Performance Improvement of Triangular-type V-belt Clutch (삼각벨트 클러치의 성능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to provide a direction for improving the performance of triangular-type belt clutch. The power transmission characteristics and the wear of belt were investigated for two types of pulley set theoretically and experimentally. The results of research were summarized as follows: 1) Based on the theoretical analysis for the life time of belt, the wear of belt could be reduced by increasing the sizes of driving V-pulley and tension pulley, and by decreasing the tension on V-belt. 2) The pulley set # 2 could transmit more power than the pulley set # 1 could at the same slop rate. While the slip rate was 2.36% on the pulley set # 2 at the maximum power transmission, the slip rate on the pulley set # 1 was increased up to 12.2% at the same condition. 3) From the 16 hours' fatigue test, the wear of belt used n the pulley set # 1 was observed severer than that in the pulley set#2. Also, it was found that the tensile strength of belt used in the pulley set # 2 was greater than that of belt used in the pulley set # 1.

Small Agricultural Skid-steer Loader Using Belt Clutch Power Transmission (벨트클러치 전동방식의 농업용 소형 스키드 스티어 로더)

  • Since the skid-steer loader is able to work for excavating, lifting and transporting load even at the narrow space, they are widely used in the regular farm and the livestock farm. The skid-steer loader normally adopts the hydrostatic transmission because the power to move the machine backward and forward should be delivered independently on both sides of wheels. Contrast to the mechanical system such as chain and belt transmissions, however, the hydrostatic transmission is less efficient in the use of energy and more difficult in the maintenance. This study was intended to investigate the feasibility of using triangular-type belt clutch and V-belt transmission for the newly developed skid-steer loader in order to overcome the problems stated in the hydrostatic transmission. In the developed triangular-type belt clutch, the centers of driving, driven and idler sheaves are arranged in the triangular shape in a plane, and V-belts were loaded loosely on three sheaves. The power is transmitted by pressing the idler connected to a lever on the loosened V-belt. Contrast to the normal belt clutch using two sheaves, the newly developed belt clutch has the characteristics of small contact-angle of the driving sheave at no bucket load and increasing contact-angle at the time of power transmission. The results of research can be summarized as follows: 1) The developed triangular-type belt clutch adopted a spring-loaded slackside idler which could transmit more power than a fixed idler could by sacrificing the belt life. The life of V-belt used in the power transmission reached at 500 hours(6 months) when the engine power of 11.8 ㎾ was transmitted. Also, it was feasible to develop the large industrial skid-loader with the V-belt transmission by using the proper set of sheaves. 2) The developed skid-steer loader changed the rotating radius and speed with bucket loads as the conventional skid steer loader did. The rotating speed was 47 deg/s at the maximum bucket load of 2.74 kN when the minimum rotating radius was 1.5m. 3) The power required in turning at the bucket load of 2.74 kN was 4 ㎾ and the slippage of V-belt was less than 1%.

  • As a power transmission element, the timing belt is a toothed transmission belt that takes advantages of V-belts and gears. It has characteristics of non-slip and low noise. It is used as a power transmission device when transmitting power from a rotating shaft or linear motion in a mechanism. Rotation can be accurately transmitted through a belt pulley with grooves like a gear and a timing belt with grooves to precisely match with the belt pulley. In particular, in the mechanism in which the timing belt is used for the output shaft, the dynamic characteristics including the rigidity of the timing belt determine the transmission characteristics of the system, so its importance increases. In this paper, a stiffness reinforced belt that can be applied to a timing belt with a limited range of motion to increase its stiffness is proposed. To study the dynamic characteristics of the stiffness reinforced belt, the equation of motion for the stiffness reinforced belt was established, and a simulation model for the stiffness reinforced belt was created and analyzed. In order to confirm the analysis results of the motion equation and simulation model, a 1-axis rotation experimental equipment using a stiffness reinforcing belt was developed and the experiment was conducted. Through motion equations, simulation models, and experiment results, it was confirmed that the stiffness and dynamic characteristics of the timing belt could be improved by applying the proposed stiffness reinforcement belt.

  • 흔히 자동차용 belt를 단순한 소모품으로 생각하여 대수롭지 않게 여기는 경향이 있으나 belt slip에 의한 동력의 손실은 매우 큰 것이며 특히 자동차용 belt에 있어서 그 중요성은 상당한 것이다. 왜냐하면 crankshaft에서의 중력이 belt를 통해서 water pump나 air compressor등에 전달되며 이때 동력전달이 제대로 안되는 경우에는 engine은 냉각수와 냉각팬에 의해 냉각이 되지 않아서 금방 고은소착 되기 때문이며, 또한 belt를 너무 조이는 경우에는 water pump bearing의 파손 등을 초래하기 때문에 belt의 정확한 길이 계산이 매우 중요하다. 그러나 이러한 중요성에도 불구하고 belt의 설계계산을 행하는 데는 많은 시간이 걸리며, 간혹 잘못 계산을 하는 경우에는 큰 문제가 발생할 수도 있기 때문에 belt계산의 기본이론식들을 전부 computer program 화하여 시간의 절약과 계산의 오류를 피하고자 한다. Program을 만들기 위해서 사용한 computer는 micro-computer로서 PET (Personal Electric Transactor)2001이며 사용한 언어는 BASIC이다.

