죽세품 공예디자인 발전을 위한 시장조사 및 실험연구 (A Market and Experimental Research on the Advancement of Bamboo Folkcraft Product Design)

  • 본 논문은 전통문화의 현대화, 대중화 차원에서 담양지역의 죽세공예 및 죽세산업에 대해서 소비자 및 생산업체를 대상으로 설문조사 하였으며, 특정 죽세품인 대발을 가지고 다양한 소재, 기법, 디자인을 적용하여 샘플실험 및 작품을 제작하였다. 소비자 대상의 설문조사는 새로운 디자인 개발에 의한 다양한 용도의 제품개발에 대한 매우 높은 선호도 및 구매의사를 보여 향후 신제품 개발 및 디자인 개선의 필요성을 시사하고 있다. 생산업체 또한 새로운 디자인 적용에 의한 신제품개발에 관심이 높으며 전문기관의 디자인 지원을 가장 바라고있었다. 대발개발을 위한 실험조사 결과는 새로운 섬유재료, 천연염색, 현대적 디자인의 조합을 통해 오늘날의 소비자에 소구할 수 있는 제품개발 가능성을 발견하였다. 본 연구는 전통문화의 재창조를 위한 하나의 좋은 사례가 될 것으로 생각되며, 전문기관과 생산업체 간의 산학협동을 통해 전통문화의 제품화·상용화를 기할 수 있다는 점을 제안했다.

남태 칠 기법을 이용한 목 가구 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Wooden Furniture Adopting Lamtae Lacquer Technique)

  • Wooden artifacts are generally manufactured by lacal materials with cultural characteristics. Bamboo crafts province In recent years, production decreased due to products using resin and new materials, and in particularm the traditional bamboo craftsmanship is in a situation of extinction. Among the techniques of bamboo craftsmanship, Lamtae lacquer technique which lacquers on bamboo crafts made of piece bamboo and weaving pattern is applied to wooden craft, and the purpose of this study was to develop the products that can be utilzed in the modern residential space, and to make the skill of wood crafts using bamboo be developed and spread the prototype was made of traditional bamboo acts and crafts, furniture made of piece bamboo and weaving pattern, and wooden artifacts such as stationary goods and lighting.

담양 죽제품 연구 (A Study on Bamboo Products in Damyang)

  • This paper or article is about bamboo products from Damyang that have been degenerated by the threat of Chinese low-cost products. Comparing the products from Damyang and China, we could point out four problems and come up with solutions. Firstly, we need strong and specific storytelling based on historical facts and various research to boost the bamboo industry. In order to introduce interesting storytelling to the public, it is also necessary to train some good-quality workers. The public would be more familiar with the bamboo products from Damyang than Chinese products. Secondly, technologies used for bamboo products from Damyang are extremely behind the times. Skill shortages for bamboo products caused to create unattractive products to the public for approximately 30 years. Thus, we need to acquire advanced technologies from abroad as well as to develop our own. Thirdly, Even though attractive bamboo products would be produced with advanced technologies, workers in bamboo industry lack knowledge of distribution channels and marketing strategy so that there is no way to introduce their products effectively to the consumers. Therefore, government agencies or marketers should educate workers to help running their business successfully. Finally, bamboo products have been fashion and living items for some specific consumers for the last years. However, we need to create variously new types of bamboo products through the collaboration with a wide range of artists to be widely appealing. In conclusion, it is important to be aware of the problems and solutions above. The 17th Bamboo Expo in Damyang will be a great opportunity to introduce Korean bamboo products in worldwide and develop the bamboo industry.

Introduction of Wooden Kagome Structure to the Furniture Design

  • This study is carried out to introduce the concept of Kagome structure as the new trial for the furniture design and the feasibility of its utilization in furniture industry. Kagome means originally the two dimensional bamboo-basket woven pattern that is composed of interlaced triangles whose lattice points each have four neighboring points, which was used in traditional bamboo craft design like 'Jukbuin(bamboo-wife)'. Its unique truss structure has been widely used by many kinds of the domain of science and engineering in mechanical and architectural industry with some merits, i,e, material utilization efficiency and robust strength. Here we tried to introduce two dimensional and three dimensional form of Kagome which are supposed to be a furniture design elements. Authors think these Kagome design could be realized with domestic lumber of inferior properties. Both of them would be used as a decorative element or mechanical supporter in furniture design.

