Purpose: This study was done to identify attitudes to smoking, beliefs about smoking and factors influencing nicotine dependence in woman smokers. Methods: Data was collected from 131 women smokers, who visited a public health center between January and July. 2012. Collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 program. Results: Mean score for attitude to smoking was $23.7{\pm}3.2$, beliefs about smoking, $18.6{\pm}2.9$, and nicotine dependence, $4.3{\pm}2.1$. Attitude to smoking of the woman smokers was significantly different according to marital status, beliefs about smoking were significantly different according to marital status and being employed. Nicotine dependence was significantly different according to frequency of alcohol consumption, stress, number of cigarettes smoked. There was a correlation between attitude to smoking and beliefs about smoking. Age when starting to smoke, number of cigarettes, and length of time one has smoked accounted for 31.0% of nicotine dependence. Conclusion: The results indicate that increasing knowledge and improving attitudes toward smoking as well as training on stress management and exercise are needed. Also, a distinct mediation should be developed for women smokers. Especially, in-depth research is needed to identify psycho-social behavior-related variables for the health promotion of young women smokers.

This study was undertaken to explain weight control behavior and intention of obese children and adolescents as measured by the elements of the health belief model. A total of 732 obese students from 28 schools in Seoul metropolitan area and their mothers were assessed with a self-administered questionnaire. The analyzed results are as follows; 1. Among obese students, 45.3% of male students and 57.2% of female students, a significantly higher portion than male students, reported that they had tried to lose weight within the recent year. Exercise was the most frequently used method to lose weight followed by diet control, drug use, and specialized clinic visits, in descending order. 2. Male students were more likely to try to lose weight if they perceived a low threat level and their mother had a job, and female students were more likely to try to lose weight if they were younger in age, perceived a low threat level and had strong external motivating factors. 3. Female students showed a significantly higher level of intention to obesity control than male students, and the intention level of their mothers also showed the same trend. 4. In male students, the degree of weight dissatisfaction, weight control experience, the level of obesity related beliefs of students, the educational level of the mother and economic status of the family were significant predictors of intention to obesity control, and in females, age, the level of obesity related beliefs of students and intention of their mothers were significant. In the mothers of male students, obesity index of students, age of the mother and the level of obesity related beliefs of the mother were significant predictors of intention of the mother, and in the mothers of female students, obesity index of students, occupational status of the mother and obesity related beliefs of the mother were significant. 5. According to the path model of intention to obesity control, the degree of weight dissatisfaction had the most powerful effect in male students, and perceived net benefit level was the most important variable in female students. Since the weight control behavior and intention of obese students were more predictable by the degree of weight dissatisfaction than the obesity index, we can conclude that only the students dissatisfied with their weight are well motivated for obesity control. There can be a discrepancy between the mother and her child's beliefs and intention status(especially in male students), so the therapists should also assess the student's opinion as well as the mother's. In female students, the perceived net benefit level wag the most important predictor of intention to obesity control, therefore the intervention program should pay particular attention to the positive benefits of weight control rather than negative aspects(threats) of obesity.

In recent decades, the socio-hydrology community has developed several socio-hydrological frameworks to understand the complexity of the coupled human-water system. Although there have been efforts to relate sociology and hydrology, there still have been some insights that remain debatable. As for this study, the Value-belief-norm theory was used to represent the human behavior in order to connect the human-water system. The theoretical framework of values, beliefs and norms was developed to understand the human culture towards the environment. In addition to the theory, norms are legislation of human behavior in the society while the values are the guiding principle to motivate beliefs and norms. The overview of this study implied on developing a socio-hydrological model consisting of the four systems defined as hydrology, socio-economy, technology and institutional. The interconnectors between the four systems are the key variables and parameters representing a module namely the causal loop diagram. Moreover, water quality, size of population, infrastructure capacity and norms are the key variables to connect the four systems. The developed model will be applied to Han River to represent the coevolutionary of the dynamics of human-water systems.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine knowledge, health beliefs and health promoting behavior about osteoporosis in working women in their 20s and 30s. Methods: A survey was conducted among working women in their 20s and 30s who visited the health promotion center of B Medical Center in B Metropolitan City. The data were collected from December 2021 to March 2022 using structured self-reported questionnaires. SPSS/WIN 25.0 program was used to analyze the data. Results: Factors influencing health promoting behavior about osteoporosis in women in their 20s and 30s were in the order of "good" subjective health status (β=.47, p<.001), "moderate" subjective health status (β=.36, p<.001) and knowledge (β=.18, p=.015). These factors explained 12.4% of health promoting behaviors about osteoporosis. Conclusion: The results indicate the need to develop and implement healthcare programs that can improve the health status and provide knowledge to improve health promoting behavior about osteoporosis in women in their 20s and 30s.
