Near-Field Receiving Measurement of Active Phased Array Antenna for Full Digital Radar Application (완전 디지털 레이다에 적용 가능한 능동위상배열안테나 근접전계 수신 시험)

  • A full digital receiving active phased array antenna generates final receiving beams by digital beam forming of received digital signals in element-level that makes difficult to use typical near-field measurement method. Thus in this paper, a modified near-field measurement method which is suitable for full digital receiving active phased array antenna is proposed. Also the measured results of receiving beam pattern and G/T using developed L-band full digital receiving active phased array antenna are shown for the verification of proposed method.

A Dynamic Explicit/Rigid-plastic Finite Element Analysis and its Application to Auto-body Panel Stamping Process (동적 외연적/강소성 유한요소 해석과 차체판넬성형에의 적용)

  • In the present work a rigid-plastic finite element formulation using dynamic explicit time integration scheme is proposed for numerical analysis of auto-body panel stamping processes. The rigid-plastic finite element method based on membrane elements has long been employed as a useful numerical technique for the analysis of sheet metal forming because of its time effectiveness. A damping scheme is proposed in order to achieve a stable solution procedure in dynamic sheet forming problems. In order to improve the drawbacks of the conventional membrane elements, BEAM(abbreviated from Bending Energy Augmented Membrane) elements are employed. Rotational damping and spring about the drilling direction are introduced to prevent a zero energy mode. The lumping scheme is employed for the diagonal mass matrix and linearizing dynamic formulation. A contact scheme is developed by combining the skew boundary condition and the direct trial-and-error method. Computations are carried out for analysis of complicated auto-body panel stamping processes such as forming of an oilpan, a fuel tank and a front fender. The numerical results of explicit analysis are compared with the implicit results with good agreements and it is shown that the explicit scheme requires much shorter computational time, especially when the problem becomes more complicated. It is thus shown that the proposed dynamic explicit rigid-plastic finite element method enables an effective computation for complicated autobody panel stamping processes.

  • An active phased array antenna consists of many channels. Each channel has a different initial phase shift and gain because of the inequality in the active circuits themselves, interface between radiators and active circuits, and beam-forming circuits and other antenna system configurations. This raises an inherent problem in active phased array antennas. To compensate for this problem the initial phase and gain of each channel should be calibrated. This paper presents an efficient calibration method for an initial phase variation of each channel in active phased array antennas. We tested our method in an active phased array antenna, and obtained good results in the radiation pattern and beam direction of antenna.

  • In this paper, a centralized mmWave-based multi-spot beam cellular system architecture having such a base station equipped with a plurality of beam-forming antennas, multi-layered dynamic cell configuration method as one of key concepts of this system operation and a mobility management method based on it are introduced. To estimate the performance of new system, system simulation was performed under the ideal environment without blockage. These results show the possibility that system capacity can be dramatically increased and mobility performance similar to the existing cellular system may be achieved.

A Study on the Roll Forming Characteristics of an Asymmetric Roller with a 6 mm Steel Plate using the Finite Element Method (유한요소법을 사용한 6 mm 후판의 비대칭 롤포밍 성형변형특성에 관한 연구)

  • As a novel method to produce a steel beam with 6mm thickness for buildings, a continuous roll forming process is reported. The roll shape is asymmetric and consists of 6 pairs of rollers to bend the steel plate from $0^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$. Results obtained upon application of the roll forming process showed that the angle of the section plate is $90^{\circ}$. However, defects such as bowing and camber as high as 3.2 [$^{\circ}/m$] were observed. A FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis was applied to investigate the causes of the results for the region between rollers no. 5 and no. 6. The results of a FEM simulation of deformation and stress showed that there are some strong peak stresses on the upper surface and bottom surface of the material. The positions of the peak stresses did not show a correspondence between the upper and bottom surfaces. Thus, the defects in the process of roll forming with a 6 mm thick steel plate occur by the unbalanced stresses between the upper surface and bottom surface of the material in this study.

  • Fictitious Crack Model(FCM) is one of the Nonlinear Analysis Method which is presented strictly strain softening phenomena of concrete in the fracture zone. As no stress singularities occur, it is not necessary to use special crack tip elements for this analysis. A special feature of the used method is that it explains not only the growth of existing cracks, but aslo the formation of new crack, as it is assumed that cracks start forming when the tensile stress reaches ft, i.e., the same criterion is used for formation and propagation of cracks.

This study showss that the plan software considered radiation, or mutual radiation impedance.   • The active phased array antenna system performs beam steering, multi-beam formation and adaptive beam forming by controlling the amplitude and phase of signals fed to each radiating element. In order to obtain the desired radiation characteristics using an active phased array antenna system, the accurate amplitude and phase of the signal must be fed to each radiating element; however, due to various causes, the signal errors occurs in each radiating element. In this paper, a signal error estimation method of each radiating element is proposed. The proposed method simplifies the process of signal error estimation, and can quickly and accurately calculate the signal error.

  • In this paper, we suggest a design method of a wide-band Butler matrix working at 5.9 GHz for V2X communication antennas. Since V2X communication needs beam-forming and beam-steering antennas to make transportation systems, mobile comm platforms, saturated frequency-resources, and signal TX-and-RX smart, multi-functional, resolved, and efficient utmost, respectively, the proper Butler matrix and its radiating elements as a low-profile geometry are realized. The constitutive components of the basic Butler matrix of a narrow band are designed first. And then, it is extended to a wide-band version to make its frequency-shift less affected by the event of the antenna system being mounted on a car body. The beam-forming and beam-steering performance is presented as the common feature tagged along with the different bandwidths of the frequency responses as the comparison between the narrow- and wide-band cases.

  • In this paper, we have studied a method of forming a line beam using a UV LED. The existing linear-type UV LED curing optical system is composed of several cylindrical lenses, but problems such as optical system alignment, enlargement of the module, efficiency, etc. may arise in the future. As an alternative to these problems, a bar-type TIR lens having a freeform surface only in the y-axis direction is designed, to verify that it shows advantages in maximum illuminance, uniformity of illuminance, and flux efficiency.
