This study was undertaken to investigate the current meal management situation and behaviors of the housewives in Seoul during the period January in 1933. The aim of this study was to improve meal managenment in 1980. This study has been performed by questionnaire about kitchen forms, cooking machines. foodstuffs buying forms, plan of the price in meal and meal management behaviors. 1. 85% of the housewives had stand-up fashioned kitchen forms, and they were equipped with variety of cooking machines and high possession percentage that. 2. 66.7% of the housewives spent the price of meal under plan, 3.1% of them purchased foodstuffs daily. 3. The time spent in preparing the table of breakfast and lunch was about 60 minutes and dinner was about 90 minutes. the time spent in clearing the table of breakfast and lunch was about 20 minutes and dinner was about 40 minutes. 4. The numbers of daily cooking rice was the higher percentage twice a day than once a day, but increased higher percentage once a day than 1980's. 5. In preparing kimchi most of housewives were making it in their homes and number of making kimchi once a 15day and a month was high percentage. 6. When they prepared meals they gave higher percentage to the tastes of families than nutrition. The number of preparing a side dish in breakfast and lunch was 3~4, and dinner was 5~6. 7. In most cases housewives cooked for themselves, and the number of husbands who help their wives for kitchen work was increased in group of younger housewives than older. 8. The environment of kitchen work is improved to many facility but not to be desired facility, and meal management behavior is changing gradually into more convenience but not to be changing into more scientific forms.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors affecting tuberculosis prevention behaviors in North Korean adolescent refugees. Methods: From September 16 to October 8, 2019, a survey was conducted to collect data from 143 North Korean adolescent refugees aged 13 to <25 at alternative and general schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The scale developed by Park (2008) and adapted by Cha (2012) was used to rate tuberculosis prevention behaviors in daily life with the aim of preventing high school students from getting infected with tuberculosis. The collected data were processed through frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression, using SPSS 25.0. Results: The mean score was 13.65 for knowledge of tuberculosis, 44.23 for attitudes towards tuberculosis, and 41.33 for tuberculosis prevention behaviors. Significant differences were found according to gender, country of origin, duration of stay in South Korea, tuberculosis examination, pre-entry chest x-ray, education about tuberculosis, alcohol intake, and subjective health status. A positive correlation was found between knowledge, attitudes, and prevention behaviors. The factors affecting tuberculosis prevention behaviors were attitudes (β=.38, p<001) and subjective health status (β=.26, p<.001). Conclusion: It is necessary to provide attitude-based education that can reinforce positive attitudes in order to improve North Korean adolescent refugees' tuberculosis prevention behaviors. This is expected to help them pay more attention to health care and become better at prevention behaviors. It is, therefore, necessary to develop a tuberculosis prevention education program with the aim of making them more knowledgeable about tuberculosis and providing them with systematic and sustainable education.

Post-transcriptional regulation underlies the circadian control of gene expression and animal behaviors. However, the role of mRNA surveillance via the nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) pathway in circadian rhythms remains elusive. Here, we report that Drosophila NMD pathway acts in a subset of circadian pacemaker neurons to maintain robust 24 h rhythms of free-running locomotor activity. RNA interference-mediated depletion of key NMD factors in timeless-expressing clock cells decreased the amplitude of circadian locomotor behaviors. Transgenic manipulation of the NMD pathway in clock neurons expressing a neuropeptide PIGMENT-DISPERSING FACTOR (PDF) was sufficient to dampen or lengthen free-running locomotor rhythms. Confocal imaging of a transgenic NMD reporter revealed that arrhythmic Clock mutants exhibited stronger NMD activity in PDF-expressing neurons than wild-type. We further found that hypomorphic mutations in Suppressor with morphogenetic effect on genitalia 5 (Smg5) or Smg6 impaired circadian behaviors. These NMD mutants normally developed PDF-expressing clock neurons and displayed daily oscillations in the transcript levels of core clock genes. By contrast, the loss of Smg5 or Smg6 function affected the relative transcript levels of cAMP response element-binding protein B (CrebB) in an isoform-specific manner. Moreover, the overexpression of a transcriptional repressor form of CrebB rescued free-running locomotor rhythms in Smg5-depleted flies. These data demonstrate that CrebB is a rate-limiting substrate of the genetic NMD pathway important for the behavioral output of circadian clocks in Drosophila.
Miniature pig (minipig) has been considered as an important laboratory animal in the developmental biotechnology researches with respect to xenotransplantation, stem cell, somatic cell nuclear transfer and embryo transfer. Given that the laboratory minipigs are normally housed at an indoor facility, they pass the time with lying or sleeping unless it is feeding time. Therefore, it is necessary to provide environmental enrichments to satisfy their innate needs and to lessen atypical behaviors caused by stress, on the purpose of welfare. We quantitatively investigated the type of preferable enrichment for the laboratory minipigs as well as its effect on their daily life. They presented a great interest to the pliable pail but a rapid loss of attraction to non-preferable enrichments. When the daily life of the single housed minipigs was quantified based on duration of playing or resting, they were more actively engaged in lively activities in the presence of enrichments. In addition, the provision of enrichments could effectively alleviate the conflicts during group housing when new pen mate was introduced, resulting in reduction of wound cases. We believe the considerations of animal welfare are essential to the conduct of better research because animals in the non-stressful environment will be more physiologically stable and provide more reliable results in the animal experiments.
