  • Recently bank card number recognition plays an important role in improving payment efficiency. In this paper we propose a new bank-card number identification algorithm. The proposed algorithm consists of three modules which include edge detection, candidate region generation, and recognition. The module of 'edge detection' is used to obtain the possible digital region. The module of 'candidate region generation' has the role to expand the length of the digital region to obtain the candidate card number regions, i.e. to obtain the final bank card number location. And the module of 'recognition' has Convolutional deep learning Neural Network (CNN) to identify the final bank card numbers. Experimental results show that the identification rate of the proposed algorithm is 95% for the card numbers, which shows 20% better than that of conventional algorithm or method.

  • The paper aims to explore the factors affecting potential users of international bank cards in Vietnam. With milestones treaties being signed CPTPP and EVFTA, Vietnam is now exposing itself to the international open environment. Bank card market is at the core of this wind of change, and that is the reason for us to research the intention to use international bank cards. Given that the decision to choose international bank cards could either be the switch from domestic cards or adopting a brand new card, we develop some specific constructs to reflect that consideration, specifically PE and PD, asides from traditional constructs used in TPB and TAM frameworks. The analysis work is conducted using PLS-SEM approach. Our findings reveals that most of our proposed hypotheses are supported, in which SN plays the most important direct role to INT, while total effect of PU on INT is similar to that of SN. The newly introduced PD negatively and significantly impacts INT, and PE also has a positive impact on INT. The findings suggest that overall, it is important for bank card issuers to have a balance approach to the market, with focus on increasing usefulness and reducing potential disadvantages of international bank cards.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand credit card uses and debt burden of the multiple credit card holders. Data were obtained from 428 housewives living in Seoul. OLS regression analysis was used for examining factors affecting credit card uses and debt burden for the multiple credit card holders. The findings could be summarized as follows. First, among the three types of credit cards-bank card, retail card, and professional card, the multiple credit card holders tended to have more bank cards than retail and professional cards. Second, holding of the professional card was positively associated with both the frequency and the amount of credit card use per month. Third, the household income, age, employment status, and motive were important factors in predicting their attitudes toward credit card. • Among the various services for mobile banking, user authentication method using bank security card is still very useful. We can use mobile banking easily and safely in case of saving encoded security codes in smart phone and entering codes automatically whenever user authentication is required without bank security card. In this paper automatic recognition algorithm of security codes of bank security card is proposed in oder to enroll the encoded security codes into smart phone using smart phone camera. Advanced adaptive binarization is used for extracting digit segments from various background image pattern and adaptive 2-dimensional layout analysis method is developed for segmentation and recognition of damaged or touched digits. Experimental results of proposed algorithm using Android and iPhone, show excellent security code recognition results.

  • Purpose: The study is focused on understanding consumer behaviour related to credit card use in retail payment or identifying factors that influence risk perception. Research design, data and methodology: Based on data collecting from structured self-administered questionnaires of 247 Vietnamese bank account payers, this study uses the Cronbach alpha analysis, the factor analyses, the structural equation modeling to assess the research's measurement model and structural model with the presence of knowledge, propensity to trust, self-efficacy, risk perception, intended use and their complex, intertwined relationships. Results: The results reveal that customer's perceived risk, which is affected by their self-efficacy and propensity to trust, negatively impact on their intended use of credit cards in retail payment. However, there is no evidence of the significant influence of consumer knowledge on how they assess potential losses of credit card. Conclusions: These findings provide a better understanding of consumer risk perception, its antecedents and consequence in a direction of credit card adoption. Bank managers or marketers should focus on increasing the information about credit cards and issues related to credit card use in retail payment, promoting mechanisms to encourage customers to participate in the credit card experience.
