리튬이온전지의 밀봉용접을 위한 펄스 Nd:YAG레이저 용접조건의 최적화 (Optimization of Pulsed Nd:YAG Laser Welding Conditions for Sealing of Lithium-ion Battery)

  • Laser material processing is a very fast advancing technology for various industrial applications. because of many advantages. Its major advantage of less and controlled heat input has been exploited successfully for the very critical application of aluminium alloy welding. This study suggested the occurrence source of weld-defects and its solution methods in a welding of lithium ion battery by pulsed Nd:YAG laser. In experiment. battery case has changed over joint geometry from welding of side position to flat one. In the case of a electrolyte injection hole in order to seal it. welding is carried out after pressing Al ball. At this time. an eccentric degree. contact length and gap are worked as a major parameters. As improving the method of Al ball pressing. it was able to reduce an eccentricity. increase the contact length and decrease gap. As a results of a experiment. a sound weld bead shape and crack-free weld bead can be obtained.

Its major advantage of less and controlled heat input has been exploited successfully for the very critical application of aluminium alloy welding. Synthesis LiFePO4- poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) composite cathode material for rechargeable lithium battery by hydrothermal method

  • Poly (sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) is ionomer based on polystyrene that is electrical conductivity and isoviscosity. LiFePO4 has been a promising electrode material however its poor conductivity limits practical application. To enhance the electronic conductivity of LiFePO4, in this study we prepared LiFePO4- PSS composite by the hydrothermal method. LiFePO4 was heated at $170^{\circ}C$ for 12h and then different wt% PSS (0%, 2.91%, 4.75%, 7.36%, 10%) are added to LiFePO4 and milled at 300rpm for 10h. And then the obtained powders were subsequently heated at $500^{\circ}C$ for 1h under argon flow. The cathode electrode were made from mixtures of LiFePO4-PSS: SP-270- PVDF in a weighting ratio 75%: 25%:5%. The electrochemical properties of LiFePO4- PSS/Li batteries were analyzed by cyclic voltammetry and charge/discharge tests. LiFePO4-C/Li battery with 4.75 wt% PSS displays discharge capacity of 128 mAh g-1 at room temperature that is considerably higher than pure LiFePO4/Li battery ( 113.48 mAhg-1).

Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control of AC/DC Matrix Converter for Grid-Connected Battery Energy Storage Application

  • This paper presents a finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) strategy for the AC/DC matrix converter used in grid-connected battery energy storage system (BESS). First, to control the grid current properly, the DC current is also included in the cost function because of input and output direct coupling. The DC current reference is generated based on the dynamic relationship of the two currents, so the grid current gains improved transient state performance. Furthermore, the steady state error is reduced by adding a closed-loop. Second, a Luenberger observer is adopted to detect the AC input voltage instead of sensors, so the cost is reduced and the reliability can be enhanced. Third, a switching state pre-selection method that only needs to evaluate half of the active switching states is presented, with the advantages of shorter calculation time, no high dv/dt at the DC terminal, and less switching loss. The robustness under grid voltage distortion and parameter sensibility are discussed as well. Simulation and experimental results confirm the good performance of the proposed scheme for battery charging and discharging control.

Regenerative Energy Characteristics of Battery and Supercapacitor in a PEMFC Hybrid System

  • This study focuses on the application of the PEM Fuel Cell(PEMFC) hybrid system, which includes a regenerative braking system with supercapacitor(SC) and battery. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the characteristics of regenerative energy and to propose solutions to increase regenerative energy via vehicle simulation. To achieve this target, we set the rated motor speed to 3,000/2,500/2,000 rpm. Because the flywheel is directly connected to the motor, the generator activates regenerative braking by using the rotational momentum of the flywheel when the flywheel reaches the set speed after the motor stops. We could then measure the characteristics of regenerative braking of voltage, current, power, energy change, etc. Meanwhile, we calculate the storage efficiency of the SC or the battery. Our results show that the SC stores 18% of the regenerative energy, while battery stores 15% of the energy. Since the regenerative energy decreases with the decrease of the motor rotating speed that 5,027 J and 2,915 J are restored at 3,000 and 2,500 rpm, respectively. The experimental results also prove that regenerative braking energy is able to be obtained if and only if the speed of flywheel is over 2,500 PRM, and the efficiency of the system can be further improved.

산업용 니켈 아연전지 음극성능 향상 (Improvement of the Negative Plate Performance on Industrial Ni-Zn Battery)

  • 니켈 아연전지(Ni-Zn)를 산업용 전지로 이용하려면, 음극성능 향상이 필요하다. 기존의 니켈 아연전지(Ni-Zn)는 짧은 수명, 심한 가스발생 및 빠른 전해액 증발이 산업용 전지 상용화의 최대 문제점이었다. 본 연구에서 도전 촉진제, 첨가제 및 바인더를 변경하여, 8셀의 거동을 고찰하였다. 바인더 및 흡착 촉진제($Ca(OH)_2$, $Bi_2O_3$)의 종류를 변경한 결과, 기존보다 가스발생은 감소하면서, 균일하고 단단한 전극을 제조할 수 있었다. 또한 전해액에 EG-EP#12(비중 1.26) 보충함으로써 전지 내 전해액의 비중이 일정하게 유지되어, 전지의 수명이 기존보다 200~300%의 획기적인 성능 향상을 보였다.