An internet addiction measure(Park et al., 2001) and an asocial behavior measure(K. J. Lee, 1997) were administered to 232 6th-grade students. Statistical analyses were by mean-difference scores and t-test. Results showed that all aspects of internet addiction(preoccupation, compulsive use, relapse, tolerance/dependence and impediments in daily life) were related to both the inner asocial behaviors of depression, social withdrawal and over-anxiety and the external asocial behaviors of aggressiveness, delinquency and hyperactivity. The only exception was that tolerance/dependence was not related to delinquency. Boys addicted to the internet were more socially withdrawn, aggressive, delinquent and hyperactive than girls. From the results, it can be suggested that internet education should be carried out from the elementary educational level.
This study was conducted to understand the emotional and situational context where non-suicidal self-injury occurs in everyday life. Sixty adults(age 19-35) completed daily surveys assessing positive and negative emotions, stressful events, self-injury thoughts, and behaviors for two weeks. Using a total of 663 collected entries, we analyzed specific personal emotions and stressful events related to non-suicidal self-injurious thoughts and behaviors. As a result, high negative emotions, low positive emotions, and total stress event scores were significantly related to self-injury thoughts and behaviors. In the model in which both emotion and stress were inserted as predictors, the low level of positive emotion showed a significant related to non-suicidal self-injurious behavior. These results suggest that negative emotion management and overall positive emotion reinforcement are important in emotion regulation intervention for non-suicidal self-injurious patients. The meaning of this study is that it searched for risk factors of non-suicidal injury in everyday life using a short-term longitudinal method.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop a substantive theory on self-management conducted by the adolescents with chronic kidney disease from their lived experience. Methods: Data was collected through in-depth interviews from May to December in 2015 with thirteen adolescents with chronic kidney disease. The data collected were analyzed on the basis of Strauss and Corbin's grounded theory. Results: The core of the category found in this study was "overcoming the unstable sense of self- control and integrating disease experience into their life". The causal conditions triggering the central phenomenon were "restriction in daily life" and "manifestation and aggravation of symptom". The central phenomenon in the experience of self-management within the adolescents with chronic kidney disease was "unstable sense of self control". The intervening condition for unstable self control were "micro system support" and "motivational resources". This study found that the adolescents with chronic kidney disease followed a series of strategies when they faced the central phenomenon, including; passive coping, reappraisal of illness, active coping, compliance with treatment, controlling physical activity, and adjusting school life. With these strategic approaches, the adolescents with chronic kidney disease could maintain their active lifestyles and achieve their health behaviors. The process of self-management by these adolescents passed through four phases; limited experience caused by diseases, effort for normalization, reorganizing their daily lives, and integration with daily lives and self-management. Conclusion: This Study explored the process and experience of self-management of adolescents with chronic kidney disease. These findings can be used for basis for developing substantive theory and nursing intervention strategy for adolescents with chronic kidney diseases.
This study aimed at finding out the effectiveness of Solution-Focused Group Therapy Program in reducing delinquents' problematic behaviors and increasing their self-esteem, impulse control, communication with the parents and bettering their daily life habits. Thirty one male delinquents under probation from a Probation Center in Seoul were chosen and given a Solution-Focused Group Therapy for 30 hours. For a comparison purpose another 31 male delinquents were chosen from the same Center. To evaluate the effectiveness of the Program, items were selected and used from Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale. Youth Outcome Questionnaire Self Report 2.0, Brief Family Therapy Center-Child/Teen Solution Identification Scale. Participants' and parents' self-reports on participants' changes and session progress records were also used for qualitative evaluation. The results showed some positive changes in participants' self-esteem, self-control, communication style with parents, and daily life habits. No illegal act was reported after nine months upon this Program, which posits this type of Solution-Focused Group Therapy Program as a viable solution for the prevention and recidivism of juvernile crimes.
Religions have the characteristics ultimately to solve the problems of human beings. These religions are externally expressed through the behaviors called rituals and contain substantially symbolic meanings. A ritual is a kind of transcendental experiences and infinite experience conducted in the reality and formalizes external behaviors in front of the presence of holy subject. Therefore, there is no religion without rituals. However, there are insignificant differences between religions or sects in performing rituals. The purpose of a ritual for human beings who have access to the holy world and this world is to keep their balances not to excessively indulge in this world. Moreover, a ritual plays the role to exercise strict control over the daily life of religious people who are in the holy world but easily tend to be accustomed to force of habit. These rituals are closely related to belief. Belief(Conviction) is one of core elements of religion. Belief as the unique activity among various behaviors of human beings illustrates another characteristics of human beings. The common efforts in the history of mankind to overcome cultural or geographical differences through existing religions can be represented by belief, that is, the faith. On the basis of background described above, this study aims to identify the meaning of rituals and dynamic structure of belief as examining the rituals of Daesoonjinrihoe.
The purpose of this study was to fine the changes in lavatory/bathroom and daily lives to clarify the modernization process of the housing through everyday affairs and adjustment behaviors after the period of opening the port with microscopic perspectives. For the purpose, reviews were focused on hygiene and cleanliness in lavatory/bathroom and the changes in such areas. Secondly, how the process of conflict and settlement due to such changes had been approached since modernization was studied. Research method used were literature review and field study. The results of the study were as the follows: From the perspective of 'hygiene' and 'cleanliness', which were the main characteristics of modernization, the lavatory/bathroom culture in traditional Korean housing might be considered very unsanitary and despicable. The actual problems encountered by the inhabitants, however, might be less significant than those discovered by the pioneers at that time. Despite such reality, housing adjustments through renovations of the bathrooms and lavatories by some classes implied the need for housing, which had been inhibited in themselves. Also it was found that the family conflicts due to cultural and life style differences existed in each time period.
