고농도 유기성폐수의 혐기성처리시 SRT변화에 따른 유기물질 제거효율에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Substrate Removal Efficiency with Varing SRT in Anaerobic Treatment of High Organic Wastewater)

  • A synthetic wastewater composed of powdered baby food and inorganic nutrients was treated by five 3.6L anaerobic reactors in order to test the relationship between solids retention time (SRT) and media surface ratio, and the removal efficiencies of organic substrate. Of the five reactors, four were semi-continuously fed stirred-tank reactors and one continuously-stirred batch reactor. The influent was 7430mg/L in COD, 7120 mg/L $BOD_L$ and 6350mg/L in $BOD_5$, respectively. Operating temperature was $35{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ and pH in the range 6.9 to 7.2. In this experimental study it was found that a linear relationship existed, within the experiment range, between SRT and media surface ratio, and that SRT and removal efficiency increased with increasing media surface ratio. The substrate removal efficiencies were 82.7 to $88.2\%$ in COD, 82.9 to $88.4\%$ in $BOD_L$ and 83.3 to $88.7\%$ in $BOD_5$, respectively.

모래여과 및 오존처리에 의한 하천수 수질개선 효과 연구(1) - BOD, COD, SS 및 색도 제거 경향 고찰 (Improvement of River Water Quality By Combined Treatment of Sand Filtration and Ozonation(1) - Focusing on Reduction of BOD, COD, SS and Color)

  • While various aspects affect river water quality, reduction of water flow rate during dry seasons is one of the most significant factors causing severe water pollution in river water environment. The aim of this study is to investigate the feasibility of applying a physicochemical method (sand filtration + ozonation) for improving river water quality within a short period. The parameters analyzed and assessed were $COD_{cr}$, BOD, SS and color. The source river water had a severe pollution level showing COD 8.8~17.2 mg/L (ave. 11.9 mg/L), BOD 4.8~13.3 mg/L (ave. 8.3 mg/L), SS 9.0~22.1 mg/L (ave. 12.8 mg/L) and color 34.4~77.1 degree (ave. 56.5 degree) during the experimental periods. The variation trends showed a relatively low correlation between BOD and COD and between color and COD, while SS showed very low correlation with other parameters. The combined process of sand filtration and ozonation showed averaged removal efficiency of COD 37.2%, BOD 48.4%, SS 60.1% and colority 45.1%, respectively. The marked change of BOD level from 8.3 mg/L to 4.3 mg/L under the experimental conditions in this study implied the improvement of class V to class III set by the river water quality standard in Korea.

Parametric study of brewery wastewater effluent treatment using Chlorella vulgaris microalgae

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the biomass and lipid production of Chlorella vulgaris and its nutrient removal capability for treatment of brewery wastewater effluent. The results indicate that the maximum biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) (91.43%) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) (83.11%) were removed by C. vulgaris with aeration in the absence of light. A maximum of 0.917 g/L of dry biomass was obtained with aeration in the dark conditions, which also demonstrated the highest amount of unsaturated fatty acids at 83.22%. However, the removal of total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) with these aeration and light conditions was 9.7% and 11.86% greater than that of other conditions. The removal of BOD and COD and the production of biomass and lipids with aeration in the dark and the TN and TP removal with aeration and light were more effective than other conditions in the brewery wastewater effluent in the presence of C. vulgaris.

  • This study mainly concentrated on the treatment of nightsoil by an anaerobic filter media process. Nightsoil has been one of the major water pollutants in this couotry. It represents high ROD and SS concentrations. A comprehensive laboratory study conducted at Kangwoon National University indicate: (1) In the case of anaerobic filter system, COD and BOD removal efficiencies were greatly influenced by hydraulic retention time(HRT), but SS removal efficiencies dropped slowly when HRT were 2~13 days. (2) COD removal efficiencies were 19% when HRT were 15 days, 14% when HRT were 8 days, 10% when HRT were 6 days, 9% when HRT were 4 days, 2% when HRT were 2 days. (3) BOD removal efficiencies were 23% when HRT were 15 days, 14% when HRT were 8 days, 18% when HRT were 6 days, 7% when HRT were 4 days, 5.8% when HRT were 2days. (4) SS removal efficiencies were 21%~25%(2~15 days HRT).