근대시기 영산강 유역(담양군과 화순군) 면직물 생산 문화의 특징 - 섬진강 유역의 구례군과의 비교를 중심으로 - (The characteristics of cotton production of Damyang-gun & Hwasun-gun, Yeongsan River, in modern times - Focused on the comparison of Gurye-gun, Seomjingang River -)

  • This study investigated the characteristics of cotton production of Damyang-gun & Hwasun-gun, Yeongsan River compared with that of Gurye-gun, Seomjingang River in modern times. To do this, research method was both literature and fieldwork research, results were as follows. First, as for cotton fiber cultivation in Damyang-gun & Hwasun-gun, Chinese cotton (在來綿) has been cultivated during Japanese Colonial era unlike Gurye-gun. Especially, Yellow cotton (黃綿) has been cultivated in Hwasungun. Second, as for spinning in Damyang-gun, Hwasun-gun and Gurye-gun, some of cotton spinning process have been gradually changed to mechanization by market shop equipped with mechanized cotton gin and cotton whipping tool since Japanese colonial era. Third, the loom types also, like spinning tools, have been changed from the traditional Korean back-strap loom to the treadle loom in Damyang-gun, Hwasungun and Gurye-gun. Chemical dyeing with chemical dyestuff also has been done since Japanese Colonial era. Fourth, since the 1970s, the outputs of cotton production have been reduced in both Damyang-gun & Hwasun-gun. For Damyang-gun, this has been connected with bamboo craft since the Joseon Dynasty period. So, Damyang-gun has more concentrated on bamboo craft than cotton production. For Hwasun-gun, since Japanese Colonial era, sericulture has been very important. So, Hwasun-gun also has more concentrated on sericulture than cotton production. The main reason to discontinue cotton production in Damyang-gun, Hwasun-gun and Gurye-gun was related to the local choice like economic added value.

  • Traditional Korean paper called Hanji using bast fibers from mulberry tree is made through complicated handmade works. This made Hanji very strong and exceedingly durable. Therefore it is said to last a thousand years. Such incomparable features of Hanji come from the unique sheet forming method called ouibalttugi using a bamboo screen. Excellent physical properties of Hanji reflect the wide variety of use, all central to everyday life. Despite its Excellency, the papermaking practice of traditional handmade paper, Hanji, from Korea is little known outside its country. This might be due to public apathy on Hanji in modern times. Without future apprentices dedicated to the craft, the Korean tradition able to make its soul is in danger of extinction in its homeland. Therefore more concern and more affection on Hanji is required immediately. It must be kept in mind that Hanji is our cultural heritage in pride over time.

국내 주거생활에 나타나는 라탄(Rattan)가구 활용사례 연구 (A study on the examples of rattan furniture's applications in Korean residence)

  • Rattan furniture is strips of cane around the frame that consists of wisteria, bamboo and wood. The materials are originally from Southeast Asia, and the material of domestic Rattan goods is Korean wisteria. Rattan, which is strong and elastic, is often used for craft materials, and it also retains the original feel of the material with great touch. It is beautiful and suitable for expressing curves. It is shiny, light in weight, easy for cleaning and ventilation. Rattan furniture is unique product made by human hands and nature and is an environment friendly well-being furniture. The use examples of these domestic rattan furnitures is condensed as below. First, the materials of rattan product is wisteria, rice straw, bush clover wood, reed and bamboo. Second, the use of rattan product which is made of domestic wisteria is limited to farming equipments and living wares. Third, the materials of rattan furniture differs in domestic made and foreign made product. As is the characteristics of timbers growing in warmer climates of Korea, it has many twist and strong and it is not straight in length so it is hard to manufacture into and use as furniture also it is hard to acquire right size for the material.

