As SSDs are increasingly being used as high-performance storage or caches, attention is increasingly paid to the provision of SSDs with Quality-of-Service for I/O request streams of various applications in server systems. Since most SSDs are using the AHCI controller interface on a SATA bus, it is not possible to provide a differentiated service by distinguishing each I/O stream from others within the SSD. However, since a new SSD interface, the NVME controller interface on a PCI Express bus, has been proposed, it is now possible to recognize each I/O stream and schedule I/O requests within the SSD for differentiated services. This paper proposes Flash Operation Group Scheduling within NVME-based flash storage devices, and demonstrates through QEMU-based simulation that we can achieve a proportional bandwidth share for each I/O stream.

WLAN (Wireless Local Area Networks) needs error recovery and flow control schemes to support reliable multicast protocol. Limited wireless bandwidth, as well as queuing losses caused by the asymmetric wired/wireless interactions, demands more effective approaches for reducing packet losses. Moreover, since the wireless channel is a shared broadcast medium, if sender receives feedback information simultaneously from several receivers, the feedback delays data frame transmission of forward direction by introducing channel congestion and burden at the sender. Therefore, it is important to minimize the amount of feedback information from receivers. In this paper, we propose an ARS(Adaptive Redundancy Scheme) that combines FEC(Forward Error Correction) using channel state estimation and ARQ(Automatic Repeat Request) both to reduce the amount of feedback information and the number of retransmissions and to guarantee high data reliability in a WLAN multicast environment. Performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by means of analysis and simulations in AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels. The results show that the proposed scheme reduces the amount of feedback information and the number of retransmissions and guarantees high data reliability, while keeping throughput efficiency similarly with the conventional FEC and ARQ scheme.

In the Internet, as computer resource is developed, multimedia data request being increase more and more. It is effective way that process both high capacity-data and real-time data. Overlay Multicast is an effective method for efficient utilization of system resources and network bandwidth without using hardware customization. Overlay Multicast is an effective method for multimedia data service to multi-users. Multicast tree reconstruction is required when a non-leaf host leaves or fails. In this paper, relay-frame interval is selected as revealed network-state with jitter. In our proposal, multi-user service control algorithm gives a delay effect in multimedia request time. The simulation results show that our proposal takes shorter period of time than the other algorithms to reconstruct a similar tree and that it is a more effective way to deal with a lot of nodes that have lost their multi-user nodes.

Nowadays, it is more difficult to find people who do not use mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Contents that can be accessed at the touch of a finger is overflowing. However, the existing network has a structure in which it is difficult to efficiently respond to the problems caused by overflowing contents. In particular, the bottleneck problem that occurs when multiple users intensively request content from the server at the same time is a representative problem. To solve this problem, the CCN has emerged as an alternative to future networks. CCN uses the network bandwidth efficiently through the In-Network Cache function of the intermediate node to improve the traffic required for user to request to reach the server, to reduce response time, and to distribute traffic concentration within the network. I propose a cache policy that can improve efficiency in such a CCN environment.
This paper discusses a testbed architecture for implementing scalable service differentiation in the Internet. The differentiated services (DiffServ) testbed architecture is based on a model in which a bandwidth broker (BB) can control network resources, and the ALTQ can reserve resources in a router to guarantee a Quality of Service (QoS) for incoming traffic to the testbed. The reservation and releasemessage for the ALTQ is contingent upon a decision message in the BE. The BB has all the information in advance, which is required for a decision message, in the form of PIB. A signaling protocol between the BB and the routers is the COPS protocol proposed at the IETF. In terms of service differentiation, a user should make an SLA in advance, and reserve required bandwidth through an RAR procedure. The SLA and RAR message between a user and the BB has implemented with the COPS extension which was used between a router and the BB. We evaluates the service differentiation for the video streaming in that the EF class traffic shows superb performance than the BE class traffic where is a network congestion. We also present the differentiated service showing a better packet receiving rate, low packet loss, and low delay for the EF class video service.
The quality of stream remaking is decided the load of a server and Jitter through the traffic of the transmission path between end to end. In order to improve these problems in this paper, I propose tree construction method of low-delay-level-multicast. In this case which the network congestion will be occurred by streaming quality, I also propose the technique which dynamically changes the transmission path. This technique first constructs the overlay structure for relaxing the overload of server. Secondly, in order to decrease Jitter of client, it makes upload bandwidth and low latency balanced. In the evaluation of the performance, this paper showed better enhancement of about $15%{\sim}24%$ than P2CAST[4] in the simulation about node average join count, average bandwidth, service request refusal ratio, RTT measurement of nodes, and node average join count by defect ratio.
The dedicated line linked up with the internet maintains generally the efficiency of network by using Best Effort Model. But it is the problem that we allocate the higher bandwidth to services which request high bandwidth regardless of service types or purposes. To overcome this weak point, we use the Session QoS System which distinguish between business services such as E-mail, Web, etc. and non-business services. But, a recent session QoS system is not adequate to the environment similar to university, because that has many users who have various requests. In this paper, to satisfy various requirements of many user's in session QoS system which support services of research, education, business, etc., we analyze types of service in the environment of education and research network and propose a necessity of management strategies of session Qos system.
HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) Adaptive Streaming is gaining attention because it changes bitrates to adapt changing network conditions. Since HAS (HTTP Adaptive Streaming) client downloads the video data based on TCP (Transmission Control Protocol), it estimates incorrectly the available bandwidth and leads to an unnecessary video quality change in long-delay networks. In this paper, we propose a buffer-based quality control scheme in order to improve the service quality and smooth playback in the HAS. The proposed scheme estimates accurately the available bandwidth based on a modified streaming model that considers network delay. It also calculates the sustainability of the video quality to prevent an unnecessary quality change and determines the inter-request time on the basis of the buffer status. Through the simulation, we prove that our scheme improves the QoS (Quality of Service) of the HAS service and controls the video quality smoothly in long-delay networks.
This paper proposes and analyzes an error control scheme which tries to recover the transmission error within the deadline of a message on FDDI networks. The error control procedure does not interfere other normal message transmissions by delivering retransmission request via asynchronous traffic as well as by delivering retarnsmitted message via overallocated bandwidth which is inevitably produced by the bandwidth allocation scheme for hard real-time guarantee. The receiver counts the number of tokens which it meets, determines the completion of message transmission, and finally sends error report. The analysis results along with simulation performed via SMPL show that the proposed scheme is able to enhance the deadline meet ratio of messages by overcoming the network errors. Using the proposed error control scheme, the hard real-time network can be built at cost lower than, but performacne comparable to the dual link network.

Earlier efforts on optical access concentrated on the design of PONs for the collection and distribution portion of the access network. In these networks the optical hardware in the RN is very simple, but a multiple access protocol is needed for upstream traffic control. On the other hand, the role of communications is already well established in the office environment. With the advent of cheap, affordable broadband communications and the increasing complexity of consumer electronics, it seems natural to extend the network into the home. As the application of Home Area Network is ever increasing, we therefore consider connectivity between access network and home network which generates various traffic to design MAC protocol over residential network. Global-FIFO is quite simple and allows dynamic upstream bandwidth assignment on the basis of a request-and-permit mechanism. It has good bandwidth efficiency and being cell-based, it does not consider the various traffic from home network. In this paper, we design and analyze the new MAC resource assignment algorithm called MQ-FIFO (Multiple Queue-FIFO) that provides good performance under the environment of ATM-PON and Home Network.
