  • Previously, 13 species in six genera of the subfamily Banchinae and 29 speices in 16 genera of the subfamily Pimplinae were known from Korea. In this paper, two species, Rynchobanchus minomensis (Uchida, 1933) and Theronia laevigata nigra Uchida, 1928 are new to Korea. Also, the genus Rynchobanchus is recorded for the first time in Korea. Only one species of Theronia, Theronia atalantae (Poda, 1761), was recorded from Korea by Uchida (1928). New Korean names proposed for these two species are "Eol-gul-ga-si-maep-si-beol" and "Geom-jeong-nap-jak-maep-si-beol" for the R. minomensis and T. laevigata nigra, respectively. A key to the species of Theronia, diagnosis and photographs of diagnostic characters of them are provided.

  • One of the largest genera of subfamily Banchinae, the genus Glypta has been reported 505 species in the World. In this study, the genus Glypta is reported for the first time from South Korea. Twelve species are recognized, one of which is described as new: Glypta clypeorostrata sp. nov. We diagnose 11 newly recorded species(G. biauriculata, G. breviterebra, G. densepunctata, G. extincta, G. fronticornis, G. incisa, G. media, G. nigrina, G. talitzkii, G. tamanukii, and G. touyaensis) and provide a key along with digital images of 12 South Korean species.

  • One of the small genera of the tribe Atrophini (subfamily Banchinae), the genus Amphirhachis, has been reported seven species in the world. Among them, four species (Amphirhachis fasciata, A. nigripalpis, A. rubriventris and A. tertia) from Oriental region, and four species(Amphirhachis fujiei, A. miyabi, A. nigra and A. tertia) from Eastern Palaearctic region. Unfortunately, there are no records in South Korea yet. This genus is easily distinguished from other genera of Atrophini following: clypeus strongly convex near side; posterior transverse carina of propodeum represented by a weak or faint vertical ridge at apex on each side; ovipositor sheath shorter than metasoma. In this study, the genus Amphirhachis is recorded for the first time with a newly recorded species (Amphirhachis tertia) from South Korea. New data on the taxonomy and distribution of Amphirhachis tertia are given. We also provide diagnosis and digital images of a newly recorded genus and species.

Review of the genus Apophua (Hymenoptera:Ichneumonidae: Banchinae:Glyptini) from South Korea (한국산 쌍점박이납작맵시벌속 (벌목, 맵시벌과, 가시뭉툭맵시벌아과, 배고랑뭉툭맵시벌족)에 관한 고찰)

  • Previously, only one species belonging to the genus Apophua was recorded from South Korea by Kim (1955). Here, six additional species, A. cicatricosa, A. evanescens, A. honmai, A. stena, A. sugaharai and A. tobensis, are reported for the first time in South Korea. In this paper, we provide a key to the Eastern Palaearctic species of Apophua and diagnoses, as well as photographs of South Korean species.

  • A taxonomic study was carried out to discover unrecorded species of South Korean Exetastes of which six taxa were previously known. In the present study, another six taxa were newly recognized from the country: E. adpressorius, E. allopus, E. fukuchiyamanus, E. illyricus, E. sapponensis and E. tomentosus. With the result of this study, 11 species and one subspecies in Exetastes are in total known from South Korea. In addition, a key to the South Korean species and the diagnoses and digital images of the six newly recorded species are provided.
