A Study on the Viewing Experience and Performance of Professional Baseball Team: The Team Performance Side and the Fan Performance Side

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the structural relationship among fan experience, fan satisfaction, team attachment, psychological well-being, team loyalty and quality of life. Specifically, the structural equation model is analyzed for the team performance side leading to fan experience-fan satisfaction-team attachment-team loyalty and the an performance side leading to fan experience-fan satisfaction-psychological well-being-quality of life. The survey to achieve the goal of this study is a professional baseball fan. 150 pilot envestigation and 348 main envestigation were selected as the final effective samples. Data processing was done with SPSS 23 for frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis. Also, AMOS 21 was used for confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model analysis. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, fan experience had a positive effect on the fan satisfaction. Second, fan satisfaction had a positive effect on the team attachment. Third, fan satisfaction had a positive effect on the psychological well-being. Fourth, team attachment had a positive effect on theteam loyalty. Fifth, psychological well-being had a positive effect on the quality of life.

A study of current awareness and preference on Korean professional baseball team's promotion for products (프로야구의 상품마케팅에 대한 인식 및 선호도 조사)

  • The main purpose of this study was to identify the current awareness and preference on the promotions of products in Korean professional baseball teams. For this study, the subjects were randomly selected where they have experienced purchasing any products in the Korean professional baseball stadium. Totally, 520 subjects were asked to answer the questionnaire relevant to the current awareness and preference of promotion of products. There were 11 questions for the current awareness and 14 questions for the preference on the promotion of products. The data gathered was determined within a frequency analysis, an independent sample T-test and one-way ANOVA tests. The results were discussed when the p-value were lest than .05. There were a couple of results found throughout this study. Firstly, there were no significant differences of the current awareness between gender. Secondly, there were significant differences of the preference on the promotion between age(p<.05). Especially, there were significant differences on the value of products and price between 20's, 30's and 40's groups. Thirdly, there were significant differences of the preference on the promotion between level of earing per year statistically(p<.05). In addition, there were significant differences on the price of products between 2000-2500 million won, 2500-3000 million won and 4000 million won groups. Consequently, the product promotion by the Korean professional baseball teams has to be more variety and structured.

Analysis of the Importance and Satisfaction of Viewing Quality Factors among Non-Audience in Professional Baseball According to Corona 19 (코로나 19에 따른 프로야구 무관중 시청품질요인의 중요도, 만족도 분석)

  • The data processing of this study is focused on keywords related to 'Corona 19 and professional baseball' and 'Corona 19 and professional baseball no spectators', using text mining and social network analysis of textom program to identify problems and view quality. It was used to set the variable of For quantitative analysis, a questionnaire on viewing quality was constructed, and out of 270 survey respondents, 250 questionnaires were used for the final study. As a tool for securing the validity and reliability of the questionnaire, exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis were conducted, and IPA analysis (importance-satisfaction) was conducted based on the questionnaire that secured validity and reliability, and the results and strategies were presented. As a result of IPA analysis, factors related to the image (image composition, image coloration, image clarity, image enlargement and composition, high-quality image) were found in the first quadrant, and the second quadrant was the game situation (support team game level, support player game level, star). Player discovery, competition with rival teams), game information (match schedule information, player information check, team performance and player performance, game information), interaction (consensus with the supporting team), and some factors appeared. The factors of commentator (baseball-related knowledge, communication ability, pronunciation and voice, use of standard language, introduction of game-related information) and interaction (real-time communication with the front desk, sympathy with viewers, information exchange such as chatting) appeared.

  • In this paper, suggests a gamification analysis method applied to screen sports. The analysis method is through the process of comparison, collection and application. In the process of comparison, compare the characteristics of actual sports and screen sports and Data collection to complement the differences derived from the comparison process is done during the collection process. Process of application is verify for application status of Gamification. and analyzed of screen golf and screen baseball. The result shows that screen golf couldn't apply walking exercise in the comparison process, and screen baseball couldn't apply exercise elements except batting. During the collection process, driving distance and swing data were used for screen golf, and driving distance, batting average and RBI (runs batted in) data were used for screen baseball. Lastly, it was revealed during the application process that both screen golf and screen baseball provide data to users by using reward, competition and Self-expression elements of gamification. The analysis methods presented in this study can be a method to analyze screen sports, and are expected to be appropriate methods to make screen sports.

