This study was to evaluate GMA welding characteristics of the A15083-O aluminum alloy according to the shield gas mixing ratio and heat input change. The GMA welding of the base metal was carried out with flour different shield gas mixing ratios(Ar100%+He0%, Ar67%+He33%, Ar50%+He50%, and Ar33%+He67%). Regarding the if1uence on the bead shape of the shield gas mixing ratio and heat input, the bead width was greatest in Ar100%+He0% mixture. But the penetration depth and area were greatest in Ar33%+He67% mixture considering that the lower Ax gas ratio, the higher bead depth and area. Also, dilution was also best in the shield gas mixing ratio. The size and number of deflects were least in Ar33%+He67% mixture. Higher He gas ratio resulted in less deflects detected by the radiographic inspection.
Positioning the workpiece accurately and preventing the weld distortion, tack welding is often performed before main welding in the construction of welded structures. The weld bead size of the tack weld is determined according to the workpiece thickness, weld length, weld joint type etc. However, this tack weld deteriorates the final weld bead profile, so that the grinding process is usually adopted for the uniform weld bead profile. In this study, an experimental method for the selection of optimal welding condition was proposed in the fillet weld which was done over the tack weld. This method uses the response surface analysis in which the leg length and the reinforcement height of weld bead were chosen as the quality variables of weld bead profile. The overall desirability function, which was combined desirability function for the two quality variables, was used as the objective function for getting the optimal welding condition. From the result, it was revealed that a uniform weld bead can be obtained by adopting the optimal welding condition which was determined according to the method proposed.
In this study, the sphericity of calcium alginate gel beads was optimized using response surface methodology. The optimum conditions for bead sphericity were a concentration of 2.24% sodium alginate, a flow rate of 0.059 mL/sec for the sodium alginate solution, and a 459 rpm rotation for the calcium chloride solution. The predicted and experimental bead sphericities under the optimum conditions were 94.5 and 96.7%, respectively, showing close agreement. We also investigated the processing condition effects for the physical properties of the optimized calcium alginate gel beads. Immersion in hot water slightly decreased bead size and rupture strength. NaCl treatment increased bead size and decreased rupture strength. While the pH of the calcium chloride solution had little effect on bead sphericity, the bead sizes and gel strengths decreased with longer times in each pH solution. The beads coated with pectin and glucomannan showed no significant changes in sphericity, but their sizes decreased with time. The coated beads showed higher rupture strengths than the uncoated beads.
This study deals with high power Nd:YAG laser welding of thin steels for small pressure vessels. Full penetration welding at the overlap joint was performed so as to assure sufficient weld strength. Results showed that mid-depth weld size reduced drastically with increasing the travel speed. Position of focus had little effect on the bead formation even though short focal system was used. However, the shape factor and the bead width had closely related with the position of focus. Based on the microstructural inspection, acceptable weld was obtained when the overlap clearance was controlled up to 20% of the base metal thickness. In the case that the joint contained more clearance than the critical value, both the tensile shear strength and the tear strength were reduced. Results also demonstrated that shielding gases were proved to play a key role as far as the bead formation characteristics was taken into consideration. Blowing dry air through 5mm in diameter nozzle produced narrower bead cross-section than that of argon or nitrogen shielding.
The laser welding and its analysis of thin-sheet carbon steels were carried out with high power $CO_{2}$ laser. The main factor of weld quality of laser welding is gap and edge quality. This work was preformed to focus on the gap tolerance problem during laser welding. First, bead on plate welding of thin sheet was examined to investigate the effect of laser welding variables, and to obtain optimum welding condition. Butt welding was also carried out to show the effect of gap on the laser weldability of thin sheet. In order to investigate the effect of gap on formability of welded thin sheet, LDH test was caried out. At high welding speed, the partial penetration was obtained by low heat input. Otherwise, porosity was formed in the bead at low weld speed because of too much heat input. The optimum welding condition of welding was derived from bead width, penetration and hardness property. The maximum gap tolerance on laser welding was observed to be about 0.2mm. This gap size has good relationship with beam size of laser spot(about 0.3mm). The formability of welded sheet was about $80{\%}$ value of base metal and the gap size has not affected on the formability, although weld quality is dependent on the gap size.
In this paper, we investigated the application method and properties of 0.1 mm, 0.2 mm and 0.3 mm beads, which can secure a certain thickness due to the molding stability of joint surfaces of different materials (aluminum and composite). In order to verify this, the influence was evaluated according to the thickness of the adhesive in the Double lap test and the FEM simulation. As a result, it was confirmed that as the content of the bead of the adhesive increased more than 1%, the strength of the adhesion increased and the elongation decreased. We confirmed as the size of the bead became larger, the rigidity became lower and the elongation increased.