This article investigates 295 social workers in order to find out how much they believe that each behavior related to dual relationships is ethical and with how many clients they engaged in these behaviors. This article, based on the literature, explores three areas of dual relationships which are sexual, bartering, and private dual relationships. The results from the research were 1) The social workers tend to believe that while sexual and bartering dual relationships are less ethical, private dual relationships are more ethical. Meanwhile, they have little experience to engage in all areas of dual relationships; 2) Compared to beliefs and experiences, the social workers believe that each behavior is ethical, but they have less experienced the same behavior. However, the result of strong correlations between beliefs and experiences shows that the more the social workers believe that the behaviors are ethical, the more they tend to engage in the behaviors; 3) Based on socio-demographic characteristics, male social workers tend to accept dual relationships as ethical behavior than their female counterparts do. And those who are practicing in health settings tend to believe that the behaviors related to dual relationships are less ethical than those who are practicing in the other areas of the profession do. Finally, the research recommends that enhancing social worker's self-awareness and professional maturity is needed in order to prevent the occurrence of dual relationship engagement. Also, social work professional associations and agencies should provide education, training, and institutional restrictive devices for dealing with unethical dual relationships.
Under the assumption that people go through stages in making dietary behavior change, this study was attempted to apply the stages of a change model for fat intake by examining the associations of social psychological variables with stages of change in dietary fat reduction. Derived from social psychological theories, 10 social psychological variables on motivational beliefs(6), social influence(3) and self-efficacy(1) related specifically to selecting every day diets low in fat were constructed. Fat and energy intakes were assessed by a short form semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. The associations of stages of change with motivational beliefs, social influence, and self-efficacy variables and energy and fat intakes were assessed in 333 female adults from large cities in Korea. Dietary stage groups differed significantly on most of the social psychological variables in ways predicted by theory. Motivational factors that lead to a psychological state of readiness to take action were important in the early stages of the dietary change process. Social influences were more important in the stages as people decide to take action. Self efficacy and motivational beliefs, particularly, reduction of perceived barriers were important in maintaining fat reduction behavior. The results of our study indicate differences in stages of change in fat reduction behavior in terms of nutrient intakes and social psychological correlates and suggests that adding a time dimension to social psychological models increases our understanding of dietary change, which assist us in designing nutrition education interventions that are more appropriately targeted by stage of change. This study was performed to examine relationships between the levels of health promoting lifestyle, health beliefs about emerging infectious disease and hygiene behavior of college students. A descriptive research design was used, and 252 subjects were recruited from an university in Seoul. Data were collected from August to November, 2018. As result, health promoting lifestyle differed significantly depending on gender and perceived health status. Hygiene behavior were significantly influenced by major, health promoting lifestyle, and health beliefs about emerging infectious disease. In providing health-related education to college students, it is necessary to include content that can establish health beliefs about emerging infectious disease, and to develop a program that comprehensively deals with hygiene activities that can prevent these diseases.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between college students' health perception, health beliefs, and health promotion behaviors. For data analysis, item analysis, factor analysis, and reliability analysis were conducted. In addition, correlation analysis and path analysis were conducted to understand the relationship between variables. As a result of the analysis, the following conclusions were obtained. As a result of conducting path analysis to verify the causal effect between college students' health perception, health beliefs, and health promotion behaviors, the model was relatively high in various fitness indices, and all path coefficients included in the model were statistically significant. Specifically, there were significant positive relationships in all pathway coefficients, but health perception and perceived disability, perceived disability and health promotion behavior were negatively related. In subsequent studies, it is considered necessary to analyze various variables related to health promotion behavior.
This study of children's perceptions own and desirable mothers was based on data gathered from answers to questionnaires by 46 preschoolers living in Chunju.