  • 최근 발생한 원전 사고는 소외전원 및 비상전원의 기능이 상실되어 발전소 전체 정전이 발생한 사례를 계기로 원전의 비상전원공급용 배터리의 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 현재 원전의 비상전원공급용 배터리는 기존의 납축전지를 대신하여 리튬계열 배터리로 교체가 고려되고 있는 상황이다. 이에 따라 원통형 리튬 배터리의 적용성을 판단하기 위해 여러 가지 리튬 계열 배터리의 전기적 특성 실험을 진행하여 결과를 분석해야 한다. 본 논문은 현재 ESS(Energy Storage Systems)에 많이 사용되는 세 가지 타입의 리튬 배터리의 전기적 특성실험을 통해 적절한 배터리 타입을 선정하고, 선정된 배터리가 비상전원공급용 배터리로 사용될 때 최적의 C-rate를 제안한다. 또 배터리 모델링을 통해 배터리의 상태를 추정하며 문제점을 제시한다.

  • The scott transformer changes three-phase power to two single-phase power. However, this method causes unbalance and fluctuation of voltage by the change of electric railload. Recently, the AC railway system based on $3{\Phi}/1{\Phi}$ back-to-back (BTB) voltage source converter (VSC) has been proposed to solve these problems. Meanwhile, battery energy storage system (BESS) is used to compensate voltage instantaneously in power system. In this paper, BESS application to the AC railway system based on $3{\Phi}/1{\Phi}$ BTB VSC is suggested to compensate voltage instantaneously. The application effect is shown through simulation using MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Recent Progress on Sodium Vanadium Fluorophosphates for High Voltage Sodium-Ion Battery Application

  • Na-ion batteries are being considered as promising cost-effective energy storage devices for the future compared to Li-ion batteries owing to the crustal abundance of Na-ion. However, the large radius of the Na ion result in sluggish electrode kinetics that leads to poor electrochemical performance, which prohibits the use of these batteries in real time application. Therefore, identification and optimization of the anode, cathode, and electrolyte are essential for achieving high-performance Na-ion batteries. In this context, the current review discusses the suitable high-voltage cathode materials for Na-ion batteries. According to a recent research survey, sodium vanadium fluorophosphate (NVPF) compounds have been emphasized for use as a high-voltage Na-ion cathode material. Among the fluorophosphate groups, $Na_3V_2(PO_4)_2F_3$ exhibited the high theoretical capacity ($128mAh\;g^{-1}$) and working voltage (~3.9 V vs. $Na/Na^+$) compared to the other fluorophosphates and $Na_3V_2(PO_4)_3$. Here, we have also highlighted the classification of Fluorophosphates, NVPF composite with carbonaceous materials, the appropriate synthesis methods and how these methods can enhance the electrochemical performance. Finally, the recent developments in NVPF for the application in energy storage devices and its outlook are summarized.

어뢰 추진전지 품질개선을 통한 저장안정성 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improvement of Storage Safety through Quality improvement of Torpedo Propulsion Battery)

  • 논문에서는 국내에서 운용되는 수중유도무기(어뢰) 중 추진전지(리튬이차전지)의 전해질 누액에 의한 발연현상을 방지하기 위하여 추진전지의 절연블록 추가를 통한 절연성능 강화 및 단전지 전해액 누액 방지 개선방법에 관해 기술하였다. 국내에서 리튬이차전지를 주전원공급원(추진전지)으로 사용하고 있는 어뢰에 발열 및 발연 현상이 발생하여 해군의 장비 운용에 불편함이 초래되었다. 발연현상에 대한 유의 항목 확인 및 모사시험 결과 전지팩 단위에서 일부 전지셀의 전해질이 누액되어 고전압부분의 주전원 회로와 단자탭간에 단락현상이 발생하여 해당 현상이 발생하였다. 발열 및 발연현상 시 리튬이차전지 특성 및 메커니즘 분석을 통하여 원인분석을 진행하였다. 리튬 이차전지의 전해질 누액 방지를 위해 근본적 개선책(단자 탭 강화)과 보완책(절연블록 선정 및 설치) 등 설계 개선을 수행하였고, 개선 전 후의 성능시험 비교 결과 탭 단자의 인장강도가 약 2배 향상, 내압 특성 또한 향상되었으며, 절연성능 강화로 어뢰의 추진전지 품질을 대폭 개선하였다. 또한 품질개선 방안이 적용되어 3년 이상 야전 운용 결과 이상발연 현상은 발생하지 않았다. 이로써 어뢰 추진전지의 운용 및 저장 안정성 기대된다.
