The rose bengal reagent, based on the phase transfer catalysis technique, is a calcium-targeting reagent that forms an insoluble salt that does not dissolve in a neutral or basic solution. It is expected to be effective in developing a latent fingerprint in a wet sample. However, many previous studies did not observe the fluorescence of the developed fingerprints, nor were the proposed methods of producing the reagents the optimal develop conditions. The aim of this study was to investigate the optimum reagent composition of rose bengal by varying the concentration of rose bengal dye and phase transfer catalyst based on maximum emission fluorescence of rose bengal. As a result, it was confirmed that rose bengal and surfactant concentration were the most effective when 0.01M: 0.008M, respectively.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning and possible shape of Goryeo-Achungunsura-jisun(高麗鴉靑雲袖羅質孫) through the details regarding its color, fabric, and pattern in the $13-14^{th}$ century writings and costume relics. Goryeo-Achungunsura-jisun was the summer dress coat that government officials wore during the Jisun feast of Yuan, and it was symbolic of the political strategy of Yuan as well as the excellent Goryeo fabric material, but no relics remain. During this period, Achung (dark blue)was the color that was used to dye silk, dress coats of upper class men, and background fabric of the embroidered official patch. And, the term, Yunsu (cloud sleeves), was probably sleeves with cloud pattern. The most typical cloud pattern in the 13 and the $14^{th}$ century was the 'flowing, gathering-headed cloud'. The Ra(silk gauze) weaving technique of Goryeo was developed rapidly in the $12^{th}$ century, and the quality of the Ra in the late Goryeo was good enough to be used for making the official's dress coat in the golden age of Yuan. According to the characteristic of jisun and man's formal-suit style in the Mongolian-Yuan, the possible styles for Goryeo-Achungunsura-jisun can be summarized as follows: a basic Mongolian gown with narrow sleeves and deep crossed diagonal opening, a Mongolian gown with waist pleats, the combination of half sleeved gown and long sleeved Mongolian gown. These styles would be made of delicate Goryeo Ra, cloud patterned sleeves, fabrics dyed in dark blue color, and shawl or embroidered patch ornaments for officials of Yuan, which was more simple than materials for Khan's Jisun to avoid rebellions.
In order to increase protease stability of a novel Trp-rich model antimicrobial peptide, $K_6L_2W_3$ (KLWKKWKKWLK-$NH_2$)and investigate the effect of L-amino acid to peptoid residue conversion on biological functions, we synthesized its antimicrobial peptoid, $k_6l_2w_3$. Peptoid $k_6l_2w_3$ had similar bacterial selectivity compared to peptide $k_66L_2W_3$. The bactericidal rate of $k_6l_2w_3$ was somewhat slower than that of $K_6L_2W_3$. Peptoid $k_6l_2w_3$ exhibited very little dye leakage from bacterial outer-membrane mimicking PE/PG liposomes, as observed in $K_6L_2W_3$, indicating that the major target site of $K_6L_2W_3$ and $k_6l_2w_3$ may be not the cell membrane but the cytoplasm of bacteria. Trypsin treatment of $K_6L_2W_3$ completely abolished antimicrobial activities against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. In contrast, the antimicrobial activity of $k_6l_2w_3$ was completely preserved after trypsin treatment. Taken together, our results suggested that antimicrobial peptoid $k_6l_2w_3$ can potentially serves as a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of microbial infection.

The basic experiments on the plastic sea eel pots used in fishing were carried out in order to investigate the elasticity of the funnel ribs, hydrodynamic resistance, sinking time and diffusion of the bait from June to October, 1987. The elasticity of the bamboo funnel ribs was higher than that of the polypropylene ribs up to the load 150g. The hydrodynamic resistance R (kg) of the pots towing to the head direction horizontally in relation to towing velocity V (m/sec) was expressed as following formula; R=0.36V super(2.01) and coefficient of drag C sub(D) was 0.52. The sinking times of the covered pots by tape fully or partially were late 1-2 second than the typical pots within the water depth 7.5m. The diffusion tendency through the covered pots using dye and sardine extracts solution was concentrated to the entrance more than the typical pots. However, fishing efficiency as number and weight of fish per pots for nine times fishing operation was revealed no difference between the covered pots and the typical pots.
