The data deduplication technique identifies the duplicates and minimizes the redundant storage data in the backup server. The chunk level deduplication plays a significant role in detecting the appropriate chunk boundaries, which solves the challenges such as minimum throughput and maximum chunk size variance in the data stream. To provide the solution, we propose a new chunking algorithm called Dynamic Prime Chunking (DPC). The main goal of DPC is to dynamically change the window size within the prime value based on the minimum and maximum chunk size. According to the result, DPC provides high throughput and avoid significant chunk variance in the deduplication system. The implementation and experimental evaluation have been performed on the multimedia and operating system datasets. DPC has been compared with existing algorithms such as Rabin, TTTD, MAXP, and AE. Chunk Count, Chunking time, throughput, processing time, Bytes Saved per Second (BSPS) and Deduplication Elimination Ratio (DER) are the performance metrics analyzed in our work. Based on the analysis of the results, it is found that throughput and BSPS have improved. Firstly, DPC quantitatively improves throughput performance by more than 21% than AE. Secondly, BSPS increases a maximum of 11% than the existing AE algorithm. Due to the above reason, our algorithm minimizes the total processing time and achieves higher deduplication efficiency compared with the existing Content Defined Chunking (CDC) algorithms.
Purpose: Recently, most hospitals are introducing the PACS system and use of the system continues to expand. But small-scaled PACS called MicroPACS has already been in use through open source programs. The aim of this study is to prove utility of operating a MicroPACS, as a substitute back-up device for conventional storage media like CDs and DVDs, in addition to the full-PACS already in use. This study contains the way of setting up a MicroPACS with open source programs and assessment of its storage capability, stability, compatibility and performance of operations such as "retrieve", "query". Materials and Methods: 1. To start with, we searched open source software to correspond with the following standards to establish MicroPACS, (1) It must be available in Windows Operating System. (2) It must be free ware. (3) It must be compatible with PET/CT scanner. (4) It must be easy to use. (5) It must not be limited of storage capacity. (6) It must have DICOM supporting. 2. (1) To evaluate availability of data storage, we compared the time spent to back up data in the open source software with the optical discs (CDs and DVD-RAMs), and we also compared the time needed to retrieve data with the system and with optical discs respectively. (2) To estimate work efficiency, we measured the time spent to find data in CDs, DVD-RAMs and MicroPACS. 7 technologists participated in this study. 3. In order to evaluate stability of the software, we examined whether there is a data loss during the system is maintained for a year. Comparison object; How many errors occurred in randomly selected data of 500 CDs. Result: 1. We chose the Conquest DICOM Server among 11 open source software used MySQL as a database management system. 2. (1) Comparison of back up and retrieval time (min) showed the result of the following: DVD-RAM (5.13,2.26)/Conquest DICOM Server (1.49,1.19) by GE DSTE (p<0.001), CD (6.12,3.61)/Conquest (0.82,2.23) by GE DLS (p<0.001), CD (5.88,3.25)/Conquest (1.05,2.06) by SIEMENS. (2) The wasted time (sec) to find some data is as follows: CD ($156{\pm}46$), DVD-RAM ($115{\pm}21$) and Conquest DICOM Server ($13{\pm}6$). 3. There was no data loss (0%) for a year and it was stored 12741 PET/CT studies in 1.81 TB memory. In case of CDs, On the other hand, 14 errors among 500 CDs (2.8%) is generated. Conclusions: We found that MicroPACS could be set up with the open source software and its performance was excellent. The system built with open source proved more efficient and more robust than back-up process using CDs or DVD-RAMs. We believe that the operation of the MicroPACS would be effective data storage device as long as its operators develop and systematize it.
Recently computing devices by connecting to a network, grid computing, the next generation of digital neural networks that provide maximum service will connect all of the computer such as a PC or server, PDA into one giant network makes the virtual machine. Therefore, we propose the grid computing implementation model to be applied to meteorological business field as follows. First, grid computing will be used for tasks such as the development of numerical models below the mid-scale or test operations, and the final backup of the weather supercomputer. Second, the resources that will constitute grid computing are limited to business PCs and Linux servers operated by the central government considering operational efficiency. Third, the network is restricted to the LAN section, which suggests the implementation of high performance computing.