A2/O 공법을 이용한 소규모 하수처리시스템의 몽골 현지 적용에 관한 연구 (Application Study of small-scale sewage treatment system with A2/O precess in Mongolia)

  • The small-scale sewage treatement system with $A^2/O$ process was applied to evaluate applicability for Mongolian sewage, It was designed to have 10 m3/d flowrate and installed in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. During over 6month operation BOD, COD, TN, TP removal efficiency were measured and operation condition was optimized. In addition, MLSS concentration its internal circulation rate and DO were adjusted properly. BOD, COD showed average 88 perecent of removal and TN and TP achieved 81 percent and 88 percent removal efficency, respectively. Maxium influent concentration of BOD, COD, TN and TP was 214 mg/L, 300 mg/L, 24.3 mg/L and 5 mg/L respectively, which were decreased to 4.1 mg/L, 5.6 mg/L, 1.3 mg/L and 0.15 mg/L by the test system. This study show possibility tham small-scale sewage treatment system could be a useful system for scattered sewage wastewater treatment.

오존접촉산화 공정과 Peroxone AOP 공정을 이용한 염색폐수방류수 고도산화 처리특성 연구 (Study on Treatment Characteristic of Advanced Oxidation Process using Ozone Oxidation and Peroxone AOP Process for Waste Dyeing Water Effluent Treatment)

  • Effect of pH on ozone oxidation and peroxone AOP(Advanced Oxidation Process) process was analyzed and the optimal efficiency for both processes was obtained at pH 7.5. In case of ozone oxidation process, the efficiencies of color, $COD_{Mn}$ and $BOD_5$ removal were measured to 93%, 70% and 89% at a reaction time of 50 min(ozone dosage of 111.67mg/$\ell$). When reaction time increased to 90 min(ozone dosage of 201mg/$\ell$), the efficiencies of color, $COD_{Mn}$ and $BOD_5$ removal were increased by 3~5 %, indicating that the increment of removal efficiency was insignificant considering longer reaction time. Similarly, the ozone/$H_2O_2$ ratio was optimized to 0.5 for peroxone AOP process. Removal efficiencies of color, $COD_{Mn}$ and $BOD_5$ were measured 95%, 81% and 94% at a reaction time of 50 min(ozone dosage of 111.67mg/$\ell$). When reaction time increased to 90min(ozone dosage of 201mg/$\ell$), the removal efficiency of color, CODMn, and BOD5 increased slightly by 1~5%.

아세트 알데히드(특수산업) 폐수의 생물학적 처리 (Studies on the Biological Treatment of Waste Water from Acetaldehyde Plant)

  • 아세트알데히드 공장폐수의 생물학적 처리를 위하여 중화제 및 응집제의 효과를 검토하고, 4개 균주 Micrococcus roseus AW-6. Micrococcus luteus, AW -22. Microbacterium lacticum AW-38. Microbacterium laevaniformans AW-41을 혼합 배양하여 미생물의 영양요구량 및 성장에 미치는 환경인자 둥을 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 아세트알데히드 폐수를 잘 자화시키는데 필요한 온도는 $30^{\circ}C$였고 pH는 7.0이였으며 96시간째에 COD 제거율이 최대에 달하였다. 폐수처리를 위한 중화제로서는 NaOH가 가장 좋았고 응집제의 처리 효과는 인정되지 않았으며 폐수처리를 위한 최적 희석배수는 10배 정도로 나타났다. 균 생육을 위한 영양원으로서는 $NH_{2}NO_{3}$ 200ppm, $KH_{2}PO_{4}$, 50ppm, $CaCl_{2}$ 15ppm. $MgSO_{4} \cdot 7H_{2}O $ ppm을 보충하였을 때 COD 제거율이 향상되었다. 회분배양 실험결과 속도계수 Kl은 4. 5X 10-6이었으며, BOD 제거융을 85%로 하기 위한 체류시간은 45시간 이었다. 연속배양 결과 COD 제거율은 85%로 나타났으며 처리수의 수질은 COD 60ppm. BOD 40ppm, pH7.0 정도로서 환경기준치 이하였다.