Post and core is used to restore endodontically treated teeth, and it is a very important part which supplies retention and support to the prosthesis. But occasionally, caries occured due to the microleakage at the post and core and tooth interface, the failure of prosthesis has happened. In this study, the microleakage of cast gold post and core, amalgam core, and composite resin core was investigated and compared. The coronal part of the extracted upper anterior teeth were removed and endodontically treated with conventional method. The teeth were divided into three groups. In group 1, cast gold post and core was cemented with resin cement and in group 2, ready-made post was cemented with resin cement and amalgam core was built. In group 3, ready-made post was cemented with resin cement and composite resin core was built. All specimens were thermocycled between $5^{\circ}C\;and\;55^{\circ}C$ with dwell time of 15 seconds, and immersed in 0.5% aqueous solution of basic fuchsin dye for 24 hours. After embedded in the epoxy resin, the specimens were sectioned longitudinally and observed with stereomicroscope with the magnification of 25. From the findings of this study, the following conclusions were obtained. 1. There was microleakage at the core/tooth interface of all specimens. 2. The microleakage of gold post and core was significantly less than those of the other two groups. 3. There was no significant difference between the microleakage of amalgam core and that of composite resin core.

This study provides the optimum papain treatment method and its effect on wool/polyester blend fabrics. The enzymatic treatment condition is optimized depending on its pH level, temperature, concentration of enzyme, treatment time and concentration of activators. The characteristics of samples treated with the papain are measured using weight loss, tensile strength, whiteness, WCA, dyeing property and surface micrographs. The results are described as follows: According to measuring weight loss, tensile strength and whiteness, a pH level of 7.5, $70^{\circ}C$, 10% papain(o.w.f.) and 60minutes of treatment time are optimized for papain treatment. L-cysteine and sodium sulfite are able to activate the papain. The optimum concentrations of them are 10mM and 50mM respectively. The WCA of fabrics is decreased since papain treatment makes wool/polyester blend fabrics more hydrophilic. Scouring with papain treatment improves whiteness and dyeing property of fabrics. The dyeing property of papain-treated fabrics is enhanced simply by a single step dyeing process using a basic dye. The surface of wool treated with papain in the presence of L-cysteine shows to be descaled. The surface of wool fibers in the presence of sodium sulfite, however, shows it is hydrolyzed evenly instead of being descaled. The surface of papain treated polyester fibers shows cracks and voids.
Objectives: This study aimed to assess the effect of 38% carbamide peroxide on the microleakage of class V cavities restored with either a silorane-based composite or two methacrylate-based composites. Materials and Methods: A total of 96 class V cavities were prepared on the buccal surface of extracted human teeth with both enamel and dentin margins and were randomly assigned into three groups of Filtek P90 (3M-ESPE) + P90 system adhesive (3M-ESPE)(group A), Filtek Z250 (3M-ESPE) + Adper Prompt L-Pop (3M-ESPE)(group B) and Filtek Z350XT (3M-ESPE) + Adper Prompt L-Pop (group C). Half of the teeth were randomly underwent bleaching (38% carbamide peroxide, Day White, Discus Dental, applying for 15 min, twice a day for 14 day) while the remaining half (control) were not bleached. Dye penetration was measured following immersion in basic fuchsine. Data were statistically analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests at a level of 0.05. Results: No significant differences were found between composites in the control groups in enamel (p = 0.171) or dentin (p = 0.094) margins. After bleaching, microleakage of Z250 (in enamel [p = 0.867] or dentin [p = 0.590] margins) and Z350 (in enamel [p = 0.445] or dentin [p = 0.591]margins) did not change significantly, but the microleakage of P90 significantly increased in both enamel (p = 0.042) and dentin (p = 0.002) margins. Conclusions: No significant differences were noted between the bleached and control subgroups of two methacrylate-based composites in enamel or dentin margins. Microleakage of silorane-based composite significantly increased after bleaching.
