Noise Robust Automatic Speech Recognition Scheme with Histogram of Oriented Gradient Features

  • In this paper, we propose a novel technique for noise robust automatic speech recognition (ASR). The development of ASR techniques has made it possible to recognize isolated words with a near perfect word recognition rate. However, in a highly noisy environment, a distinct mismatch between the trained speech and the test data results in a significantly degraded word recognition rate (WRA). Unlike conventional ASR systems employing Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs) and a hidden Markov model (HMM), this study employ histogram of oriented gradient (HOG) features and a Support Vector Machine (SVM) to ASR tasks to overcome this problem. Our proposed ASR system is less vulnerable to external interference noise, and achieves a higher WRA compared to a conventional ASR system equipped with MFCCs and an HMM. The performance of our proposed ASR system was evaluated using a phonetically balanced word (PBW) set mixed with artificially added noise.

  • 회의용 키분배 시스템은 회의용 키를 생성하여 키를 회의에 참석하고 있는 사람에게만 전달하여 서로간에 안전하게 통신하도록 한다. 본 논문에서는 Block Design의 한 분류인 symmetric balanced incomplete block design(SBIBD)를 적용한 효율적인 회의용 키분배시스템을 제안한다. 회의용 키를 생성하고 개인식별 정보를 근거로 하여 인증을 수행하는 통신 프로토콜이 설계된다. 제안된 프로토콜은 회의용 키를 생성하는 메시지의 복잡도를 최소화시키는데, SBIBD의 특별한 분류에서는 참석자의 수 v에 따라 메시지 복잡도는 O(v√v)가 된다. 보안시스템의 구현에서 중요한 요소인 프로토콜의 안전성은 factoring과 discrete logarithm을 계산할 정도로 난해하여 충분히 보장됨을 증명할 수 있다.

  • Given a multi-dimensional dataset of tuples, a skyline query returns a subset of tuples which are not 'dominated' by any other tuples. Skyline query is very useful in Big data analysis since it filters out uninteresting items. Much interest was devoted to the MapReduce-based parallel processing of skyline queries in large-scale distributed environment. There are three requirements to improve parallelism in MapReduced-based algorithms: (1) workload should be well balanced (2) avoid redundant computations (3) Optimize network communication cost. In this paper, we introduce MR-SEAP (MapReduce sample Skyline object Equality Angular Partitioning), an efficient angular space partitioning based skyline query processing using sampling-based pruning, which satisfies requirements above. We conduct an extensive experiment to evaluate MR-SEAP.

  • My purpose in the paper is to research on what is the most productive education method for the Students for Future Dietitian(SFD) to be applied during there field training & practice. Furthermore it is an attempt to elucidate what is the most necessary education program for the field training & practice for SFDs. Five questionnaires were given to SFDs dealing with nutrition purchase hygienic facilities and official management in order to check and evaluate the current situation and problems on the education of field training & practice for SFDs Also I chose 140 SFD's who had been working in the field for at least one week or one month in 1992 and statistical processing were utilized and analyzed by SAS package. One of the most notable problems SDFs faced with during meal planning it is the fact that they had been educated and requested for the cut of food expenditure rather than the supply of scientifically balanced-nutrition meals for working people, SFDs also faced with of information on the quantity and facilities management from the dietitian in the company. my research revealed that dietitian's teaching method for SFDs still remains in a very primitive way and accordingly the efficient way to solve these problems shall be established by a computerized education program through which dietitians can provide well-balanced meals for working people when they are assigned to the company. In this regard we must consider that we have to enact certain law to be applied to a dietitian. In another words we should emphasize actual experiences of SFDs' knowledge accumulated through the field training & practice before they work at the company. Consequently it is a time to reconsider the importance of well-balance dietitian program offering an opportunity for SFD which can contribute to improvement of health's condition for the working people.

  • The efficient node energy utilization is one of important performance factors in wireless sensor networks because sensor nodes operate with limited battery power. To extend the lifetime of the wireless sensor networks, maintaining balanced power consumption between sensor nodes is more important than reducing each energy consumption of the sensor node in the network. In this paper, we proposed a cluster formation algorithm to extend the lifetime of the networks and to maintain a balanced energy consumption of nodes. To obtain it, we add a tiny slot in a round frame, which enables to exchange the residual energy messages between the base station (BS). cluster heads, and nodes. The performance of the proposed protocol has been examined and evaluated with the NS 2 simulator. As a result of simulation, we have confirmed that our proposed algorithm show the better performance in terms of lifetime than LEACH. Consequently, our proposed protocol can effectively extend the network lifetime without other critical overhead and performance degradation.

