  • For the economical and reasonable operation of electric power system according to continual increase of electric power demand and decrease of load factor, the potential application of superconducting magnertic energy storage [SMES] with high efficiency and fast response in the electric utility is receiving attractive attension. In the light of this background, to confirm the basic principle of SMES, theoretical study, design technique and fabrication procedure for superconducting coil, current lead, cryostat, measuring and protection system of SMES are described in detail. Especially, a new design technique for superconducting coil and current lead is porposed and it was proved experimentally by the performance test of SMES which is developed for the first time in our country. At the peak operating current 200A, the maximum magnetic field amd stored energy of the coil are 3.52T and 2500J, espectively. The thermal and mechanical stability of 2500J SMES is also confirmed experimetally by its characteristics test, AC loss, protection system, charge and discharge test. The experimetal results show good characteristics of energy storage system.

Improvement of the Contrast Ratio and Reduction of the Reset Period by Current Controlled Ramp Wavefrom

  • The voltage controlled ramp(VCR) waveform has recently been introduced in the reset period prior to addressing for plasma display. However, this method results in the oscillation of the gap voltage when the ramp rate is increased so as to reduce reset period. In this paper a current controlled ramp(CCR) waveform method in the reset period is suggested. This method can suppress the oscillation of gap voltage under the condition of shorter ramp time. Moreover, the reset time can be reduced by about 30 % compared with the VCR method under the same background luminance.

영유아기의 탁아 경험과 유아의 부모에 대한 애착 및 사회정서적 문제행동과의 관계 (Relationships between Young Children's Day Care Experience and Their Attachment Relationships with Parents and Socioemotional Behavior Problems)

  • The purpose of the current study was to determine whether preschoolers' attachment relationships with their parents and socioemotional behaviors are related to their day care experiences in infancy and at the present time. The participants consisted of 59 preschoolers and their mothers from 2-parent, white, middle-class dual earner families in Madison, Wisconsin. Preschoolers' attachment quality was measured by two representational instruments: the Separation Anxiety Test and "My Family and Friends". Mothers completed questionnaires about their family background and their children's day care history. The quality of current day care was obtained from directors' reports about regulatable features of the day care centers. Teachers completed the Preschool Behavior Questionnaire. Data was analyzed by hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The results showed that the quality of preschoolers' attachment relationships with parents were significantly related to the amount of day care during infancy, the quality of current care, and children's gender. In addition, the amount of infant day care appeared to have negative relations with children's socioemotional behavior problems as evaluated by teachers.

급성관상동맥증후군 남성 환자의 흡연과 스트레스에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Predicting Factors of Smoking and Emotional Stress among Male Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the factors that predict a current smoking behavior and higher emotional stress among male patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods: The study was approved by an institutional review board from a university hospital, 2010. A face to face interview using questionnaires was performed with 185 first-time ACS male patients who were undertaken a percutaneous coronary intervention at a cardiovascular care unit. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 15.0. Results: About 54% of the study subjects were currently smoking. The current smokers had dyslipidemia and reported bad eating habits compared to the non-smokers. The current smokers were younger, living alone, and reported lower perceived benefit on smoking cessation than the non-smokers, and 15% of them did not consider quitting (precontemplation stage). Smoking status was not significantly related to emotional stress. Logistic regression analysis revealed that being employed including professional or labor increased the odds of current smoking four or three times compared to the non-employed or retired. Low income or dyslipidemia also increased the likelihood of current smoking 2.8 and 2.1 times, respectively. Blue collar workers or heavy drinkers had 2.9 and 2.8 times more risks of having higher level of stress. Conclusion: An occupational background and health habits should be considered to develop an effective educational strategy for smoking cessation and stress reduction among male patients with ACS.

Temperature dependency of magnetic field drifts of HTS pancake coils for NMR/MRI applications

  • We had proposed a winding method so called "Wind-and-Flip", which enables a persistent current operation of an HTS pancake coil without any electrical joint. In order to improve the magnetic field drift characteristics, a prototype HTS coil with the technique was fabricated, and tested under various temperatures. Because the coil doesn't have any electric terminals for current leads, an HTS background magnet was used to induce the persistent current in the coil by field cooling process. A conduction cooling system with a GM cryocooler was prepared to keep the operating temperatures of the prototype coil much below the 77 K. We investigated the magnetic field drift characteristics under the various operating temperatures by measuring the center magnetic field with a cryogenic Hall sensor. The persistent current mode operation at 20 ~ 50K showed a strong possibility of the winding technique for the application such as MRI or NMR.

Effect of Amygdalin from Armeniacae Semen on Ion Currents Changed by Lipopolysaccharide in Rat Periaqueductal Gray Neurons

  • Background : Amygdalin is abundant in Armeniacae semen, and it is recently reported to treat cancers and relieve pain. But modus operandi of amygdalin at the level of neuron has not been reported, yet. Objective : This study aimed to find out the effect of amygdalin on glycine- and glutamate-induced ion currents in periaqueductal gray (PAG) neurons. And it was investigated that amygdalin participates in the regulation of the descending pain control system in the level of PAG neurons. Method : We investigated that the changes of glycine- and glutamate-induced ion currents in PAG neurons through application of lipopolysaccharides (LPS) and application of amygdalin with LPS by using the nystatin-perforated patch clamp method. Result : Application of LPS on PAG neurons resulted in increased glycine-induced ion current, and in decreased glutamate-induced ion current. In contrast, application of amygdalin with LPS resulted in decreased glycine-induced ion current increased by LPS, and increased glutamate-induced ion current decreased by LPS. Conclusion : Amygdalin from Armeniacae semen controls glycine- and glutamate-induced ion current by LPS in PAG neurons, and it is suggested that amygdalin participates in the regulation of the descending pain control system in the level of PAG neurons.

