이산화티탄 광촉매 졸(sol)의 실내환경 코팅에 의한 실내공기질 개선 (Improvement of Indoor Air Quality by Coating of Indoor Materials of $TiO_2$ Photocatalyst Sol)

  • Three methods for VOCs emissions control in indoor air are reduction at the source, ventilation between indoor and outdoor, and removal. The best alternative should be to replace highly emitting sources with sources having low emissions, but the pertinent information on VOCs is not always available from manufactures. Other ways of improving indoor air quality are needed. It is to increase the outside fresh-air flow to dilute the pollutants, but this method would generally provide only a dilution effect without destruction in residence. An ideal alternative to existing technologies would be a chemical oxidation process able to treat large volumes of slightly contaminated air at normal temperature without additional oxidant such as ozone generator and ion generator. Photocatalytic oxidation(PCO) represents such a process. It is characterized by a surface reaction assisted by light radiation inducing the formation of superoxide, hydroperoxide anions, or hydroxyl radicals, which are powerful oxidants. In comparison with other VOCs removal methods, PCO offers several advantages. The purpose of this study was to explore the possibilities for photocatalytic purification of slightly contaminated indoor air by using visible light such as flurescent visible light(FVL). In this study, a PCO of relatively concentrated benzene using common FVL lamps was investigated as batch type and total volatile organic compounds(TVOCs) using a common FVL lamp and penetrated sun light over window. The results of this study shown the possibility of TiO$_2$ photocatalyst application in the area of indoor air quality control.

크로스홀 탄성파 시험을 이용한 쇄석다짐말뚝의 시공직경 검측 (Logging for Diametric Variation of Granular Compaction Pile Using Crosshole Seismic Tests)

  • Stone columns, locally called "GCP (granular compaction pile)" can be used to improve strength and resistance against lateral movement of a foundation soil like rigid piles and piers. Also installation of such a discrete column facilitates drainage, and densifies and reinforces the soil in the sense of ground improvement. The integrity of the GCP has been indirectly controlled with the records of each batch including depth and the quantity of stone filled. An integrity testing was attempted using crosshole S-wave logging. The method is conceptionally same as the crosshole sonic logging (CSL) for drilled piers. The only and critical difference is that S-wave should be used in the logging, because P-wave velocity of the stone column is less than that of ground water. The crosshole sonic logger does not have the capability to measure S-wave propagating through the skeleton of crushed stone. An electro-mechanical source, which can generate either P- or SH-waves, and a 1-D geophone were used to measure SH-waves. Two 76mm diameter cased boreholes were installed 1 meter apart across the nominal 700mm diameter stone column. At every 10cm of depth, shear wave was measured across the stone column. One more borehole was also installed 1 meter outward from the one of the above boreholes to measure the shear wave profile of the surrounding soil. The diametric variation of the stone column with respect to depth was evaluated from the shear wave arrival times across the stone column, and shear wave velocities of crushed stone and surrounding soil. The volume calculated with these variational diameters is very close to the actual quantity of the stone filled.

  • K-최근접 이웃 연결(KNN 연결) 알고리즘은 기계학습에서 매우 효과적인 방법으로, 작은 데이터군에 대해서 널리 사용되어 왔다. 데이터의 수가 증가함에 따라, 단일 컴퓨터에서는 메모리와 수행시간의 제약으로 실제적인 응용프로그램에서는 실행하기에 적합하지 못하였다. 최근에는 대규모 데이터 처리를 위해서, 많은 수의 컴퓨터로 이루어진 클러스터에서 실행될 수 있는 맵리듀스 (MapReduce)로 알려진 알고리즘이 널리 사용되고 있다. 하둡은 맵리듀스 알고리즘을 구현한 프레임워크이지만 스파크라고 하는 새로운 프레임워크에 의하여 그 성능이 월등히 개선되었다. 본 논문에서는, 스파크에 기반하여 구현된 KNN 연결 알고리즘을 제안하였으며, 이는 인메모리(In-Memory) 연산 기능의 장점으로 하둡보다 빠르고 보다 효율적일 것으로 기대한다. 실험을 통하여, 수행시간에 영향을 주는 요소들에 관하여 조사하였으며, 제안한 접근 방식의 우수성과 효율성을 확인하였다.

