  • Recently, hybrid generation systems combine multiple energy sources or storage components to optimize the characteristics of the individual energy sources. In this paper, a battery integrated PV power optimizer for PV-battery hybrid power generation system is proposed. PV system using proposed topology can easily increase battery capacity and remove high power bidirectional converter to control bulky battery bank.

  • Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and battery charging control are two important functions for a solar battery charger. The former improves utilization of the available solar energy, while the latter ensures a prolonged battery life. Nevertheless, complete implementation of both functions can be complex and costly, especially for low voltage application such as standalone street lamps. In this paper, the operation of a solar battery charger for standalone street light systems is investigated. Using only one voltage sensor, the solar charger is able to operate in both MPPT and constant voltage (CV) charging mode, hence providing high performance at a low cost. Using a lab prototype and a solar simulator, the operation of the charger system is demonstrated and its performance under varying irradiance is validated.

  • A bidirectional dual active converter with the power factor control capability is proposed as a battery charger. The source side half-bridge acts as a PWM converter that maintains the unity power factor. The battery side half-bridge converter acts as a dual active bridge (DAB) together shares the same DC link voltage with PWM converter. The imbalance voltage phenomenon is eliminated by employing asymmetric duty cycle technique. Simulation results are included to verify theoretical analysis.

  • A protection integrated circuit which enables the stable operation of the rechargeable battery should be designed with a low-power architecture because it consumes the power of the battery. This paper proposed a low-power scheme especially when the several series-connected batteries are provided. By adopting a time sharing control of the batteries, the chip size and power consumption could be reduced.

  • To increase the efficiency of the photovoltaic, almost photovoltaic appliances are controlled by Maximum Power Point Tracking(MPPT). Existing most of the PV MPPT techniques have used power which multiplies sensed output current and voltage of the solar cell. However, these algorithms are unnecessarily complicated and too expensive for small and compact system. The other hand, the proposed MPPT technique is only one sensing of the MPPT converter's output current, so there is no need to insert another sensors of battery side. Therefore, this algorithm is simpler compared to the traditional approach and is suitable for low power solar system. Further, the novel proper charge/discharge algorithm for the battery with PV MPPT is developed. In this algorithm, there is CC battery charge mode and load discharge mode of the PV cell & battery dual. Also we design current control to regulate allowable current during the battery charging. The proposed algorithm will be applicable to battery included solar cell applications like solar lantern and solar remote control car. Finally, the proposed method has been verified with computer simulation.

  • This study proposes an optimized design of a dual active bridge converter for a low-voltage charger in a military uninterrupted power supply (UPS) system. The dual active bridge converter is among various bi-directional DC/DC converters that possess a high-efficiency isolated bi-directional converter. In the general design, the zero-voltage switching(ZVS) region is reduced when the battery voltage is high. By contrast, efficiency is low because of high conduction losses when the battery voltage is low. Variable switching frequency is applied to increase the ZVS region and the power conversion efficiency, depending on battery voltage changes. At the same duty, the same power is obtained regardless of the battery voltage using the variable switching frequency. The proposed method is applied to a 5 kW prototype dual active bridge converter, and the experimental results are analyzed and verified.

  • In this paper, we proposed battery driven low power algorithm in mobile device. Algorithm the mobile devices in power of the battery for the task to perform power consumption to reduce the frequency alters. The calculated consumption power the battery of level is greater than level the frequency by adjusting power consumption, lower power of the battery the task perform when you can to the frequency to adjust. Experiment the frequency by adjusting power consumption a method to reduce using [6] and in the same environment power of the battery consider the task to perform frequency were controlled. The results in [6] perform does not battery power on task operates that the result was.

  • This paper presents the implementation and control methods of a battery simulator. The proposed battery simulator can emulate the dynamic characteristics of any actual battery using the second RC ladder model of the equivalent circuit. Moreover, it can emulate the variation of impedance, which is the result of the change of battery characteristics due to the aging effect. The parameters of the battery simulator can be derived from the sequence of tests of the actual battery or only from the data supplied by the battery manufacturer. Proposed methods for the battery simulator are tested by extensive experiments. Test results show that the proposed battery simulator can emulate not only the dynamic characteristics but also the aging effects of the actual battery in real time.

  • As regulations on environmental pollution of ships have been strengthened, interest in smart ships such as electric propulsion ships equipped with hybrid power systems is increasing. Since batteries used in electric propulsion ships have a larger capacity than batteries used in vehicles, the price is high and maintenance is considered important. The ship's battery is manufactured as an integral type and is managed by the battery management system, and the maintenance and repair of the battery is performed through the replacement of the battery. we design and implement a battery module and a control algorithm using pre-cell for easy battery management. In addition, a controller is designed to transmit the data necessary for the electric propulsion ship power system control to the power control system. When a battery to which the corresponding spare-cell is applied is used, the stability of the ship and the battery system is increased, and it can have an advantage in terms of maintenance and repair.

  • Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) are essential in the future power systems because they can improve power usage efficiency. In this paper, we propose the countermeasure for improving the power quality using coordinated control of BESS(Battery Energy Storage System) on EV connected system. To verify the performance of proposed scheme, we simulate on the actual power system of KEPCO and compare the results of voltage variation, frequency variation, and load factor with those of uncoordinated control. From the simulation results, we confirm that frequency and voltage deviation are significantly reduced with proposed coordinated control of BESS.
