Design of L-Band Cylindrical Active Phase Array Antenna Using Bent Dipoles (접힌 다이폴 구조를 적용한 L-Band 원통형 능동 위상배열 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose a cylindrical active phased array antenna of Beam Steering Characteristics in the horizontal plane(H-plane) and vertical plane(E-Plane) on the cylinder form array structure. We design the bent dipole antenna of the cylindrical array structure adapted excellent mutual-coupling characteristics, designed and manufactured the cylindrical array antennas and power combiner/divider unit for power dividing and combining on the antenna. The radiating elements array spacing of Cylindrical array antenna were determined to avoid grating lobes at half power beam steering. Beam steering of the antenna was implemented with 6-bit phase shifter in the transceiver and have been designed based on the characteristics the antenna beam steering at -24 degrees to 24 degrees horizontal, vertical 0 degrees to 36 degrees beam steering. A cylindrical active phased array antenna that produced for verification the performance of the antenna are measured radiation characteristics in accordance with beam steering at L-Band.

4 and 7 Element GPS Anti-jamming Algorithm Performance Analysis Considering the Relative Arrangement of the Multiple Jammers (비행체의 자세와 GPS 재머의 상대적인 배치상태를 고려한 4소자 및 7소자 항재밍장치에 대한 성능분석)

  • Null steering and beam steering are known well as anti-jamming methods in GPS anti-jamming system. Null steering gets a noise attenuation effect for the direction of jamming and beam steering earns additional gain synthesis for the direction of satellite signals. According to the research in the article for signal processing, it expresses that the N array antenna is effective for N-1 number of jamming signal by math public interest, however, the two algorithms analysis is not unknown for the operating condition of the realistic vehicle. In this paper, we modeled anti-jamming system using 4 and 7 array antenna and showed the two algorithms performance (PM, LCMV) when considering the number of antenna array, jammers and vehicle position (horizontal, vertical). In result, we showed that the case of vertical position of the vehicle which has large tilt angle for the relative position of satellites and jammers, has about 10 dB gain more in comparison with one of vertical position in spite of same JSR condition.

A Study on Multi Target Elevation Angle Estimation of Hight Directivity using Multi Stacked Beam Forming (다중 스택 빔 형성을 이용한 고 지향성의 다중 목표물 고각 추정에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a multi target's elevation angle estimation method using multi beam forming technique. This method make a stacked beam to digital processing a received signal in array element. There can be desired receiving beam to application weight value at antenna element in beam forming. Currently, we are to make multi stacked beam using fast fourier transform in stead of phase shifter to be a computer performance much improvement. Also, we improve multi beam directivity using beam steering error correction technique in order to beam steering to desired direction in receiver. Through simulation, we show that the proposed elevation estimation method based on fast fourier transform and beam steering error correction technique, improves th performance of target estimation compared to previous method.

  • The purpose of this paper is to reduce the level of idling vibration on a steering wheel. In some cases, vibration on steering wheel is amplified due to the resonance between the first natural frequency of T-beam and engine idling speed. Using SDM(structural dynamic modification) technique, T-beam is redesigned to reduce its vibration. This paper used FRF(frequency response function) synthesis technique which is entirely dependent on experiment. But this method requires lots of test efforts to enhance its reliability of design. While combining this method with an analytic method. the experimental burden, the major drawback of FRP synthesis method, can be considerably relieved. Using ana1ytic sensitivity analysis, some effective modification regions are preliminarily chosen as candidate Positions where SDM can be applied to modify T-beam\`s dynamic characteristics.

Beam Steering Antenna using Rotman Lens for BMWS Application (Rotman 렌즈를 이용한 BMWS용 빔 제어 안테나)

  • The conventional Rotman lens antenna using a waveguide lens has the bended waveguide from the inner lens contour to the antenna element. However in this paper the improved Rotman lens antenna having a straight waveguide is proposed. By applying this technique, the beam steering antenna for BMWS application which has 3 input ports and 6 antenna elements consisted of open-ended waveguide has been designed and fabricated. From the measurement, the gain of the beam steering antenna is 15.4 ~ 17.2 dB. The direction angle is 0$^{\circ}$, +14$^{\circ}$~ +16$^{\circ}$, -15$^{\circ}$~ -16$^{\circ}$ and the side lobe level is -l0 ~ 20 dB.