An efficient Load Balanced Cost Calculation Scheme for QoS Routing (QoS 라우팅을 위한 부하균등 비용산정 방식)

  • An efficient QoS routing scheme needs to find a path that satisfies a given QoS requirements while consuming as few resources as Possible. In this paper, we propose two schemes of calculating resources'costs one for on-demand and one for precomputation QoS routing schemes. These schemes are effective in respect to the global network utilization and the balanced use of network resources. We also propose a QoS routing scheme for transit and Intra traffic in a large scale of domain-based network. For a domain in the network, the routing scheme first precomputes K multip1e paths between all pairs of ingress and ogress border routers while considering balancing of the expected load. We, therefore, expect that the paths are bettor than any other paths in respect to reserving the network resources on Paths. The routine: scheme combines inter and intra domain routings seamlessly and uses the same cost calculation scheme. cote that our cost calculation schemes for both kinds of traffic could be used in existing QoS routing protocols without and modification in small and large scale of networks.

A Cyclic Sliced Partitioning Method for Packing High-dimensional Data (고차원 데이타 패킹을 위한 주기적 편중 분할 방법)

  • Traditional works on indexing have been suggested for low dimensional data under dynamic environments. But recent database applications require efficient processing of huge sire of high dimensional data under static environments. Thus many indexing strategies suggested especially in partitioning ones do not adapt to these new environments. In our study, we point out these facts and propose a new partitioning strategy, which complies with new applications' requirements and is derived from analysis. As a preliminary step to propose our method, we apply a packing technique on the one hand and exploit observations on the Minkowski-sum cost model on the other, under uniform data distribution. Observations predict that unbalanced partitioning strategy may be more query-efficient than balanced partitioning strategy for high dimensional data. Thus we propose our method, called CSP (Cyclic Spliced Partitioning method). Analysis on this method explicitly suggests metrics on how to partition high dimensional data. By the cost model, simulations, and experiments, we show excellent performance of our method over balanced strategy. By experimental studies on other indices and packing methods, we also show the superiority of our method.

Hierarchical Inter-domain Load Balanced QoS Routing (계층적 도메인간 부하분산 QoS 라우팅)

  • In this paper, we propose hierarchical inter-domain load balanced QoS routing in a large scale of network. And a scheme of calculating resources'costs for precomputation schemes in hierarchical routing is proposed, and a scheme for selecting a path among multiple precomputed paths is proposed. We also propose a QoS routing scheme for transit and intra traffic in a large scale of domain-based network. For a domain in the network, the routing scheme first precomputes K multiple paths between all pairs of ingress and egress border routers while considering balancing of the expected load then selects paths with the probability of path selection. The routing scheme combines inter and intra domain routings seamlessly and uses the same cost calculation scheme. And these schemes make possible both global network resources' utilization and also load balancing.

  • Gestalt psychology is a theory of psychology to organize separate stimuli perceived by people's vision to incorporate them into significant types, and this also is applied in terms of the brand awareness of consumers. This study considered which influence the Gestalt psychology theories have upon the fashion consumers' information processing in fashion advertisement. The results are as follows. The principles of the totality and the perceptual organization in the Gestalt psychology are allowing fashion consumers to perceive information through advertisement and to be capable of understanding it a little more easily and clearly in the process. As for the principle of totality, an integrated Gestalt was formed by combining the stimulant elements of fashion ads and the brand schema of consumers. The principles of figure and background that were part of the perceptual organization theory enabled the consumers to pay attention to, choose and focus on some of the objects of perception in an easier and faster way. The principle of perceptual grouping was used to draw attention from the consumers by simplifying the objects of perception and then by combining them or making them look complete. Therefore the more advanced application of the principles and laws of Gestalt psychology is expected to make fashion consumers' way of looking at ads more well balanced and positive in a more efficient and convincing manner.

  • One of the most important issues in the sensor network with resource-constrained sensor nodes is prolonging the network lifetime by efficiently utilizing the given energy of nodes. The most representative mechanism to achieve a long-lived network is the clustering mechanism. In this paper, we propose a new dynamic-size multi-hop clustering mechanism in which the burden of a node acting as a cluster head(CH) is balanced regardless of the density of nodes in a sensor network by adjusting the size of a cluster based on the information about the communication load and the residual energy of the node and its neighboring nodes. We show that our proposed scheme outperforms other single-hop or fixed-size multi-hop clustering mechanisms by carrying out simulations.
