Tracking control schemes on the precise mechanical system in presence of nonlinear dynamic friction is proposed. A nonlinear dynamic friction is regarded as the bristle friction model to compensate fer effects of friction. The conventional SMC method often shows poor tracking performance in high-precision position tracking application since it cannot completely compensate for the friction effect below a certain precision level. Thus to improve the precise position tracking performance, we propose the SMC method combined with the disturbance observer having tunable transient performance. Then this control scheme has the high precise tracking peformance as well as a good transient response when it is compared with the conventional SMC method and the similar types of observers, The experiment on the XY ball-screw drive system with the nonlinear dynamic friction confirms the feasibility of the proposed control scheme.
The ram assembly is important equipment in fueling machine of PHWR(Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor) plant where fuel replacement is possible while the plant is in service. Troubles in the ram assembly can cause lots of difficulties in power plant operation. The ram assembly is typically composed of the B-ram, the L-Ram and the C-Ram. The B-ram is focused in this paper because it plays the most important role in the ram assembly. Among the ram fault phenomena, ram stuck phenomena are the most frequent cases in the B-ram, which has a ball screw mechanism driven by a hydraulic motor. Ram stuck phenomena are due to ball wear and damage in ball nut that increase in proportion to the number of fuel replacement. It is required to predict ram stuck phenomena before they occur. In this paper, a method is proposed for predicting ram stuck phenomena using a discrete wavelet transform. The discrete wavelet transform provides information on both the time and frequency characteristics of the input signals. The proposed method uses the frequency bandwidths of coefficients of discrete wavelet decompositions and detail coefficients of discrete wavelet transform to predict ram stuck phenomena. The signal used in this paper is a torque-related signal such as a hydraulic service outlet pressure signal in a hydraulic driving system or a current signal in a DC motor driving system. Finally, the validity of the proposed method is shown via experiment using ball nut characteristic test equipment that simulates ram stuck phenomena due to increased ball friction in ball nut.
It can be acquired the high effective productivity through of high speed, precision of machine tools, and then, machine tools will be got a competitive power. Industrially advanced countries already developed that the high speed feed is 50m/min using the high speed ball screw. Also, a lot of problems have happened the feed and servo drive system. It is necessary to study about the character of positioning accuracy, heat generation and high speed/accuracy control for feed/servo drive system of high speed/accuracy. In this study, we make use of high performance vertical machine center with a ball screw of large-scale-lead. Also, we'll apply the high-speed/accuracy control technology in this part of feedforward control, multi-buffering block size, etc. Using the design of the mechanical element and high-speed precision control, the basic design concept can be established.
Effect of coulomb friction and backlash on the single loop posit ion control has been studied for the precision position control. We studied and showed the limit cycle on the single loop system which used a ball screw that had the backlash. Also, We made an inner loop with a classical velocity and torque controller which was forcing the $i_d$ current to be zero by using a permanent-magnet synchronous motor and composed the outer loop with linear sensor for sensing a position of the loader. We have been shown a good result by using the dual loop through numerical simulation method.
Contents 1We developed a new type of lower part of the human-sized BWR (biped walking robot) driven by a new actuator based on the ball screw which has high strength and high gear ratio. Each leg of the robot is composed of three pitch Joints and one roll joint. In all, a 8 degree-of-freedom robot was developed. A new type of actuator for the robot is proposed, which is composed of four bar link mechanism driven by the ball screw. The BWR was designed to walk autonomously by adapting small DC motors for the robot actuators and has an embeded controller system including host computer, batteries and motor drivers. In the performance test, we had basic stable walking data so far, but we f...
Coulomb friction is an important factor for precise position tracking control systems. The control systems with friction causes the steady state error because of being sensitive to the change of system condition and highly nonlinear characteristics. To overcome these problems, we use an estimation scheme of Coulomb friction to experiment for it's compensating. The estimated factor for Coulomb friction is used as a feed-forward compensator to improve the tracking performance of ball-screw systems. The tracking performance was improved by compensating the estimated friction torque in the feed-forward term. And, the sliding mode control which is derived from the Lyapunov stability theorem is applied for robust stability and reducing chattering. The experimental results show that the sliding mode controller with adaptive friction compensator has a good tracking performance compared with the friction uncompensated controller.
In this paper, the position tracking control problem of the servo system with nonlinear dynamic friction is issued. The nonlinear dynamic friction contains a directly immeasurable friction state variable and the uncertainty caused by incomplete parameter modeling and its variations. In order to provide the efficient solution to these control problems, we propose the composite control scheme, which consists of the robust friction state observer, the FNN approximator and the approximation error estimator with sliding mode control. In first, the sliding mode controller and the robust friction state observer is designed to estimate the unknown internal state of the LuGre friction model. Next, the FNN estimator is adopted to approximate the unknown lumped friction uncertainty. Finally, the adaptive approximation error estimator is designed to compensate the approximation error of the FNN estimator. Some simulations and experiments on the servo system assembled with ball-screw and DC servo motor are presented. Results show the remarkable performance of the proposed control scheme. The robust friction state observer can successfully identify immeasurable friction state and the FNN estimator and adaptive approximation error estimator give the robustness to the proposed control scheme against the uncertainty of the friction parameters.
It is one of the important causes that the precision of the thread grinder decide the machining errors of the ball screw. The approach described in this study demonstrates how the dominant causes of the inaccuracies in thread grinding system can be determined. To evaluate the machining error of thread grinder, rotary encoder is allocated to spindle shaft and master screw for measuring the rotational transfer error between spindle shaft and master screw and the laser measuring system is used for checking the movement error.
In this paper, the electromagnetic damper (EMD), which is composed of a permanent-magnet rotary DC motor, a ball screw and a nut, is considered to be analyzed as a semi-active damper. The main objective pursued in the paper is to study the two degrees of freedom (DOF) model of the semi-active electromagnetic suspension system (SAEMSS) performance and energy regeneration controlled by on-off and continuous damping control strategies. The nonlinear equations of the SAEMSS must therefore be extracted. The effects of the EMD characteristics on ride comfort, handling performance and road holding for the passive electromagnetic suspension system (PEMSS) are first analyzed and damping control strategies effects on the SAEMSS performance and energy regeneration are investigated next. The results obtained from the simulation show that the SAEMSS provides better performance and more energy regeneration than the PEMSS. Moreover, the results reveal that the on-off hybrid control strategy leads to better performance in comparison with the continuous skyhook control strategy, however, the energy regeneration of the continuous skyhook control strategy is more than that of the on-off hybrid control strategy (except for on-off skyhook control strategy).
