  • This paper described the miniaturization of microstrip bandpss filter in UHF using S-plane Prototype. Modern microwave receiver system requires smaller size and better filter performance. The design of filters using bandpass S-plane prototype is made to satisfy these requirements. Bandpass S-plane prototypes are made by exact-synthesis technique using transmission zero locations at wanted frequency bandwidth, and the calculation of prototype values was performed by computer.

  • Many mobile communication systems require bandpass filter with sharp skirt characteristics and consequently a filter was formed by more order. It needs to improve flatness in passband. In this paper, amplitude equalizer was used to improve the flatness of passband. We modified Chebyshev prototype filter by use of network synthesis and computed the prototype elements for Shaping filter. We designed and realized a 13-order combline bandpass filter and 4-order amplitude equalizer with coaxial dielectric resonators at WiBro band. The measured results show $\pm$0.82 dB amplitude difference in passband, 6 dB improved flatness.

  • In this paper, we designed amplitude equalizer which is composed of amplifier, complementary shaping filter and attenuator in order to improve flatness of high order bandpass filter. We modified Chebyshev polynomial and calculated the prototype elements for complementary shaping filters by network synthesis. The amplitude equalizer is realized that it connects the 4th order complementary shaping filter designed by using calculated the prototype elements to the amplifier compensating for insertion loss and improving return loss, and with the attenuator for gain control. Using proposed amplitude equalizer, We certificated improvement in flatness of 13th order bandpass filter at WiBro band.

  • A new compact UWB bandpass filter with sharp-rejection and low insertion-loss is designed in this paper, using the parallel transmission line with SIR structure. An Example filter is firstly theoretically designed by the proposed synthesis procedure, the optimized by EM simulator, fabricated in microstrip line and finally characterized by a network analyzer. A good agreement between the simulation results and prototype validates the proposed UWB bandpass filter. The designed filter also realized a sharp rejection of higher order with a relatively small size which is proper for the UWB communication system.

  • In this paper, A duplexer module with temperature-insensitive electrical characteristics was proposed for remote wireless communication system. Duplexer modules are required to have performances of low insertion loss, high isolation between transmitted band and received band, harmonic suppression as well as high power durability in the system for transmitting guided information to missile flying a free space on the ground. The proposed duplexer module are consist of transmission bandpass filter and receiving bandpass filter which are connected to common antenna port, planar coupler for output power monitoring and low pass filter for harmonic attenuation of power amplifier and coaxial cavity resonator. The material and dimensions of the resonator are determined for minimum frequency shift by temperature variation using 3D EM simulation. The measured results of the prototype showed a good agreement with the simulation results, and it should be well applied not only for guided weapon systems but also for any other communication systems such as remote radio head.

  • In order to acquire clear images capable of diagnosing cracked tooth by light transmission, the optical properties of LED light source were examined. Based on the results, the prototype which basically consisted of LED light source, bandpass filter and commercial compact camera module was designed and manufactured. The wavelength and optical power of the LED in the prototype were 850 nm and 7 mW/Sr, respectively. In evaluation of the prototype using microscope, the observation of the crack with width of above $17{\mu}m$ was possible. In addition, image analysis to obtain shape information on the observed tooth cracks was carried out.

  • Dielectric resonator bandpass filters with various time-delay at 800MHz were designed and fabricated in this paper. from the results of this study. first of all, good response. characteristics were measured for all cases. The insertion loss was below 2dB and flatness for ripple was below 0.2dB, whereas return loss was over 20dB, respectively. The measured delay time of the fabricated prototype were 6ns, 12ns and 200s, respectively and the flatness characteristics did not exceeding Ins for all cases. Furthermore, 2~4ns of flatness were measured for 2-hole dielectric block and other dielectric resonator filters with various delay time by combination of each prototypes filters were also implemented.

  • This paper presents the design method of an impedance matching network using an isolation transformer and the Chebyshev filter function for the high efficiency and the flat power driving of an underwater acoustic piezoelectric transducer. The proposed impedance matching network is designed for minimizing the reactance component of transducer and having the flat power response in the wide frequency range. We design a low pass filter with ladder-type circuit using the Chebyshev function as standard prototype filter function. In addition, we design the impedance matching network which is suitable for the equivalent circuit of transducer and the turn ratio of transformer through the bandpass frequency transformation. The proposed method is applied to the simulated dummy load of the tonpilz-type transducer operating in the middle frequency range. The simulation results are compared with the measured characteristics and the validity of the proposed method is verified.

An Operating Software Development of A Prototype Coronagraph for The Total Solar Eclipse in 2017

  • We develop a coronagraph to measure the coronal electron density, temperature, and speed by observing the linearly polarized brightness of solar corona with 4 different wavelengths. Through the total solar eclipse on 21 August 2017, we test an operating software of a prototype coronagraph working with two sub-systems of two motorized filter wheels and a CCD camera that are controlled by a portable embedded computer. A Core Flight System (CFS) is a reusable software framework and set of reusable software applications which take advantage of a rich heritage of successful space mission of NASA. We use the CFS software framework to develop the operating software that can control the two sub-systems asynchronously in an observation scenario and communicate with a remote computer about commands, housekeeping data through Ethernet. The software works successfully and obtains about 160 images of 12 filter sets (4 bandpass filters and 3 polarization angles) during the total phase of the total solar eclipse. For the future, we can improve the software reliability by testing the software with a sufficient number of test cases using a testing framework COSMOS. The software will be integrated into the coronagraph for balloon-borne experiments in 2019.