  • Nowadays, small quantity batch production, which is so-called a flexible manufacturing system, is a major trend in the modern factory automation industry. The demands for new transportation system are increased gradually, with which multiple passive carriers carrying materials and semi-products are precisely and individually controlled along a single closed rail. Thus, a new type of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM), which consists of state coils on a single rail and PM movers as many as carriers, is proposed in this paper. The rail can be segmented as modules with pairs of coils and a current amplifier, which makes the transportation system simple; therefore, the rail can be easily extended and repaired. A design method of the new PMLSM with a single carrier is proposed, which can be thought as a new version of PMLSM, a coil-segmented coreless PMLSM (CS-CLPMLSM). Experimental setup for it is made, and propulsion results show that with the help of a new effective coil selection and switching algorithms, the conventional current-based vector control is sufficient to fulfill the position and velocity control of the new PMLSM. The proposed PMLSM is expected to fulfill seamless servo-control of multiple carriers also in process line, such as a new generation of flat panel display manufacturing line.

야자계 활성탄에 의한 Brilliant Blue FCF 염료의 흡착 동력학 및 열역학에 관한 연구 (Adsorption Kinetics and Thermodynamics of Brilliant Blue FCF Dye onto Coconut Shell Based Activated Carbon)

  • 야자계 활성탄을 사용하여 수용액으로부터 brilliant blue FCF 염료의 흡착에 대해 조사하였다. 회분식 실험은 흡착제의 양, 초기농도와 접촉시간과 온도를 흡착변수로 사용하여 수행하였다. 흡착평형자료는 Langmuir와 Freundlich 식을 사용하여 해석하였으며, Freundlich 식이 더 좋은 일치도를 나타냈다. 평가된 Freundlich 상수(1/n=0.129~0.212)로부터 활성탄에 의한 brilliant blue FCF의 흡착조작이 적절한 처리방법이 될 수 있음을 알았다. 흡착속도실험자료를 유사일차반응속도식과 유사이차반응속도식에 적용해 본 결과, 흡착동력학은 유사이차반응속도식에 잘 맞는 것으로 나타났다. 음수값의 Gibbs 자유에너지(-4.81~-10.33 kJ/mol)와 양수값의 엔탈피(+78.59 kJ/mol)는 흡착이 자발적이고 흡열공정으로 진행된다는 것을 나타낸다.

LDPE/PS 블렌드의 전기적 성질에 미치는 상용화제로서의 SEBS의 효과 (Compatibilizing Effect of SEBS for Electrical Properties of LDPE/PS Blends)

  • We investigated compatibilizing effects of electrical properties such as charge distributions and electrical breakdown in blends of low density polyethylene (LDPE) / polystyrene (PS) with poly [styrene-b-(ethylene-co-butylene)-b-styrene] (SEBS), the triblock copolymer. The blends with $70\;wt\%$ of LDPE and $30\;wt\%$ of PS were prepared through a melt blending in a batch type kneader at a temperature of $220^{\circ}C$ when the SEBS content increased up to $10\;wt\%$. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was investigated for observation of morphology of LDPE / PS blends increasing SEBS contents. The morphological observation showed that addition of SEBS results in the domain size reduction of the dispersed PS phase and a better interfacial adhesion between LDPE and PS phases. Measurements of space charge distributions for blends was carried out with pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) method. It was possible to observe that the amount of charge storage in the LDPE / PS blends decreased wiか increasing of SEBS content. The location of SEBS at a domain interface enables charges to move from one phase to the other via domain interface and results in a indicative decrease in the amount of space charge for the LDPE / PS blends with SEBS. Electrical breakdown strength of these blends was observed. It was found that the maximum breakdown strength of the blend was 51.55 kV/mm. These results were better than 38.38 kV/mm of LDPE used electrical insulator for cables and were caused by crystalinity of blends. Because the crystalinity of blends were lower than LDPE, electrical breakdown strength of LDPE / PS blends is higher than that of LDPE. We evaluated the possibility of these blends for insulating material substituted LDPE.

