  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the adequacy of production capacity of the assembly process system of mobile bath vehicle's top box panel and process design through a simulation analysis. Towards this end, the layout of the facility designed with pre-verification job using a simulation modeling and an experiment, and facility, logistics process, and personnel input method were made into a simulation model, and the design system's adequacy was evaluated through an experiment. To produce 120 mobile bath vehicles annually, it was analyzed that 14 general workers and seven skilled workers were adequate through the experiment. It was also identified that three painting process lines carried out through outsourcing were adequate. Production lead time was 201.7 hours on average and it was 230 hours maximum. To meet customer delivery service level of 95% within the deadline when establishing a customer order and vehicle delivery plan, it was analyzed that more than 215 hours of lead time is needed minimum. If the process cycle time is reduced to 85% upon system stabilization and skillfulness improvement, it was analyzed that annual output of 147 vehicles can be achieved without additional production line expansion.

  • The cleaning process to remove small particles, ions, and other polluted sources is one of the major parts in the recent semiconductor industry because it can cause fatal errors on the quality of the final products. According to the other reports, the major factors of bath's fluid motion are the cleaning method, nozzle, the geometry (of bath, guide and wafer), and the position (of guide and wafer). So to enhance cleaning efficiency in the bath, these factors must be controlled. The purpose of this study is to analyze and visualize fluid motion in the cleaning bath as basic data for designing the nozzle system and finding the process control parameters. For that, we used the general CFD code FLUENT.

  • The coagulation process of PAN (poly(acrylonitrile)) wet-spinning was modeled and simulated based on the numerical analysis of the coagulation of a viscous polymer solution by diffusional interchange with a bath. Experiments were performed with gelled solutions of PAN in nitric acid to determine the diffusion rate of solvent and nonsolvent (water) during the coagulation. The experimental data were analyzed by using equations of diffusion coefficient which are the function of the solvent concentrations of the coagulation bath and the filament. The concentration profile of solvent in moving filament was predicted by solving the diffusion model equation numerically. A simplex method was used in the computation of the parameters of the diffusion equations to minimize the difference between the numerical results and experimental data.

  • Recently washing machines are to be in lower vibration and lower sound because of better environment. Vibration problems in washing machines occur in both washing mode and spinning mode, but vibration in spinning mode becomes main problem because of its high rotating speed and continuity. Vibration while spinning is mainly due to rigid body motion of total washing system which includes suspending rods, washing bath, spinning bath, and gear sets. In this study, some researches were done in order to analyze the rigid body motion of washing system and flexible vibration of spinning bath. A basic mathematical model was established, and the effect of position of salt water and shape change of salt water case were considered. And the effect of lengths of suspending rods, attaching angles, vertical and horizontal position, stiffness of spring on the change of vibration were also considered. To identify the effect of salt water on vibration, some measurements were done. When salt water was positioned at upper part, the effect was most and this coincides with the tendency of simulation.

  • This study was carried out for the purpose of determination of maintenance period and investigation of weak point due to freeze when the gas heater of KOGAS valve station Is not operated in winter season. 3-dimensional non-linear numerical simulation was conducted in order to predict the time and location which bath water in heater reaches to ice point. FLUENT V 5.0, commercial code, is used for thermal fluid flow analysis. We thought this was problem of heat conduction solving the energy equation and modeled gas heater by using the real geometry and scale for performing the 3-dimensional simulation. It was analyzed complex heat transfer phenomena considering convection due to air on surface, conduction in insulation material, natural convection of liquid in heater and heat loss through the pipe.

  • This article discusses the issue of optimizing controller design issues, in which the artificial intelligence (AI) evolutionary bat (EB) optimization algorithm is combined with the fuzzy controller in the practical application of the building. The controller of the system design includes different sub-parts such as system initial condition parameters, EB optimal algorithm, fuzzy controller, stability analysis and sensor actuator. The advantage of the design is that for continuous systems with polytypic uncertainties, the integrated H2/H∞ robust output strategy with modified criterion is derived by asymptotically adjusting design parameters. Numerical verification of the time domain and the frequency domain shows that the novel system design provides precise prediction and control of the structural displacement response, which is necessary for the active control structure in the fuzzy model. Due to genetic algorithm (GA), we use a hierarchical conditions of the Hurwitz matrix test technique and the limits of average performance, Hierarchical Fitness Function Structure (HFFS). The dynamic fuzzy controller proposed in this paper is used to find the optimal control force required for active nonlinear control of building structures. This method has achieved successful results in closed system design from the example.

