  • Solar cell's efficiency depends on silicon's characteristic itself, or additional process such as texturing, coating, etc. Using PC1D, by adjusting Texturing, Base Resistivity, Emitter Doping, simulate many situation and observe the result. When texture Angle=$80^{\circ}$, Texture Depth=2um, Base Resistivity = 0.2, Emitter Doping = 8*Exp(19) are set, the solar cell's efficiency si 19.89%, and optimized.

  • The effect of gadolinium and boron on the texture development and magnetic properties of the texture controlled 23Cr-10NiCu duplex stainless steels were studied to develop a high performance neutron and electromagnetic shielding material. The 23Cr-10NiCu base alloy is composed of 60% of austenite and 40% of ferrite, whereas, the 23Cr-10NiCu-0.5Gd-0.8B modified alloy is composed of 66% of austenite, 27% of ferrite and 7% of CrFeB intermetallic compounds. The gadolinium and boron addition to the 23Cr-10NiCu base alloy increased mechanical properties. Microstructure observation showed that the small addition of 0.5 wt% gadolinium and 0.8 wt% boron to the alloy retarded to form texture at the same hot rolling conditions, and improved the maximum magnetism, residual magnetism and coercive force about 3%, 122% and 120%, respectively.

  • Texture transfer is a NPR technique for expressing various styles according to source (reference) image. By late 2000s, there are many texture transfer researches. But video base researchers are not active. Moreover, they didn't use important feature like directional information which need to express detail characteristics of target. So, we propose a new method to generate texture transfer animation (using video) with directional effect for maintaining temporal coherence and controlling coherence direction of texture. For maintaining temporal coherence, we use optical flow and confidence map to adapt for occlusion/disocclusion boundaries. And we control direction of texture for taking structure of input. For expressing various texture effects according to different regions, we calculate gradient based on directional weight. With these techniques, our algorithm can make animation result that maintain temporal coherence and express directional texture effect. It is reflect the characteristics of source and target image well. And our result can express various texture directions automatically.

  • The effect of lubrication on the development of textures and Microstructure was studied by different lubricating condition during hot rolling of AA1050 aluminum alloy. Hot rolling without lubrication led to the evolution of the pronounced through-thickness texture gradients, whereas hot rolling with lubrication gave rise to the formation of uniform rolling texture in the whole thickness layer. The variation of texture and microstructure according to hot rolling condition are investigated by X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and Electron Back-Scattered Diffraction (EBSD). The experimental results were discussed base on the finite element method (FEM) simulation. FEM calculation reveals that a larger friction between roll and sheet causes the deviated strain state from a plane strain leading to the formation of shear textures in the thickness layers close to the surface.

  • This study was performed to improve the quality and extend the shelf life of Yukwa and Salyeotgangjung, traditional Korean cookies, by using fine hot salt instead of oil as the popping medium. Yukwa and Salyeotgangjung were popped with fine salt, and the size, sensory evaluation, color values and textural properties were then compared with those popped in oil. The results showed that the Yukwa base with salt was popped the most at 140C and the rice was popped at 240C. The Yukwa base in salts was smaller in size and larger in density than in oil but the popped rice in salts had a similar size and a smaller density than that popped in oil. In the sensory test, the Yukwa base and popped rice expanded in the salts were preferred to those popped in oil but there was little difference in only popped rice. In terms of color, there was a difference between those popped in salt and in oil. In terms of texture, only popped rice expanded in the salts was harder than in oil, and the Yukwa popped in oil was more cohesive than in the salts. In brittleness, there were no differences between in salt and in oil.

  • Three types of zirconium base alloy were evaluated to study how their work hardening behavior is affected by alloy composition. Repeated-tensile tests (5% elongation at each test) were performed at room temperature at a strain rate of $1.7{\times}10^{-3}s^{-1}$ for the alloys, which were initially controlled for their microstructure and texture. After considering the yield strength and work hardening exponent (n) variations, it was found that the work hardening behavior of the zirconium base alloys was affected more by the Nb content than the Sn content. The facture mode during the repeated tensile test was followed by the slip deformation of the zirconium structure from the texture and microstructural analysis.

  • Image retrieval is one of the most exciting and fastest growing research fields in the area of multimedia technology. As the amount of digital contents continues to grow users are experiencing increasing difficulty in finding specific images in their image libraries. This paper proposes an efficient image descriptor which uses a local color and texture in the non-overlapped block images. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we assessed the retrieval efficiency in terms of ANMRR with common image dataset. The experimental trials revealed that the proposed algorithm exhibited a significant improvement in ANMRR, compared to Dominant Color Descriptor and Edge Histogram Descriptor.

  • In this paper, we demonstrate inter-layer prediction tools for scalable video coders. The proposed scalable coder is designed to support not only spatial, quality and temporal scalabilities, but also view scalability. In addition, we propose quad-tree inter-layer prediction tools to improve coding efficiency at enhancement layers. The proposed inter-layer prediction tools generate texture prediction signal with exploiting texture, syntaxes, and residual information from a reference layer. Furthermore, the tools can be used with inter and intra prediction blocks within a large coding unit. The proposed framework guarantees the rate distortion performance for a base layer because it does not have any compulsion such as constraint intra prediction. According to experiments, the framework supports the spatial scalable functionality with about 18.6%, 18.5% and 25.2% overhead bits against to the single layer coding. The proposed inter-layer prediction tool in multi-loop decoding design framework enables to achieve coding gains of 14.0%, 5.1%, and 12.1% in BD-Bitrate at the enhancement layer, compared to a single layer HEVC for all-intra, low-delay, and random access cases, respectively. For the single-loop decoding design, the proposed quad-tree inter-layer prediction can achieve 14.0%, 3.7%, and 9.8% bit saving.