Study on the Output Current for Electrochemical Low-energy Neutrino Detector with Regards to Oxygen Concentration

  • Background: Experiments with small electrochemical apparatus were previously carried out for detecting low-energy neutrinos under irradiation of reactor neutrinos and under natural neutrino environment. The experimental result indicated that the output current of reactor-neutrino irradiated detector was appreciably larger than that of natural environmental one. Usual interaction cross-sections of neutrinos are quite small, so that they do not explain the experimental result at all. Materials and Methods: To understand the experimental data, we propose that some biological products may generate AV-type scalar field B0, leading to a large interaction cross-section. The output current generation is ascribed to an electrochemical process that may be assisted by weak interaction phenomena. Dissolved oxygen concentrations in the detector solution were measured in this study, for the purpose of understanding the mechanism of the detector output current generation. Results and Discussion: It was found that the time evolution of experimental output current was mostly reproduced in simulation calculation on the basis of the measured dissolved oxygen concentration. Conclusion: We mostly explained the variation of experimental data by using the electrochemical half-cell analysis model based on the DO concentration that is consistent to the experiment.

60세이상 노인의 신체 부위별 전기자극시간에 따른 역치 변화에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Influence of Change of Electrical Stimulation Time on Body Regions Affects on Threshold of People Over Age 60)

  • Background: The purpose of this study was influence of change of electrical stimulation time on body regions affects on electrical current threshold. Methods: The present study is to examine the effect of silver spike point (SSP) electrical stimulation (1Hz), transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS, 100Hz), and interferential current therapy (ICT, 50Hz) from the low back and scapulodorsal and knee joint regions on stimulation-induced current thresholds from the elderly (over sixty) people (male:72, female:91) in senior welfare center. Result: The low back region, but not scapulodorsal and knee joint region, significantly increased the TENS and ICT, but not SSP, electrical stimulation, significantly increased the time-dependent current thresholds in elderly patients. Conclusion: Therefore, these results, in part, suggest that the TENS and ICT were shown to be a more adaptable method of stimulation, and that needed of the development of senile specialized physical therapy and the utilization of senior leisure facilities such as senior welfare center the others.

청소년의 궐련형 전자담배 현재 사용에 따른 관련 요인 분석 (A Study on Characteristics Related to the Current Use of Heated Tobacco Products among Adolescents)

  • Background: The use of heated tobacco products (HTP) causes many adverse health effects. Although the use of HTP by adolescents is prevalent worldwide, research related to it is very limited. There is a considerable lack of research related to the current HTP use rather than ever-HTP use. In particular, research related to predictive factors for current HTP use in adolescents is scarce. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze related characteristics according to the current use of HTP among South Korean adolescents. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study that used data from the Seventeenth Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYRBWS). A total of 54,848 students in 2021 were included in this study. Chi-square-test, multiple logistic regression analysis, and chi-square test for trend were used for analyzing related characteristics according to use of HTP. Results: Overall, 715 (1.3%) students responded as having used HTP during the last 30 days among the 54,848 students. It was found that residence type, subjective body type recognition, subjective health recognition, alcohol use, habitual drug experience, close friend current smoking, and conventional cigarette smoking were significantly associated characteristics with the current use of heated tobacco products. Comparing 'very thin recognition' with 'very fat recognition', the adjusted odds ratio (OR) was 1.93 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.29~2.87) for current use of HTP. Additionally, comparing 'very unhealthy recognition' with 'very healthy recognition', the aOR was 3.82 (95% CI: 2.40~6.07) for current use of HTP. Conclusions: Based on these results, residence type, subjective body type recognition, subjective health recognition, alcohol use, habitual drug experience, close friend current smoking, and conventional cigarette smoking were associated with significantly increased odds of current HTP use. Therefore, the results of this study can provide useful evidence about adolescent behaviors in predicting current HTP use.

방송의 디지털화와 텔레비전 다큐멘터리 배경음악의 변화 -생산자의 심층인터뷰를 중심으로 (A Study on the change of documentary background music according to the digitalization of broadcasting)

  • 본 연구는 변화된 방송환경에서 텔레비전 다큐멘터리 배경음악 사용에 대한 생산자들의 인식은 어떠하며, 배경음악 사용이 어떻게 변화되고 있는지를 14명의 생산자 심층인터뷰를 통해 알아보았다. 연구결과, 방송 디지털화에 따라 다큐멘터리 배경음악은 작곡음악보다는 라이브러리음악의 사용이 보편화되었다. 또한 다큐멘터리 음악은 작품성, 다양성, 편리성 등으로 라이브러리음악 사용이 점차 확대되고 있었다. 라이브러리음악의 보편화는 텔레비전 다큐멘터리 생산자들 간의 관계와 배경음악에 대한 인식의 변화를 가져와 연출자(PD)와 음악감독의 공동작업이었던 배경음악 생산은 편집영상을 이메일 등을 통해 쉽게 주고받을 수 있게 됨으로써 생산자 간의 커뮤니케이션이 사라진 채 업무가 분업화되고 있다. 다큐멘터리의 라이브러리 음악 사용은 결국 다양한 방송제작 주체들의 창조적 생산활동참여에 장애가 될 수 있으며 음악사용의 규격화와 프로그램의 질적 저하를 가져올 수 있다는 함의에 도달하였다.
