  • Modern wind turbines have been mainly erected in region where earthquake are rare or normally weak, especially Korea was thought as safety zone from earthquake. But recently, the earthquake occurs more and more frequently. So, the wind turbine design is required the structural and functional stability under the earthquake. The earthquake can influence normal operation, even if a weak earthquake. There are two ways to review the design under earthquake using Computer Applied Engineering (CAE). One is the Response Spectrum Analysis (RSA) the other is Time History Analysis (THA). In this research, dynamic response on time is obtained under the earthquake by taking into account ground accelerogram consistent with the relevant standards applied to the turbine foundation.

  • The objective of this study is to propose methods of controlling the wake behind a sphere for drag reduction using the suboptimal control theory and surrogate management framework, respectively. The Reynolds numbers considered is 300 at which the base flow is unsteady planar symmetric. Given the cost function defined as the square of the difference between the target pressure (potential-flow pressure) and real flow pressure on the sphere surface, the suboptimal control makes the flow steady axisymmetric and produces drag reduction. Based on the actuation profile from the suboptimal control, the optimal wavy actuation profile is obtained using the surrogate management framework and produces drag reduction.

튜브형 박용 자동역세 연료유 필터 내부의 유동해석 (Flow Analysis of the Tube Type Marine Auto-Backwashing Fuel Oil Filter)

  • In this paper, the characteristics of incompressible flow in a tube type marine fuel oil filter have been investigated. Fluent program has been used to obtain the solutions for the problems of three-dimensional, turbulent fuel oil flow in a filtering system. The inlet flow field is assumed to be uniform. The velocity and pressure distributions were obtained using Darcy's law. The increase of inlet velocity for cleaning fuel oil may cause some problems like vibration of the filter element. It was also required to consider the distribution of cleaning velocity because the worst distribution of cleaning velocity may cause the local insufficient cleaning effect and furthermore the effective filtration area can be reduced. The simulated results show that the computer code can be successfully applied for simulation of the complex base oil flow through the porous media. This paper could be applied to the design of auto-backwashing filtering system as design factor.

지열시스템의 열교환기에서 원 관 내부 반경이 변하는 환형 핀의 최적화 (Optimization of an Annular Fin with Variable Pipe Inside Radius in the Heat Exchanger of Ground Source System)

  • Optimization of a rectangular profile annular fin with variable pipe inside radius is presented. This optimum procedure is based on fixed fin height and is made by using variables separation method. The optimum heat loss, corresponding optimum fin length and optimum fin efficiency are presented as a function of pipe inside radius, fin half height, inside fluid convection characteristic number and ambient convection characteristic number. One of results shows that the optimum fin length increases linearly with increase of pipe inside radius for fixed fin height and fin base radius.

해수 열원 및 폐열 이용 고성능 열펌프 시스템 모사 (Simulation for High Efficient Heat Pump System using Seawater Heat Source and Exhaust Energy)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics (COP) of the heat pump system for various operating conditions with the use of seawater heat source and exhaust energy. To accomplish the goal, first of all, the computer simulation for heat pump system is carried out. The heat pump system model is made of a waste heat recovery system and a vapor compression refrigeration system, and the working fluid is R-22. The model calculated the change of COP with the variation of temperature and flow rate. The COP and the plate heat exchanger (PHE) area of the heat pump system are considered moderately high in the condensation temperature of $25^{\circ}^C$ and the evaporation temperature of $2^{\circ}^C$ in indoor culture system. The simulation results will be used effectively for the design and the performance prediction of heat pump system using unused energy in a land base aquaculture system.

  • The present study has been studied on a thermal and flow characteristic of the microchannel waterblock with pass variations in 8 samples. Results of a numerical analysis using the CFX-11 were compared with results of an experiment. Numerical analysis and experiment were conducted under an input power of 150 W, inlet temperature of $35^{\circ}C$ and mass flow rates of $0.7{\sim}2.0\;kg/min$. The numerical results showed reasonably good agreement with the experimental results within about $3{\sim}5%$. Also, the numerical results showed that the sample 2 types with the 2 pass gave better performance than the sample 1 types with the 1 pass from the viewpoints of heat transfer and pressure drop.

  • In this paper, the unsteady state calculational model is proposed for the thermal stratification analysis in the feedwater line of the PWR plant. By defining dimensionless parameters in the two-dimensional polar coordinate system and applying SIMPLE algorithm, the temperature and flow profiles due to the thermal stratification are obtained. Base on the fact that the most significant condition occurs when the fluid temperature difference between the piping ends reaches as high as 166.deg. C, the present result shows that max. Dimensionless temperature difference of 0.6 (about l00.deg. C) obtained between hot and cold sections of pipe wall at dimensionless time 47.0.

  • The present study is aimed at understanding the flow physics associated with a safety valve applied to LNG ship engines. One-dimensional gasdynamic analyses and axisymmetric, compressible Navier-Stokes computations have been carried out to provide a qualitative and quantitative knowledge base for an effective design of the safety valve. Gasdynamic forces and thrust coefficients are obtained regarding a change in chamber pressure and distance between the nozzle exit and valve sheet which are major parameters to offer a variation in the flow feature. The present results show that the control of the passage area between the nozzle exit and valve sheet can attenuate the strength of shockwave generated in front of the valve sheet, which causes harm to stable system operation.

  • Nowadays, high speed train has settled down as a fast and convenient environment-friendly transportation and it's need is gradually increasing. However increased train speed leads to increased aerodynamic noise, which causes critically affects comfortability of passengers. Especially, the pantograph of high speed train is protruded out of train body, which is the main factor for increased aerodynamic noise. In this research, to reduce aerodynamic noise pantograph, panhead's shape changed to aerodynamical shape. aerodynamic noise of pantograph is predicted by CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) and FW-H (Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings) equation. Also, the sound pressure level of aerodynamic noise of base and modified models are predicted. And the reduction effects of the sound pressure level is analyzed.

  • Optimization of in-cylinder flow is regarded as one of the most important factors to realize stable stratified charge combustion in a Spark-ignited Direct Injection(SDI) engine. Therefore, Computational Fluid Dynamic(CFD) simulation technique were used to clarify the characteristics of in-cylinder flow of a SDI engine with top entry intake port. Also, CFD results were compared to experimental results using Laser Doppler Velocimetry(LDV), Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV) and good validations were met. As the results reverse tumble flow generated during intake process was preserved by configuration of curved piston while base and reverse tumbles were diminished at the end of compression stroke in case of flat top piston. In addition, it will be needed to optimize the fuel mixture distribution based on these results.
