreting complete response (CR) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) following chemoradiotherapy (CRT) for rectal cancer. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study involved 10 readers from seven hospitals with experience of 80-10210 cases, and 149 patients who underwent surgery after CRT for rectal cancer. Using MRI-based tumor regression grading (mrTRG) and methods employed in daily practice, the readers independently assessed mrTRG, CR on T2-weighted images (T2WI) denoted as mrCRT2W, and CR on all images including diffusion-weighted images (DWI) denoted as mrCRoverall. The readers described their interpretation patterns and how they utilized DWI. Inter-reader agreement was measured using multi-rater kappa, and associated factors were analyzed using multivariable regression. Correlation between sensitivity and specificity of each reader was analyzed using Spearman coefficient. Results: The mrCRT2W and mrCRoverall rates varied widely among the readers, ranging 18.8%-40.3% and 18.1%-34.9%, respectively. Nine readers used DWI as a supplement sequence, which modified interpretations on T2WI in 2.7% of cases (36/1341 [149 patients × 9 readers]) and mostly (33/36) changed mrCRT2W to non-mrCRoverall. The kappa values for mrTRG, mrCRT2W, and mrCRoverall were 0.56 (95% confidence interval: 0.49, 0.62), 0.55 (0.52, 0.57), and 0.54 (0.51, 0.57), respectively. No use of rectal gel, larger initial tumor size, and higher initial cT stage exhibited significant association with a higher interreader agreement for assessing mrCRoverall (P ≤ 0.042). Strong negative correlations were observed between the sensitivity and specificity of individual readers (coefficient, -0.718 to -0.963; P ≤ 0.019). Conclusion: Inter-reader agreement was moderate for assessing CR on post-CRT MRI. Readers' varying standards on MRI interpretation (i.e., threshold effect), along with the use of rectal gel, initial tumor size, and initial cT stage, were significant factors associated with inter-reader agreement.

Recently UHF RFID system has drawn a great deal of attention because of its potential to revolutionize supply chain management. An important characterization of the performance of a RFID system is 'interrogation range', which is defined as the maximum distance between a reader and a tag. Forward-link interrogation range is defined as the maximum distance from which the tag receives just enough power to turn on and back-scatter, and reverse-tink interrogation range is the maximum distance from which the reader can detect this back-scattered signal. A link balance has to be found between the two interrogation ranges. In this paper, the interrogation range equations are formulated in both forward-link and reverse-link and a trade-off between the two values is investigated in order to maximize the interrogation range. As a result, it is observed that the gain of the reader antenna, the isolation of the circulator, and the phase noise of the local oscillator with range correlation effect mainly determine the reverse-link interrogation range.