모래와 굴패각을 이용한 인공습지 오수처리장치 개발 (Development of Constructed Wetland using Sand and Oyster shell for Sewage Treatment)

  • To develop sewage treatment apparatus by natural purification method, the sewage treatment plant that consisted of aerobic and anaerobic plot was constructed. And then, the effects of treatment conditions on the removal of pollutants in the relation to sewage loading, sewage injection method and season according to the pebble kind. Removal rate of BOD and COD according to the sewage loading in effluent were over 95 and 77%, respectively. Removal rate of nitrogen in treated water by aerobic plot and effluent using sand were about 22~40 and 49~75%, respectively. Those of effluent using sand 75%+ oyster shell 25% and sand 50%+ oyster shell 50% as filter media in comparison with using sand were about 7~25 and 16~23%, respectively. Removal rate of phosphorus in treated water by aerobic plot and effluent using sand as filter media were about 30~36 and 52~56%, respectively. Those of effluent using sand 75%+ oyster shell 25% and sand 50%+ oyster shell 50% in comparison with using sand as filter media were about 11~40 and 12~45%, respectively. Removal efficiency of BOD and COD according to the intermittent injection method of sewage were slightly decreased, but those of nitrogen and phosphorus were little varied in comparison with continuous injection method. Removal efficiency of BOD and COD in winter in comparison with the others were little varied, but those of nitrogen and phosphorus slightly decreased.

침출수를 이용한 미생물 제제의 활성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Activation of Microbial Products by Using the Leachate)

  • Activation bacteria, identified from commercial microbial products, were applied to leachate treatment. Total seven strains of bacteria Enterobacteriaceae spp. (5), Bacillus sp. (1), Aeromonas sp. (1) were seeded in the leachate and cultured in the shaking incubator at 25$^{\circ}$C and 250 rpm. While cultured, they were sampled in given time intervals and the removal rates of SS, COD, BOD, T-N.and T-P were measured an indicators of leachate treatment. Through the screening test, four of 7 strains of bacteria were considered to be effective and they were named as "effective group". The capability of leachate treatment was observed on three different groups of bacteria single, effctive, and total mixed. The result showed that the removal rates of COD and SS for the total mixed group were 64 and 71% respectively. BOD removal rate was reached nearly 99% by seeding of effective griup and removal rates of T-P and T-N were 83 and 82% respectively. However seeding of single strain was less effective than that of any mixed group in leachate treatment.

연속회본식 반응조를 이용한 축산폐수의 처리에 관한 연구 (A Study on Treatment of Livestock Wastewater by Sequencing Batch Reactor)

  • This study was performed to investigate the characteristics of livestock wastewater excepting pig feces and the variation tendency of water quality and the removal efficiency of polluting materials by establishing the sequencing batch reactor in the field.The results were as follows, 1. The characteristics of livestock wastewater as follows: BOD: 619.80, COD$_{cr}$: 782.70, NH$_{3}$-N: 194.20, TKN: 232.81, PO$_{4}$-P: 24.10, T-P: 215.14 (mg/l) 2. During the reaction, negative correlation existed between pH and dissolved oxygen concentration. 3. The removal efficiency of the organic material by the index of BOD and COD was about 90%. 4. Nitrogen removal efficiency was 65.6% by total Kjeldahl nitrogen index, and phosphorous removal efficiency was about 47% by PO$_{4}$-P concentration.