한국산(韓國産)의 죽류(竹類)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)(제(第)10보(報)) - Phyllostachys reticulata의 굴곡시험(屈曲侍險)에 대(對)하여 - (Research on the Bamboo in Korea(Part 10) - On the Bending Test of Phyllostachys reticulata)

  • 죽류(竹類)는 원래(原來) 죽간(竹幹)이 곧게 자라는 식물(植物)이므로 현재(現在)까지는 이와같이 곧게 자라는 성질(性質)을 이용(利用)하여 다각도(多角度)로 사용(使用)하여 왔으나 근일(近日) 죽공예품제작(竹工藝品製作)의 추세(趨勢)는 굴곡(屈曲)된 죽간(竹幹)의 필요성(必要性)이 증가(增加)됨에 따라 저자(著者)는 한국(韓國) 산죽류(産竹類)의 굴곡생장(屈曲生長)에 관(關)한 시험(試驗)을 행(行)하고저 강원도(江原道) 명주군(溟州郡)부터 옥준면(玉浚面) 현내리(縣內里)의 시험림(試驗林)에서 1960년(年) 시험(試驗)을 시행(施行)하였다. 죽순(竹筍)이 40여일(餘日) 간(間)에 완전성장(完全成長)하는 비밀(秘密)이 주(主)로 지하경(地下莖)에 있다고 하나 죽순(竹筍)의 죽피(竹皮)에도 그 요인(要因)이 있을 것이라고 생각(生覺)하고 죽피(竹皮)의 탈피(脫皮)와 죽(竹)의 굴곡(屈曲)에 대(對)한 시험(試驗)을 다음과 같이 행(行)하였다. 1. 탈피(脫皮)의 시기(時期) 2. 임의순곡(任意筍曲)을 위(爲)한 죽피(竹皮)의 탈피방향(脫皮方向) 3. 죽순(竹筍)의 크기(생장(生長))에 따르는 굴곡(屈曲)의 정확성(正確性) 이상(以上)과 같은 시험(試驗)으로 다음과 같은 결과(結果)를 얻었다. 1. 본시험지(本試驗地)에서는 죽순(竹筍)의 발순(發筍)이 대개(大槪) 4월경(月頃)부터 시작(始作)되나 시간별(時期別)로의 굴곡(屈曲)의 난역(難易)을 관찰(觀察)한 결과(結果)는 이 굴곡(屈曲)의 효율(效率)이 68%로서 가장 좋은 성적(成積)을 나타 냈다. 2. 출도(出度)를 임의(任意)로 하고져 할 때에는 구부리고져 하는 방향(方向)의 죽피(竹皮)를 탈피(脫皮)하면 그 방향(方向)으로 구부러지며 90도(度)의 각도(角度)까지 굴곡(屈曲)될 수 있음을 알았다. 단(但) 돌레 전체(全體)를 베끼면 자유형(自由形)으로 구부러 진다. 3. 어느 정도(程度) 생장(生長) 죽순(竹筍)이 굴곡도(屈曲度)가 정확(正確)한가를 알기 위(爲)하여 30cm부터 10cm의 간격(間隔)을 두고 150cm까지의 길이에 대(對)하여 죽순(竹筍)을 탈피시험(脫皮試驗)해 본 결과(結果) 110cm 크기의 것이 90%로서 좋은 성적(成積)을 나타내고 있음을 알수 있었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 담양 죽제품과 여주 도자기 산지를 사례로 재래공업 존립의 중요한 요소인 산지내 사회적 분업의 실태, 특성 그리고 의의를 밝히고자 하였다. 산지내 사회적 분 업은 주로 원자재조달과 제품생산, 제품생산과 제품판매간에 이루어지고 있으며, 생산공정상 의 사회적 분업 및 제품생산 부문과 그 관련시설, 기계제작 부문간의 사회전 분업은 부분적 으로 이루어지고 있다. 그 성격에 있어서는 담양 죽제품산지는 산지완결형의 그리고 여주 도자기 산지는 미산지완결형의 특성이 강하다. 그리고 사회적 분업체계를 구성하는 기업들 은 독자성을 가진 수평적 분업체계를 유지하고 있으나 수요변화에 적극적으로 대응하기 위 한 신제품의 개발과 판로개척을 선도할 수 있는 기업이 밭달하지 못하고 있다. 산지존립에 있어서의 사회적 분업의 의의로는 생산공정의 세분화와 업종분화를 통해서 노동력 부족을 극복함과 동시에 생산비를 절감할 수 있고 소자본의 신규참여를 용이하게 하고 경기변동에 따른 위험부담을 분산하며 다방면에 걸친 축적된 노-하우를 활용한 업종과 제품의 전환을 통하여 제품의 다양화와 제품수명주기가 연장된다는 점을 들 수 있다.