  • 바이오매스로부터 합성액체오일을 생산하기 위한 방법의 하나로써 Fischer-Tropsch 합성이 세계적으로 주목을 받고 있다. $C_7-C_{15}$ 파라핀의 수첨이성화 반응은 세탄넘버의 향상과 저점도, 유동점, 및 어는점 등의 저온유동특성의 개선을 위하여 디젤연료의 생산 공정에 적용된다. Fischer-Tropsch 합성으로부터 생산되는 Jet fuel 등의 상업적인 제품들은 낮은 끓는점과 유동점을 개선해야 한다. 본 연구는 합성 오일로부터 bio-jet fuel을 제조하기 위한 수첨이성화 반응용 촉매를 개발하는데 있다. 수첨이성화 반응용 백금/제올라이트 촉매의 특성을 분석하고 모델반응으로써 도데칸의 수첨이성화반응 성능을 회분식반응기에서 조사하였다.

Degradation of synthetic dye in water by solution plasma process

  • In this study, the solution plasma process was utilized with the aim of degrading synthetic dyes in water at atmospheric pressure. The experiments were conducted in a batch-type reactor consisting of a symmetric wire-wire electrode configuration with rhodamine B (RhB) as the target synthetic dye. The effects of the plasma treatment time and initial dye concentration on the RhB degradation were investigated by monitoring the change in absorbance of RhB solutions. The RhB solutions turned lighter in color and finally colorless with prolonged plasma treatment time, indicating the destruction of dye molecules. The RhB solutions were found to have degraded, following the first-order kinetic process. However, for high initial RhB concentrations, another kinetic process or factor seems to play a dominant role at the initial degradation stage. The fitted first-order rate constant decreased as the initial concentration increased. This result suggests that the degradation behavior and kinetic process of the RhB solution strongly depends on its initial concentration. The RhB degradation is considered to be due to a combination of factors, including the formation of chemically oxidative species, as well as the emission of intense UV radiation and high-energy electrons from the plasma. We believe that the solution plasma process may prove to be an effective and environment-friendly method for the degradation or remediation of synthetic dye in wastewater.

디스패칭 룰 기반의 Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) 시스템 활용 사례연구 (A Case Study on Application of Dispatching Rule-Based Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) System)

  • Up-to-date business environment for manufacturers is very complex and rapidly changing. In other words, companies are facing a variety of changes, such as diversifying customer requirements, shortening product life cycles, and switching to small quantity batch production. In this situation, the companies are introducing the concept of JIT (just-in-time) to solve the problem of on-time production and on-time delivery for survival. Though many companies have introduced ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems and MRP (material requirement planning) systems, the performance of these systems seems to fall short of expectations. In this paper, the case study on introducing an APS (advanced planning and scheduling) system based on dispatching rules to a machining company and on finding a method to establish an efficient production schedule is presented. The case company has trouble creating an effective production plan and schedule, even though it is equipped with an MRP-based ERP system. The APS system is applied to CNC (computer numerical control) machines, which are key machines of the case company. The overall progress of this research is as follows. First, we collect and analyze the master data on individual products and processes of the case company in order to build a production scheduling model. Second, we perform a pre-allocation simulation based on dispatching rules in order to calculate the priority of each order. Third, we perform a set of production simulations applying the priority value in order to evaluate production lead time and tardiness of pre-defined dispatching rules. Finally, we select the optimal dispatching rule suitable for work situation of the case company. As a result, an improved production schedule leads to an increase in production and reduced production lead time.

Enhancement of Pyruvate Production by Torulopsis glabrata : through Supplement of Oxaloacetate as Carbon Source

  • The capability of utilizing a TCA cycle intermediates as the sole carbon source by the multi-vitamin auxotrophic yeast Torulopsis glabrata CCTCC M202019 was demonstrated with plate count method. It is indicated that T. glabrata could grew on a medium with one of the TCA cycle intermediates as the sole carbon source, but more colonies were observed when glucose, acetate and one of the TCA cycle intermediates coexisted in the medium. Among the intermediates of the TCA cycle examined in this study, cell growth was improved by supplementing oxaloacetate. Further investigation showed that the presence of acetate was necessary when oxaloacetate was supplemented. By supplementing with 10 g/L of oxaloacetate in pyruvate batch fermentation, dry cell weight increased from 11.8 g/L to 13.6 g/L, and pyruvate productivity was enhanced from $0.96\;gL^{-1}h^{-1}\;to\;1.19 gL^{-1}h^{-1}$ after cultivation of 56 h. The yield of pyruvate to glucose was also improved from 0.63 g/g to 0.66 g/g. These results indicate that under vitamins limitation, the productivity and yield of pyruvate could be enhanced via an increase of cell growth by the supplementation of oxaloacetate.
