Stimulated Brillouin scattering theory is described in an optical fiber. Frequency change with an optical heterodyne method is analyzed between reference signal of a source and stimulated Brillouin scattering signal in an optical fiber. By coupling a source with a few axial modes and an optical fiber ring resonator, Brillouin scattering is studied with a spectrum analyzer. Using reference beating signal of a source, we have reduced the Brillouin beating frequency from 13 GHz range to below GHz. Experimentally, we can see the Brillouin beating frequency from 13 GHz range to below GHz with a dispersion shifted fiber (1.32 GHz), Ti-doped fiber (900 MHz) and single mode optical fiber (870 MHz). MHz).

Helmet Mounted Display(HMD) has great advantages on the navigation and mission symbologies for the pilot's forward looking display and, therefore, has been remarkably drawing attention as the up coming display of the next generation aircraft. The essential technology to process the Line of Sight-Foward(LOS-F) data in real-time is to estimate exact helmet situation and position. In this paper, we research a acoustic helmet tracking technique. For the reason that mechanical acoustic noises might interfere with Helmet Tracking System(HTS) and unnecessary acoustic noises are inevitable when using acoustic technique, this approach has not been adapted. In order to overcome this problem. We propose that acoustic wave of which the wave length is longer than audio frequency and, especially, we used beating signal envelope which is composed of two close high frequency.
The effects of external continuous wave optical injection on spectral comb of a 10 GHz harmonically mode-locked semiconductor fiber ring laser have been studied. Greater than 40 dB spectral deeps in the spectral comb and greater than 30 dB reduction of supermode beating noise are achieved by injecting coherent light with ~ 100 KHz spectral width. To examine the possibility of using a low-cost seed source, we replace the seed source by a DFB laser with ~ 10 MHz spectral width. It shows similar spectral deeps, however supermode beating noise enhancement, rather than reduction, is observed.

For the purpose of reproduction of traditional gold thread, the artifact investigation was organized for 70 cases (109 pieces) of relics from Korea, China and Japan. In most cases, the main backside material of gold thread from Korea was the bast fibers from paper mulberry. In this study, the optimum sheet-making of Hanji for gold thread reproduction was tried by controlling several process factors of Hanji such as the cooking and beating time of paper mulberry fibers, the number of sheet-making ply, and converting method (Dochim). Tensile index, folding endurance and compressive strength of Hanji showed differences according to the correlation between cooking and beating time, and application of converting method (Dochim), while bending stiffness fell with decrease of thickness. These results can be applied to consider manufacturing factors to make Hanji for the production of gold thread.
Untreated severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is associated with poor outcomes. Functional TR occurs secondary to dilatation of the annulus and tethering of the leaflets. Ring annuloplasty alone can correct most cases, but is insufficient in cases of severe annular dilatation due to severe leaflet tethering. In such cases, a tricuspid edge-to-edge technique may be an option. However, stitching of the leaflet tips alone is likely to result in tearing of the leaflets. Approximation of the durable chordae tendineae is considered helpful for this problem. Herein, we present the case of a 39-year-old man who had undergone open-heart surgery for acute type A aortic dissection 13 months earlier. A right mini-thoracotomy approach with a beating-heart strategy was used, which did not require unnecessary pericardial adhesiolysis and dissection. This technique had the advantage of reducing the operation time and the risk of bleeding. To summarize, we present a case of tricuspid valve repair in a high-risk patient with severe leaflet tethering that was successfully managed using these methods.