The purpose of this study was to observe the microleakage of composite resin filling using several glass ionomer cements. The Class V cavities of eighty noncarious human molars were prepared at the cementoenamel juction on the facial and lingual surfaces of each tooth with a No.330 carbide bur in a high speed handpiece. The cavity dimensions were $3.0{\pm}0.5mm$ wide, $2.0{\pm}0.5mm$ high, and $1.5{\pm}0.5mm$ deep and all enamel cavosurface margins were beveled with a No.558 carbide bur in low speed handpiece. The bevel was approximately $45^{\circ}$ and 0.5-1.0mm in width. A total of the 160 cavities was divided into four groups, and then 144 cavities among them were three experimental groups and remaining sixteen cavities were control group. All of the prepared cavities were restored as follows: group 1 : Preparations were restored with there three glass ionomer cements. group 2 : Preparations were restored with a composite resin with three glass ionomer cement bases placed $0.2{\pm}0.1mm$ short of the cavosurface margin. group 3 : Preparations were restored with a composite resin with three glass ionomer cement bases extened to the cavosurface margin. group 4 : As control group, preparations were restored with a composite resin, PALFIQUE. The specimens were then thermocycled in a range of $6^{\circ}C-60^{\circ}C$ and immersed in a bath of 2.0% aqueous basic fuchsin solution for 24 hours. Dye penetration was read on a scale of 0 to 4 by Tani and Buonocore's method. The following conclusions were derived from the results obtained; 1. All groups showed significantly more leakage at the gingival margins than at the occlusal margins(p<0.0005). 2. At the gingival margins, group 1 showed less leakage than group 3(p<0.01) and group 4(p<0.0005), while group 3 exhibited less leakage than group 2(p<0.01) and group 4(p<0.0005). 3. At the occlusal margins, group 4 showed less leakage than group 3(p<0.1) and group 1(p<0.005), while group 3 exhibited less leakage than group 2(p>0.1) and group 1(p<0.025).
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of cavity configurations on the marginal leakage of class 5 glass ionomer cement and composite resin restorations. Four types of cavities such as saucer shape. notch shape. combined shape(notch shape occlusally and saucer shape gingivally). and U shape were prepared on the buccal and lingual surfaces of 80 extracted premolars(40 cavities for each shape). Occlusal cavity margins were placed at enamel and cervical margins were placed at dentin. 10 cavities of each shape were restored with Ketac Fil as a conventional glass ionomer cement. Fuji II LC improved as a resin modified glass ionomer cement, Z 100 as a hybrid composite resin. and Tetric Flow as a flowable composite resin (40 cavities for each material). After thermocycling, teeth were immersed in 5% basic fuchsin solution for 6 hours and sectioned longitudinally in a buccolingual direction through the center of the restoration. The dye penetrations at the tooth restoration interface were examined by stereomicroscope. The Result were as follows 1. In saucer shape, notch shape and combined shape, composite resin restorations showed lesser leakage than glass ionomer restorations(p<0.05) and in U shape. Tetric Flow showed the least marginal leakage and others were decreased as Z 100. Fuji II LC improved, Ketac Fil in that order. There were statistically significant difference between Tetric Flow and Fuji II LC improved. Ketac Fil and between Z 100 and Ketac Fil(p<0.05). 2. In Ketac Fil restoration group, saucer shape showed the highest marginal leakage and U shape showed the least marginal leakage and others were decreased as notch shape, combined shape in that order. There were statistically significant difference between saucer shape and combined shape, U shape and between notch shape and U shape(p<0.05). 3. In Fuji II LC improved restoration group, U shape showed the least marginal leakage. There were statistically significant difference between U shape and other three shapes(p<0.05). 4. The cavity configuration had no significant effect on marginal leakage of composite resin restorations(p>0.05).

This study was done to provide basic data on prevention of breast cancer by identifying and analyzing risk factors for breast cancer in Korean women. The data were collected from three hospitals. The data from Jan. 1995 to Dec. 1997 was based on the patient recordings and personal contacts if possible. Data from 1998 to 1999 was collected from 280 inpatients and outpatients diagnosed as breast cancer. From this data, information about the risk factors of breast cancer could be acquired. The factors are scaled according to the degree of risk. Menstrual history, obstetrical history, family history. lactation period, life style were given 5 point, and body mass index was given 4 point. Using one-way ANOVA. the most important risk factors were identified and analyzed by multiple regression. The conclusion of this study are as follows : General factors which would show an effect on the results of the multiple regression included risk factors such as menstrual history, obstetrical history, lactation period, family history, and life style factors including mortal state, monthly income, educational level, job and age. Family history(R=0.481) was found to be the highest risk factor(23.1%) affecting breast cancer risk. The next factors were dying hair(R=0.603), drinking(R=0.846), body mass index(R=0.885), smoking(R=0.916), age of menopause(R=0.937), pregnancy age of first full-term(R=0.957), eating vegetable(R=0.980) and the number of full term pregnancies in that order. The sum total(R=0.986) of all the above factors accounted for 97.3% of the risk of breast cancer for Korean women. In conclusion, it was found that family history and dyeing hair were the highest risk factors for breast cancer. It is recommended that those with a family history of breast cancer should have regular breast examinations, and those who often dye their hair should reconsider this practice.