  • Due to the influence of nonlinearity and time-variation, it is difficult to establish an accurate model of concrete frame structures that adopt active controllers. Fuzzy theory is a relatively appropriate method but susceptible to human subjective experience to decrease the performance. To guarantee the stability of multi-time delays complex system with multi-interconnections, a delay-dependent criterion of evolved design is proposed in this paper. Based on this criterion, the sector nonlinearity which converts the nonlinear model to multiple rule base of the linear model and a new sufficient condition to guarantee the asymptotic stability via Lyapunov function is implemented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMI). A numerical simulation for a three-layer reinforced concrete frame structure subjected to earthquakes is demonstrated that the proposed criterion is feasible for practical applications.

  • Water quenching is one method of cooling after hot forming, which is presently being used for the manufacturing of automobile parts. The formed parts at room temperature are heated and then cooled rapidly in a water bath to produce high strength. The formed parts may undergo excessive thermal distortion during the water quench. In order to predict the distortion during water quenching, a coupled thermo-mechanical simulation is needed. In the current study, the simulation of heating and cooling of boron steel cylinders was performed. The material properties for the simulation were calculated from JMatPro, and the convective heat transfer coefficient was obtained from experimental tests. The results show that the thermal distortion and the residual stresses are well predicted by the coupled simulation.

  • We model and simulate master-driven TDD wireless communication systems, e.g., Bluetooth systems. We model the Bluetooth system and use the BONeS simulation tool to conduct event-drivers simulations. In order to support more than seven slave devices in a piconet, a park mode is considered and modeled. We evaluate the performance, i.e., throughput and delay, using simulations when multi-connections (bath ACL and SCO connections) are present in a piconet. We show that the data rate of ACL connections may be less than 20 kbps when SCO connection(s) and more than six ACL connections are jointly supported in a piconet. In addition, if up to five ACL connections are supported, the average delay is shown to be maintained less than 20 msec. Our results can serve as a guideline to the design of master-driven TDD wireless communication systems with performance requirements.

  • Thrust-ring-pump is a kind of extreme-low specific speed centrifugal pump with special structure as numerous restrictions from thrust bearing and operation conditions of hydro-generator units. Because the oil circulatory and cooling system with thrust-ring-pump has a lot of advantages in maintenance and compactness in structure, it has widely been used in large and medium-sized hydro-generator units. Since the diameter and the speed of the thrust ring is limited by the generator set, the matching relationship between the flow passage inside the thrust ring (equivalent to impeller) and oil bath (equivalent to volute) has great influence on hydrodynamic performance of thrust-ring-pump. On another hand, the head and flow rate are varying with the operation conditions of hydro-generator units and the oil circulatory and cooling system. As so far, the empirical calculation method is employed during the actual engineering design, in order to guarantee the operating performance of the oil circulatory and cooling system with thrust-ring-pump at different conditions, a collaborative hydrodynamic design and optimization is purposed in this paper. Firstly, the head and flow rate at different conditions are decided by 1D flow numerical simulation of the oil circulatory and cooling system. Secondly, the flow passages of thrust-ring-pump are empirically designed under the restrictions of diameter and the speed of the thrust ring according to the head and flow rate from the simulation. Thirdly, the flow passage geometry matching optimization between thrust ring and oil bath is implemented by means of 3D flow simulation and performance prediction. Then, the pumps and the oil circulatory and cooling system are collaborative hydrodynamic optimized with predicted head-flow rate curve and the efficiency-flow rate curve of thrust-ring-pump. The presented methodology has been adopted by DFEM in design process of thrust-ring-pump and it shown can effectively improve the performance of whole system.
