  • This paper investigates the effectiveness of flight operation between airplane maintenance engineers and pilots who work together. The developed model is to identify the relationship between the attitudes of airplane maintenance engineers and pilots and the effectiveness of flight operation. The results indicate that the shared values and balanced power between airplane maintenance engineers and pilots are positively related with trust and job satisfaction, but conflict is negatively related. Further, trust and job satisfaction positively affect the effectiveness of flight operation. These findings suggest that the improvements of the relationships between airplane maintenance engineers and pilots need more efforts to ensure the aviation safety and efficient flights.

  • The safety relating to leakage of water and pitch instability of ship chambers of the full balanced hoist vertical shiplifts has been the focus of adoption of the type of vertical shiplifts. This paper aims to remove the doubts through theoretical and engineering researches. The leakage and pitch stability of ship chambers of full balanced hoist vertical ship lifts are investigated on the basis of theoretical analysis and exploration of engineering measures. Regarding the issue of leakage of ship chambers, a mathematical model on leaking process is built and corresponding formula and coping measures are obtained which can be applied in control program of ship lifts by linking with monitoring. The concept of safety grade is put forward to seek the best technical and economic index and the corresponding technical measures are for different grades of ship lift is suggested. For the issue of pitch instability, a methodology of combining theoretical deduction and summary of achievements of design and operation of the type of the full balanced hoist shiplifts is adopted, and the formula for design about pitch stability of ship chambers is derived.

  • The primary purpose of this paper is to determine the impact of shared values, conflicts and balanced power that reside in the relationships between airline maintenance engineers and pilots who are considered to be core components in operating aircraft. According to the analysis, the higher the shared values, the lower the conflicts, and the more balanced power between those two parties, the higher the mutual trust and job satisfaction levels. It was also found that the quality of flight operation changes depending on the mutual trust and job satisfaction levels. These results clearly show that the quality of flight operation is directly related to the interactions among two parties and feelings for each other in an environment where mutual dependencies are highly required.

  • This paper presents a new winding topology for MW class offshore wind generator having modular and dual 3-phase. Based on proposed simplified relationship between magnetic flux and phase current in the air gap, several new windings for modular and dual 3-phase are made. In case of one inverter operation or faulty operation, the proposed model can have balanced 3-phase induced voltage whereas the conventional generator with modular winding has unbalanced induced voltage, which can be important issue in offshore generator. The model was applied into 6MW prototype machine with dual 3-phase. Using finite element analysis, induced voltage, inductance were investigated. The results show that the proposed modular winding can be applicable to dual inverter system with electrically balanced voltage.

  • Balanced encoding method that implement Dual-rail logic style based on hardware technique to software is efficient countermeasure against side-channel analysis without additional memory. Since balanced encoding keep Hamming weight and/or Hamming distance of intermediate values constantly, using this method can be effective as countermeasure against side channel analysis due to elimination of intermediate values having HW and/or HD relating to secret key. However, former studies were presented for Constant XOR operation, which can only be applied to crypto algorithm that can be constructed XOR operation, such as PRINCE. Therefore, our first proposal of new Constant ADD, Shift operations can be applied to various symmetric crypto algorithms based on ARX. Moreover, we did not used look-up table to obtain efficiency in memory usage. Also, we confirmed security of proposed Constant operations with Mutual Information Analysis.

  • This study is to analyze the performance for ADS-B(Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) operations by the Balanced Scorecard(BSC). It is also to collect the opinions of users(pilots, air traffic controllers and ground operators) relating ADS-B and to use the results as data about preparing political measures of aviation safety. For these purpose, BSC model redesigned on 4 different points of view is used for measuring the performance of the ADS-B operation. The proposed perspectives are affairs effectiveness, user orientation, system orientation and the capacity. As the results of this study, it is showed that the continuous development of ADS-B should be required and the users must be involved in the activities, additionally, the relevant authorities should try to be drawn the user-oriented results through the process.

  • An MMIC single-balanced upconverting mixer for PCS application has been successfully developed using an MMIC process employed by 1 .mu. ion implanted GaAs MESFET and passive lumped elements consisting of spiral inductor, Si3N4 MIM capacitors and NiCr resistors. The configuration of the mixer presented in this paper is two balanced cascode FET mixers with common-source self-bias circuits for single power supply operation. The dimension of the fabricated circuit including two active baluns intermodulation characteristic with two-tone excitation are also measured, showing -28.17 dBc at IF power of -30 dBm.

  • This paper presents a development of operation scheduling and reactive operation scheduling system for hull fabrication. The methodology for implementing operation scheduling system is HHGA(Hierarchical Hybrid Genetic Algorithm) which exploits both the global perspective of the genetic algorithm and the rapid convergence of the heuristic search for operation scheduling. The methodology for the reactive operation scheduling is the revised HHGA which consists of manual schedule editor for occurrence of exceptional events and the revised scheduling method used in operation scheduling. As the results of experiment, it has been confirmed that HHGA is able to search good operation scheduling within reasonable time, and the revised HHGA is able to search load-balanced reactive operation scheduling with minimum changes of initial operation schedule within short period of time.

  • This paper presents the design and measurement of a 2.4/5.2-GHz dual band VCO with a balanced frequency doubler in $0.18\;{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The topology of a 2.4 GHz VCO is a cross-coupled VCO with a LC tank and the frequency of the VCO is doubled by a frequency balanced doubler for a 5.2 GHz VCO. The gate bias matching network for class B operation in the balanced doubler is adopted to obtain as much power at 2nd harmonic output as possible. The average output powers of the 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz VCOs are -12 dBm and -13 dBm, respectively, the doubled VCO has fundamental harmonic suppression of -25 dB. The measured phase noises at 5 MHz frequency offset are -123 dBc /Hz from 2.6 GHz and -118 dBc /Hz from 5.1 GHz. The total size of the dual band VCO is $1.0\;mm{\times}0.9\;mm$ including pads.

  • The high performance 94 GHz MMIC(Monolithic Micro-wave Integrated Circuit) single balanced mixer was designed and fabricated, using MHEMT structure based diodes and a CPW(Coplanar Waveguide) tandem coupler. A novel single-balanced structure of diode mixer is proposed in this work, where a 3-dB tandem coupler with two section of parallel-coupled line. Implemented air-bridge crossover structures achieve wide frequency operation and the fabricated mixer exhibits excellent LO-RF isolation, larger than 30 dB, in the 5 GHz bandwidth of 91-96 GHz. A good conversion loss of 7.4 dB is measured at 94 GHz. The proposed MHEMT-based diode mixer shows superior LO-RF isolation and conversion loss to those of the W-band mixers reported to date.