MANET and P2P applications have a common nature that they don't have any fixed infrastructures that might maintain network topologies. With such common characteristics, a P2P application can be a killer application over MANET. Due to absence of reliable node which serves indexing services in MANET, fully distributed P2P applications are more suitable for MANET. By using DHT like Chord, we can save network bandwidth and avoid a point of failure of a directory server. However, since MANET allows nodes to depart from network freely, P2P file sharing applications using Chord lookup protocol should address how to recover the keys stored at the departed node. In this paper, we propose BU-Chord in order to detect and recover the departure of nodes by creating and storing backup file information in distributed manner. Our BU-Chord shows off better performance than existing Chord especially in case of high departure rate of nodes.
As the e-learning spreads widely and demands on the internet video service, transmitting video data for many users over the Internet becomes popular. To satisfy this needs, the traditional approach uses a tree structure that uses the video server as the root node. However, this approach has the danger of stopping the video service even when one of the nodes along the path has a some problem. In this paper, we propose a video-on-demand service that uses multiple paths. We add new paths for backup and speed up for transmitting the video data. We show by simulation experiments that our approach provides a high-quality of video service.
As cluster systems used for high performance computing consist of large number of running servers, one has to solve the low availability problems occurred by the high chance of the server failures. To handle the problems, it is necessary to have the precise definition of available performance of cluster systems that represents availability and performability of the systems simultaneously. Previous research results that mention availability issues lack for concerning system performance such as waiting time and response time in their availability definition. In this paper, we propose a new availability metric for (n, k)-way cluster systems which compose of n primary servers and k backup servers. With the metric, the change of system performance according to arrival rates is captured and the waiting time of a request can be kept below to a certain level. Using various system operating parameters, we calculate availability and downtime of cluster systems along with waiting tine deadline.

In this paper, we propose a protection solution against intelligent Ransomware attacks by encrypting not only source files but also backup files of external storage. The system is designed to automatically back up to the cloud server at the time of file creation to perform monitoring and blocking in case a specific process affects the original file. When client creates or saves a file, both process identifiers, parent process identifiers, and executable file hash values are compared and protected by the whitelist. The file format that is changed by another process is monitored and blocked to prevent from suspicious behavior. By applying the system proposed in this paper, it is possible to protect against damage caused by the modification or deletion of files by Ransomware.

Recently, due to the development of attack techniques that can circumvent existing information protection systems, continuous threats in a form unrecognized by the user have threatened information assets. Therefore, it is necessary to support the prompt responses to anticipated attempts of APT attacks, bypass access attacks, and encryption packet attacks, which the existing systems have difficulty defending against through a single response, and to continuously monitor information protection systems with a defense strategy based on Indicators of Attack (IOA). In this paper, I suggest a centralized intelligent information protection system to support the intelligent response to a violation by discerning important assets through prevention control in a performance impact assessment about information properties in order to block the attack routes of APT; establishing information control policies through weakness/risk analyses in order to remove the risks in advance; establishing detection control by restricting interior/exterior bypass networks to server access and monitoring encrypted communications; and lastly, performing related corrective control through backup/restoration.
There have been large concerns about survivability defined as the capability of a system to perform a mission-critical role, in a timely manner, in the presence of attacks, failures. In particular, One of the most important core technologies required for the design of the ITS(Intrusion Tolerance System) that performs continuously minimal essential services even when the computer system is partially compromised because of intrusions is the survivability one of In included the dependability analysis of a reliability and availability etc. quantitative dependability analysis of the In. In this Paper, we applied self-healing mechanism utilizing two factors of self-healing mechanism (fault model and system response), the core technology of autonomic computing to secure the protection power of the ITS and consisted of a state transition diagram of the ITS composed of a primary server and a backup server. We also defined the survivability, availability, and downtime cost of the ITS, and then performed studies on simulation experiments and two cases of vulnerability attack. Simulation results show that intrusion tolerance capability at the initial state is more important than coping capability at the attack state in terms of the dependability enhancement.