Analysis on the Nonlinear Vibration Characteristics of a Belt Driven System (밸트 구동계의 비선형 진동 특성 해석)

  • In this paper, a mathematical model for a belt driven system is proposed to analyse the vibtation characteristics of the driving units with belts and the free and forced vibration analyses are carried out. The mathematical model for model for the belt-driven system includes belts,pulleys, spindle and bearings. Using the Hamilton principle, the 4 nonlinear governing equations and the 12 nonlinear boundary conditions are derived. To linearize and discretize the nonlinear govering equations and boundary conditions, the perturbation method and Galerkin method are used. Also, the free vibration analyses for the various parameters of the belt driven system, which are belt tension, belt length, material property of belt, belt speed and pulley mass are made. The forced vibration analyses of the system are made and the dynamic responses for the main parmeters are analysed with the belt driven system.

  • In this paper, the research is to develop a system that can detect the breakage of the rubber belt conveyor system in the transport of the raw materials required for the operation of logistics. We are to develop a system that can detect the breakage of the belt due to the electronic system of belt breakage occurs by placing the material on the inside of the belt, electric induction to minimize the damage of the belt. The belt repair costs, or reorder the steps of the logistics transit time can be reduced. Induced in the coil, and belt embedded in the transmitted signal as a way to detect the breakage of the belt was to detect the damage of the belt by detecting the electrical phenomena induced in the coil at the receiving end.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the roles that the exterior features of belts play in modem women's fashion. Providing a new prospective on belt expression could be useful for developing and producing belts with newer and more unique fashion designs. This study included related studies, fashion magazines and collections produced both in Korea and abroad since 2000. The results of the study were as follows: 1. A belt can be used to stress femininity. For example wearing a broad belt rather than a thin belt emphasizes the waist, breasts or hips depending on the position of the belt, whereas simply Wearing a belt loosely on a tight or see-through dress can also emphasize femininity. 2. A belt can be used as a design element of a dress. The basic elements of a belt, such as leather used in combination with various colors, various manufacturing methods, and ornate buckle ornaments can produce elaborate decorative effects. However, when a belt is made from materials other than leather, the belt can have an ornamental quality on an achromatic dress. Finally, designing belts to be worn in non-conventional manners, such as girding or tying them, or wearing several belts on the arms, legs, shoulders and waist can result in new and expressive styles.

Study on the Development of SCBA Belt for Firefighters (소방용 등지게 벨트의 제품개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study evaluates the wearing performance of a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) belt for firefighters in Korea. A SCBA belt design was suggested based on the wearing evaluation of a SCBA belt; subsequently, prototypes I and II were created. A wearing evaluation of prototypes with improved design and design preference was performed. Six designs elements of the SCBA belt for firefighters were suggested based on the survey results of wearing the SCBA belt and for the SCBA belt design preference for use by firefighters. First, belt material should be made of black high-strength aramid textiles. In addition, Velcro should be used to attach and detach retroreflective and fluorescent materials along with various colors for visibility. Second, the chest belt should be made of the same material used for other parts; in addition, the chest belt should be moved to the center for center of gravity and a cobra buckle should be applied. Third, an O-ring should be applied to the back and the belt connected to the O-ring should distribute the weight in six axes. Fourth, a detachable air respirator should be able to separate by using upper and lower cobra buckles. Fifth, a separable leg belt and a detachable pocket are also suggested. Sixth, a ring for walkie-talkies, alarms and equipment as a fabric ring are also suggested. Prototype III with an improved design was created based on the results of the design suggestion.

A Study on the Press Belt Motion in the Fusing Press M/C (심지융착기의 압착벨트 운동에 대한 연구)

  • Fusing press m/c is used for heating and pressing the specimens that are fed into between the two moving belts. Therefore the belt movement, belt temperature, and the pressure between belts must be kept constant. Especially, the belts should move in a limited operation range. When the belts run far out of the operation point, the machine has to be stopped, which results in a product defect because the fusing conditions, e.g., temperature and pressure, change during the transient process time period. It is important to avoid the belt stopping by maintaining the belt movement in a limited range. This study reports about the movement of the endless fusing belt in a long-span roller fusing m/c. The belt position changes as the 1st-order system does; if the roller axes are slanting each other with a certain angle, the belt running around the two rolls shows a dynamic behavior with the time that deviates fastly at the beginning from the initial condion and slows down. Then it reaches at a final position. The skewer the axes, the greater the position change. The inital change rate of the belt becomes large as the skewness of the axes between the two rollers increases.

A Study on Dynamic Analysis and Fatigue Life of the Belt in the OHT Vehicle (OHT 차량 벨트 동특성 및 피로 수명에 관한 연구)

  • The OHT(Over Head Transportation) Vehicle transports heavy products quickly and repeatedly at the industrial workplace. The belt in the OHT vehicle is used to support the weight of the OHT Cage. The fatigue of the belt is caused by the dynamic load during the operation time. Since the fatigue fracture of the belt affects the safety at the workplace, the correct prediction of the dynamic load is necessary to calculate the fatigue life of the belt on the design step. In this paper a computer aided analysis method is proposed for the belt in the early design stage using dynamic analysis, stress analysis, belt tensile test, belt fatigue test and fatigue lift prediction method. From the dynamic load time histories and the stress of the belt FE model, a dynamic stress time history is produced. Using linear damage law and cycle counting method, fatigue life cycle is calculated. The method developed in this paper is used to reduce the time and cost for designing the OHT belt in different environment and condition.