To increase the strength properties of recycled fiber, especially OCC (Old Corrugated Container) in this study, we used the mechanical pretreatment on the fibers before refining. The mechanical action in the Hobart mixer induced high shear and compression on the fibers, which resulted in the breakdowns of fiber internal structure, and microcompressions on the surface of the fibers. We evaluated the degree of mechanical treatment by fiber curl index. Four different refining techniques were applied to the pretreated fibers (Valley beater, Kady mill, PFI mill, and Impact refining) to find the best combination of the pretreatment and the refining methods. Conclusions were summarized as followed. 1. In keeping the fiber length from shortening, Kady mill and PFI mill refining were effective. Kady mill and Valley beater application tended to straighten out the fiber shapes. 2. Valley beating increased the breaking length of the handsheets better than other methods, while lowering the tear strength most. The mechanical pretreatment increased breaking length about 10% in average irrespective of four different refining methods. 3. Tear strength was increased by the mechanical pretreatment and by the PFI mill refining. 4. Burst strength was increased by the mechanical pretreatment and by valley beating method. 5. In increasing the breaking length and burst strength while keeping tear strength, combination of mechanical pretreatment and Valley beating were most effective.
The difficulties of satellite vibration testing are due to the commonly expressed qualification requirements being incompatible with the limited performance of the entire controlled system (satellite + interface + shaker + controller). Two features cause the problem: firstly, the main satellite modes (i.e., the first structural mode and the high and low tank modes) are very weakly damped; secondly, the controller is just too basic to achieve the expected performance in such cases. The combination of these two issues results in oscillations around the notching levels and high amplitude beating immediately after the mode. The beating overshoots are a major risk source because they can result in the test being aborted if the qualification upper limit is exceeded. Although the abort is, in itself, a safety measure protecting the tested satellite, it increases the risk of structural fatigue, firstly because the abort threshold has been already reached, and secondly, because the test must restart at the same close-resonance frequency and remain there until the qualification level is reached and the sweep frequency can continue. The beat minimum relates only to small successive frequency ranges in which the qualification level is not reached. Although they are less problematic because they do not cause an inadvertent test shutdown, such situations inevitably result in waiver requests from the client. A controlled-system analysis indicates an operating principle that cannot provide sufficient stability: the drive calculation (which controls the process) simply multiplies the frequency reference (usually called cola) and a function of the following setpoint, the ratio between the amplitude already reached and the previous setpoint, and the compression factor. This function value changes at each cola interval, but it never takes into account the sensor signal phase. Because of these limitations, we firstly examined whether it was possible to empirically determine, using a series of tests with a very simple dummy, a controller setting process that significantly improves the results. As the attempt failed, we have performed simulations seeking an optimum adjustment by finding the Least Mean Square of the difference between the reference and response signal. The simulations showed a significant improvement during the notch beat and a small reduction in the beat amplitude. However, the small improvement in this process was not useful because it highlighted the need to change the reference at each cola interval, sometimes with instructions almost twice the qualification level. Another uncertainty regarding the consequences of such an approach involves the impact of differences between the estimated model (used in the simulation) and the actual system. As limitations in the current controller were identified in different approaches, we considered the feasibility of a new controller that takes into account an estimated single-input multi-output (SIMO) model. Its parameters were estimated from a very low-level throughput. Against this backdrop, we analyzed the feasibility of an LQG control in cancelling beating, and this article highlights the relevance of such an approach.
In this paper. a new indirect feedback active noise control (ANC) scheme barred on the fundamental frequency estimation is proposed for systems with a harmonic noise. When reference signals necessary for feedforward ANC configuration are difficult to obtain, the conventional ANC algorithms for multi-tonal noise do not measure the reference signals but generate them with the estimated frequencies.$^{(4)}$ However, the beating phenomena, in which certain frequency components of the noise vanish intermittently, may make the adaptive frequency estimation difficult. The confusion in the estimated frequencies due to the beating phenomena makes the generated reference signals worthless. The proposed algorithm consists of two parts. The first part is a reference generator using the fundamental frequency estimation and the second one is the conventional feedforward control. We propose the fundamental frequency estimation algorithm using decision rules. which is insensitive to the beating phenomena. In addition, the proposed fundamental frequency estimation algorithm has good tracking capability and lower variance of frequency estimation error than that of the conventional cascade ANF method.$^{(4)}$ We are also able to control all interested modes of the noise, even which cannot be estimated by the conventional frequency estimation method because of the poor S/N ratio. We verify the performance of the proposed ANC method through simulations for the measured cabin noise of a passenger ship and the measured time-varying engine booming noise of a passenger vehicle.