In this work, Iron Nano-Particles Impregnated BioChar/bead (INPBC/bead) soil amendment was developed to increase biochar's reactivity to As in soil and preventing possible wind loss. Prior to preparation of INPBC/bead, INPBC was produced utilizing lignocellulosic biomass and Fe(III) solution in a hydrothermal method, followed by a calcination process. Then, the bead type amendment, INPBC/bead was produced by cross-linking reaction of alginate with INPBC. FT-IR, XRD, BET, and SEM-EDS analyses were utilized to characterize the as-synthesised materials. The particle size range of INPBC/bead was 1-4 mm, and different oxygen-containing functional groups and Fe3O4 crystalline phase were produced on the surface of INPBC/bead, according to the characterization results. The soil cultivation test was carried out in order to assess the stabilization performance of INPBC/bead utilizing As and Pb-contaminated soil obtained from an abandoned mining location in South Korea. After 4 weeks of culture, TCLP and SPLP extraction tests were performed to assess the stabilization efficacy of the amendment. The TCLP and SPLP findings revealed that raising the application ratio improved stabilizing efficiency. The As stabilization efficiency was determined to be 81.56 % based on SPLP test findings for a 5% in (w/w) INPBC/bead treatment, and the content of Pb in extracts was reduced to the limit of detection. According to the findings of this study, INPBC/bead that can maintain pH of origin soil and minimize wind loss might be a potential amendment for soil polluted with As and heavy metals.

Both $Al_2O_3$ and AlN nanopowders with diameters from ${\mu}m$ to mm were bead-milled and surface-modified by stabilizing agent. The size of bead-milled nanoparticles compared with the primary powder was effectively decreased and was dependent on milling time and bead size. The results of dispersion stability analysis indicated that chemical bonding between nanoparticles and surfactant is more effective than chemical adsorption to prepare the stable transformer oils containing nanoparticles. In this study, the thermal conductivity of the transformer oils containing nanoparticles was measured by transient hot-wire and laser flash methods.
Graphene has a wide spectrum on its application field due to various and excellent physical properties. However, it is very difficult to apply that graphene exists as lump or fold condition in general organic solvents. Besides, graphene was difficult to maintain as uniform condition due to chemical inert and distributions with various size and shapes. Therefore, this study was focused to study dispersion and modifying methods of aggregated graphene. The dispersion methods contain as follow: i) physical milling using glass bead, ii) co-treatment of glass bead and ultrasonic waves, iii) dispersion in organic solvents, iv) modifying with dry-ice. Milling using glass bead with size 2.5 mm was effective to be size decrease of 36.4% in comparison with control group. Mixed treatment of glass bead (size 2.5 mm) and ultrasonic waves (225W, 10 min) showed relative size decrease of 76%, suggesting that the size decrease depends on the size of glass bead, intensity of ultrasonic waves and treatment time. Solvents of Ethyl acetate (EA) and Isoprophyl alcohol (IPA) were used in order to improve dispersion by modifying surface of graphene. IPA of them showed a favorable dispersion with more -CO functional groups in the FT-IR analysis. On the other hand, the oxygen content of graphene surface modified by dry-ice was highly increased from 0.8 to 4.9%. From the results, it was decided that the favorable dispersion state for a long time was obtained under the condition of -CO functional group increase in IPA solvent.

Nanosized and aggregated $Y_2O_3:Eu$ Red phosphors were prepared by template method from metal salt impregnated into crystalline cellulose. The particle size and photoluminescent property of $Y_2O_3:Eu$ red phosphors were controlled by variation of the calcination temperature and time. Dispersed nanosol was also obtained from the aggregated $Y_2O_3:Eu$ Red phosphor under bead mill wet process. The dispersion property of the $Y_2O_3:Eu$ nanosol was optimized by controlling the bead size, bead content ratio and milling time. The median particle size ($D_{50}$) of $Y_2O_3:Eu$ nanosol was found to be around 100 nm, and to be below 90 nm after centrifuging. In spite of the low photoluminescent properties of $Y_2O_3:Eu$ nanosol, it was observed that the photoluminescent property recovered after re-calcination. The dispersion and photoluminescent properties of $Y_2O_3:Eu$ nanosol were investigated using a particle size analyzer, FE-SEM, and a fluorescence spectrometer.