Reexamination of Coach-Athlete Relationship Maintenance Scale in Pro Baseball (프로야구 코치-선수관계 유지 척도 재검증)

  • The purpose of this study was to prove a development and initial validation of the korean version of coach-athlete relationship maintenance scale that originated from the work of Rhind & Jowett(2012) in pro baseball. The items were then administered to 132 Participants(29 coaches and 103 athletes) completed the questionnaires of the coach-athlete relationship maintenance in First preliminary investigation. Maximum likelihood estimate was used to identify the latent underlying structure. In order to verify the validity of Korean version of coach-athlete relationship maintenance was administered to an independent sample of 273 coaches and athletes. Pro baseball coach-athlete relationship maintenance is consisted of six factors(25 items) with conflict management, motivational, preventative, openness/assurance, support, and social network. SPSS18.0 and AMOS16.0 were used to analyze the exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factory analysis and internal consistency, test-retest with bootstrapping using of the data in this study. The results of the pro baseball coach-athlete relationship maintenance scale had six factors with 25 items, and each six factor was positively correlated. Overall, this study verified pro baseball coach-athlete relationship maintenance questionnaire. Thus, suggest that path of comparing the differences between the first division and farm team by using the test of the structural model invariance across the groups.

A Study on the Emotional Solidarity of the Club and the Spectators for the Activation of Professional Baseball (프로야구 활성화를 위한 구단과 관중의 정서적 연대에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating effect of emotional bond in the effect of the congruence of self-image and the team's loyalty to professional baseball spectators, to enhance the effectiveness of emotional bond between the club and the spectator, and to suggest implications for establishing the club's brand marketing strategy. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on 500 professional baseball spectators, and the results of correlation analysis, stepwise regression analysis and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS 21.0 based on 450 collected data are as follows. First, among the professional baseball spectators and the team's self-image, the realistic self-image factor had a significant effect on the club's loyalty. Second, it was confirmed that the congruence of realistic self-image moderated the effect of congruence of realistic self-image on club loyalty. This result shows that the formation of emotional bond has no influence on the congruence of ideal self-image and is related to the realistic self-image that the club is showing at present. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a marketing strategy that can highlight this effect by considering these points.

Norm-referenced criteria for strength of the elbow joint for the korean high school baseball players using the isokinetic equipment: (Focusing on seoul and gyeonggi-do) (등속성 장비를 이용하여 한국고교야구선수 주관절 근력 평가기준치 설정: (서울 및 경기도 중심으로))

  • The purpose of this study was to establish norm-referenced criteria for the isokinetic strength of the elbow joint in Korean high school baseball players. Two hundred and one high school baseball players participated in this study, none of whom had any medical problem with their upper limbs. The elbow flexion/extension test was conducted four times at a speed of $60^{\circ}/sec$. The HUMAC NORM (CSMI, USA) system was used to obtain the values of the peak torque and peak torque per body weight. The results were presented as norm-referenced criterion valuesusing the 5-point scale of Cajori which consists of five stages (6.06%, 24.17%, 38.30%, 24.17%, and 6.06%). In the results of this study, the peak torques of the elbow (flexor and extensor?) at an angular velocity of $60^{\circ}/sec$ were $37.88{\pm}8.14Nm$ and $44.59{\pm}11.79Nm$, and the peak torque per body weight of the elbow (flexor and extensor?) were $50.06{\pm}8.66Nm$ and $58.28{\pm}12.84Nm$, respectively. The reference values of the peak torque and peak torque per body weight of the elbow flexor and extensor were setat an angular velocity of $60^{\circ}/sec$. On the basis of the results analyzed in this study, the following conclusions were drawn. There is a lack of proper studies on the elbow joint strength, even though the most common injury in baseball players occurs in the elbow joint. Therefore, we need to establish a standard muscle strength in order to prevent elbow joint injuries and improve their performance. The criteria for the peak torque and peak torque per body weight established here in will provide useful information for high school baseball players, baseball coaches, athletic trainers and sports injury rehabilitation specialists in injury recovery and return to rehabilitation, which can beutilized as objective clinical assessment data.
