  • For recipe prediction of colorant proportion showing nonlinear behavior, we modeled the effects of colorant proportion of basic colors on the target colors and predicted colorant proportion necessary for making target colors. First, colorant proportion of basic colors and color information indicated by the instrument was applied by a linear model and a multi-layer perceptrons model with back-propagation learning method. However, satisfactory results were not obtained because of nonlinear property of colors. Thus, in this study the neuro-fuzzy model with merit of artificial neural networks and fuzzy systems was presented. The proposed model was trained with test data and colorant proportion was predicted. The effectiveness of the proposed model was verified by evaluation of color difference(ΔE).

  • Under the power-based capture model, a transmission is successfully received at the destination, even in the presence of other transmissions and background noise, if the received signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio exceeds a capture threshold. We evaluate the spectral efficiency of simple multi-user channels by combining the basic capture model with a communication-theoretic model. The result is a more refined capture model that incorporates key system design parameters (such as achievable bit rate, target bit error rate, channel bandwidth, and modulation signal constellations) that are absent from the basic capture model. The relationships among these parameters can serve as a tool for optimizing the network performance.

  • We consider an integrated supply chain model in which multiple suppliers replenish items for a single buyer's demand. Also the buyer specifies a basic replenishment cycle and the suppliers replenish the items only at those time intervals. Namely, we propose a model to study and analyze the benefit by coordinating supply chain inventories through the basic replenishment cycle time. The objective of this model is to minimize the total relevant annual cost of the integrated inventory model. After developing proposed coordinated models, we suggest heuristics for searching the solutions of our models. Finally, numerical and computational experiments for each policy are carried out to evaluate the benefits of those models and the compensation policy is addressed to share the benefits.

  • The basic goal of software development is to produce high quality software at low cost. Therefore, when to stop software testing and release the software product is a significant point in the software development. The software cost model is an effective tool used to help software developers control costs and determine the release time. In this paper, we discuss the cost model to apply all 6 models with consideration of time to remove errors, cost of removing each error and risk cost due to software failure. We show the impact of cost coefficients and parameter values on the expected total cost by changing the values and comparing the optimal release times.

  • This paper attempted to analyze impacts of transition in electricity generation system on a national economy and environmental level in Korea using a recursive computable general equilibrium(CGE) model. In particular, the paper presented a hybrid model combining the top-down CGE model with the bottom-up model which describes the structure of electricity production in detail. The impacts were analyzed by two policy scenarios base on the basic plan for electricity supply and demand proposed by the Korean government. As a result, the paper specifically showed that there exists a trade-off relationship in the policy-making between economic efficiency and environmental level. The paper also suggested that the transition in electricity generation system should be done more gradually and carefully.

  • This study investigates the impact of precautionary measures, such as isolating exposed individuals, wearing masks, and maintaining physical distance, on preventing infectious disease. A deterministic SEIQHRV epidemic model is employed for this purpose. The model's positivity, boundedness, disease-free, and endemic equilibrium points are identified. A sensitivity test assesses the impact of preventive measures on infected classes. Results show that a basic reproduction number less than unity drives disease eradiction, while a higher unity value encourages the adoption of preventive measures.

  • As the Internet and Java technology have been growing up, parallel processing approach to utilize those idle resources connected to the Internet has become quite attractive. In this paper, JICE(Java Internet Computing Environment) was implemented as a parallel computing platform based on the Internet using multithreading and RMI mechanisms provided by Java. The basic model of JICE is constructed as three components, such as a client, a set of workers, and a broker. A worker communicates with other workers via a globally shared memory system. It provides users with master-slave programming model and a collection of library functions. The basic model of JICE is also extended as a multimanaging system. This multimanaging system is evaluated by analysis to show its effectiveness. According to numerical analysis and experiments with several benchmarks, it is shown that the performance of basic model depends on the shared memory reference ratio and user's library is a quite promising.

  • In this paper we have constructed a mathematical model of alcohol abuse which consists of four compartments corresponding to four population classes, namely, moderate and occasional drinkers, heavy drinkers, drinkers in treatment and temporarily recovered class. Basic reproduction number R0 has been determined and sensitivity analysis of R0 indicates that β1 (the transmission coefficient from moderate and occasional drinker to heavy drinker) is the most useful parameter for preventing drinking habit. Stability analysis of the model is made using the basic reproduction number. The model is locally asymptotically stable at disease free or problem free equilibrium (DFE) E0 when $R_0<1$. It is found that, when R0=1, a backward bifurcation can occur and when $R_0>1$, the endemic equilibrium E becomes stable. Further analysis gives the global asymptotic stability of DFE under some conditions. Our important analytical findings are illustrated through computer simulation. Epidemiological implications of our analytical findings are addressed critically.

  • In this study, in order to prevent cavitation in a variable swash-plate type hydraulic pump, a basic model impeller has been applied to a new pump, and the impeller shape has been optimized through flow analysis. Based on the analysis results, we could propose an impeller shape with high efficiency and low possibility of cavitation in comparison with the basic model. The simplification of the basic shape of the impeller of the hydraulic pump was performed in three parts in the order of hub shape, wing, and curvature, and eight design parameters were defined to satisfy the design requirement. Compared with the initial model of the impeller, when the differential pressure of the optimum model increased, the efficiency was improved. It achieved the goal of design improvement because cavitation did not occur under the rated operating conditions.

  • The number of human accidents in the construction industry is increasing every year, and it constitute the highest percentage among industry. This means that activities performed to prevent safety accidents in the country are not efficient to reduce the rate of accidents in the construction industry. In order to solve this issue, research has been conducted from various perspectives. But, research regarding to quantification model of human accidents is insufficient. the objective of this study is to conduct a basic study on quantification model development of human accidents. To achieve the objective, first, Cause of accident is defined the through literature review. Second, a basic statistic analysis is conducted to determine the characteristics of the accident causes. Third, the analysis is conducted after dividing into four categories : accumulate rate, season, total construction cost, and location. In the future, this study can be used as a reference for developing the safety management checklist for safety management in construction site and development of prediction models of human accident.