  • Feedback burden of a full-digital energy beamforming, which is known as the optimal precoding scheme for radio frequency (RF) energy transfer, is huge because it uses a vector quantization for a channel feedback. To reduce the feedback burden, we consider a beam steering based wireless energy transfer, which uses a scalar quantization. Researches related to the beam steering based wireless energy transfer have been studied in special channel model with an assumption of full channel state information at the transmitter. In this paper, we analyze the beam steering scheme compared with the full-digital energy beamforming for practical channel models with channel estimation errors. According to characteristics of the millimeter wave channel, the number of antennas of the base station and the user, the distance between them, and channel estimation errors, we simulate the performance of the beam steering scheme and analyze reasons why.

Beam Steering Antenna Using a Dipole and a Loop (다이폴 루프 결합형 빔 조향 안테나)

  • In this paper, we propose a reconfigurable beam steering antenna using a dipole and a loop. The radiation patterns of the two antennas were cancelled or compensated, and head for the specific direction when a dipole and a loop antenna are combined at the reasonable ratio. The structure of the antenna is very simple and planar. By changing on/ off states of switches, the proposed antenna can steer the beam direction in the x-y plane. Simulation results confirmed the steering characteristic by using two imaginary switches. The proposed antenna can change the direction of the maximum gain in the x-y plane($0^{\circ}$, ${\pm}50^{\circ}$). The proposed antenna operates in 2.5~2.56 GHz(VSWR<2). It showed that peak gain of the antenna is 1.96~2.48 dBi and overall beam width of the reconfigurable antenna covers about $125^{\circ}$.

A Study on Optimization of Single-Channel Monopulse Tracking System using Phased Array Antenna (위상배열안테나를 이용한 단일 채널 모노펄스 추적 시스템의 최적화에 관한 연구)

  • The radiation characteristics of a phased array antenna is changed according to the beam steering angle. The monopulse tracking system calculates the prediction angle using the radiation characteristics of antenna. Therefore, the monopulse ratio curve is changed according to the beam steering angle for the monopulse tracking system using a phase array antenna, and the tracking accuracy goes down. In the case of a single-channel monopulse system, the monopulse rate curve is controlled by the configuration variables of the system. In this paper, a simplified formula was presented for adaptive control of monopulse system configuration variables on beam steering angle. The presented formula can induce a uniform monopulse ratio curve for the beam steering angle as well as the phased array antenna design parameters.

  • This paper dedcribes the design. verification, and analysis techniques for an advanced phased array antenna. When applying an active phased array antenna to an aircraft or missile, miniaturization of the array antenna and wide-angle beam steering characteristics can be unavoidable antenna design considerations. In particular, the active reflection coefficient characteristics when electronically steering a wide-angle beam is a design parameter that must be minimized in terms of system survival and system performance. As a radiator suitable for broadband characteristics and wide-angle beam steering, this paper designed an array structure using SFN and minimized the active reflection coefficient according to beam steering of up to 40° based on the spherical coordivate system angle. The bandwidth of the radiator was confirmed to be 3GHz based on active reflection in the Ka-band. In addition, the performance of the actually manufactured 8by8 array antenna wsa analyzed by measuring the single pattern of the radiator through a near-field test, mathematically synthesizing it, and predicting the Tx/TRx beam used in the seeker system.

Beam Steering Antenna Using Microstrip Patch with U-Slot for Wearable Fabric Applications (의복용 U-슬롯을 갖는 빔 조향 마이크로스트립 안테나)

  • Reconfigurable beam steering using microstrippatch antenna with U-slot is proposed for wearable fabric applications. The proposed antenna is manufactured on a fabric substrate, and designed to steer the beam directions at the operation frequency of 6.0 GHz. The U-shaped slot and the indirect feeding-techniques are utilized in designing the proposed antenna. By the configuration of two artificial switches($S_0$, $S_1$, $S_2$) in between the indirect feed and the antenna patch, the antenna has three beam directions. The maximum beam directions are steerable in the yz-plane(${\theta}=0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $331^{\circ}$), and the overall HPBW is $115^{\circ}$. The measured peak gains are 6.11~6.69 dBi.
