  • The rapid growth of blog has caused information overload where bloggers in the virtual community space are no longer able to effectively choose the blogs they are exposed to. Recommender systems have been widely advocated as a way of coping with the problem of information overload in e-business environment. Collaborative Filtering (CF) is the most successful recommendation method to date and used in many of the recommender systems. In this research, we propose a CF-based recommender system for bloggers to find their similar bloggers or preferable virtual community without burdensome search effort. For such a purpose, we apply the "Interest Value" to CF recommender systems. The Interest Value is the quantity value about users' transaction data in virtual community, and can measure the opinion of users accurately. Based on the Interest Value, the neighborhood group is generated, and virtual community list is recommended using the Community Likeness Score (ClS). Our experimental results upon real data of Korean Blog site show that the methodology is capable of dealing with the information overload issue in virtual community space. And Interest Value is proved to have the potential to meet the challenge of recommendation methodologies in virtual community space.

  • The worldwide spread of the internet has made it an important topic in our everyday lives. It has not only changed ordinary lives, but also the whole spectrum of modern society. Thus, it is necessary to understand the characteristic changes in learners as well as social demand in this drastic transformation period and to modify the goal and methods of learning to nurture future intellects. To achieve this, there have been recent attempts to invent new learning methods involving Web 2.0, which focuses on the user. Out of the various aspects of Web 2.0, the blog is expected to invoke learner-oriented education and active discussions between learners, in that the individual manages the blog autonomously and there is much interaction between users. This study will construct a learning system using the blog, apply it on real learners, and analyze its effect on the learners' scholastic achievements, interests, and learning transfer.

EcoBlog: 4d Spatial Framework for Ecological Virtual Community (EcoBlog: 생태학적 가상 커뮤니티 구현을 위한 4 차원 공간 프레임워크)

  • Although people's anxiety about the environmental problem has been getting higher, they are not provided good quality of knowledge about the environment. Based on this situation, Ecoblog can be a new type of online community to educate the public in ecological knowledge. Especially, Ecoblog can be utilized as a method of "preventive education", and it will contribute to reduce great amounts of environmental budget to restore contaminated environment to previous condition. Ecoblog also utilizes the concept of blog which user can create and append their site with chosen themes. A weblog or a blog is a non-commercial webpage regularly updated through the use of a blogging software which allows the user to "publish" kinds of amalgamations of text and graphics to the page as posts. The technology offered in Ecoblog is utilizing the concept of 4D place and game metaphor in order to provide users the sense of participation, interaction and immersion among them and the growing community. Thus, it requires applying the CAAD technology by implementing semantically well-defined building data model as a core database to create a 4D virtual community. This research focuses on defining a 4d spatial framework suitable for developing an online ecological community. Through our study, the state-of-the-art of online community has been studied at the first step. Second, the scenario of using EcoBlog described with content, visualization and navigation are defined based on the critical features derived at the first step. Finally, a 4d spatial framework composed of semantic building data model, content and rule database is constructed to propose factors that are necessary to establish an ecological virtual community. In conclusion, our framework could enhance the comprehension and interaction between users and virtual buildings in the ecological community by integrating the concept of game design, 4D CAD and semantic data model. Such framework can be applied to any online community for an educational purpose.

Splog Detection Using Post Structure Similarity and Daily Posting Count (포스트의 구조 유사성과 일일 발행수를 이용한 스플로그 탐지)

  • A blog is a website, usually maintained by an individual, with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. Blog search engines, like web search engines, seek information for searchers on blogs. Blog search engines sometimes output unsatisfactory results, mainly due to spam blogs or splogs. Splogs are blogs hosting spam posts, plagiarized or auto-generated contents for the sole purpose of hosting advertizements or raising the search rankings of target sites. This thesis focuses on splog detection. This thesis proposes a new splog detection method, which is based on blog post structure similarity and posting count per day. Experiments based on methods proposed a day show excellent result on splog detection tasks with over 90% accuracy.

  • This study is focusing to the keyword and blog advertising marketing services that are implementing a viral marketing utilizing keyword searches of the search portal and advertiser's blogs with convergent way. Through a case study for the company operating the service to pinpoint consumers to the advertisers site by indirect exposure via keyword advertising blog at the top of the search results, we analyzed the primitive service operation model on transactional relationship between the business players. We have a research purpose to generate improvement alternatives for the company's keyword advertising marketing services and operation solution using the survey study on the service quality perception and the perceptional gap between user groups. As results of study, we founded 4 types of the service solution and 4 models of service operating architecture on the transactional relations, and we recommended some improvements on the service and solution operation based on the SERVQUAL questionnaire analysis of the difference between the ads sponsor group and ads agency group.

  • A research model was created in order to explore the factors on use intention based on Technology Acceptance Model and considered factors of Mobile-Blog Characteristics (Participation, Sharedness, Immediacy) and factors of Mobile-User Characteristics(Innovativeness, Familiarity). With 165 people as specimens for empirical analysis, The results were as follows: first, factors of Mobile-Blog Characteristics had a positive influence upon Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness. second, factors of Mobile-User Characteristics had a positive influence upon Perceived ease and Perceived usefulness. third, Perceived ease had a positive influence upon Perceived usefulness and Perceived ease and Perceived usefulness had a positive influence upon use intention. This study suggested the strategic implications to promote customers use intention after analyzing the critical factors that mobile-blog made influence on them.

Post Clustering Method using Tag Hierarchy for Blog Search (블로그 검색에서의 태그 계층구조를 이용한 포스트 군집화)

  • Blog plays an important role as new type of knowledge base distinguishing from traditional web resource. While information resources in their existing website dealt with a wide range of topics, information resources of the blog are concentrated in specific units of information depending on the user's interests and have the criteria of classification forresources published by tagging. In this research, we build a tag hierarchy utilizing title keywords and tags of the blog, and propose apost clustering methodology applying the tag hierarchy. We then generate the tag hierarchy reflected the relationship between tags and develop the tag clustering methodology according to tag similarity. In this paper, we analyze the possibility of applying the proposed methodology with real-world examples and evaluate its performances through developed prototype system.

  • The Learning Models including the design principle about web 2.0 use in education has been recently presented. In types of web 2.0 tools, blogs are the best tool that reflected the trends of web 2.0 and these are able to share a lot of information and contents. To invent new learning methods involving web 2.0, this study aims to get the results about effectiveness of learning performance on a supplementary learning tool based on blog using learner-centric UI/UX design in higher education. As a study tool, installation-type blog that can be designed as user-centric system is applied to experimental environment. This study presents the conclusion that supplementary learning tool based on blog using learner-centric UI/UX design influences on learning achievement and learning flow through the analysis of questionnaire results of learners, learning evaluation score of learners and assignments evaluation score of learners.

Associated Keyword Recommendation System for Keyword-based Blog Marketing (키워드 기반 블로그 마케팅을 위한 연관 키워드 추천 시스템)

  • Recently, the influence of SNS and online media is rapidly growing with a consequent increase in the interest of marketing using these tools. Blog marketing can increase the ripple effect and information delivery in marketing at low cost by prioritizing keyword search results of influential portal sites. However, because of the tough competition to gain top ranking of search results of specific keywords, long-term and proactive efforts are needed. Therefore, we propose a new method that recommends associated keyword groups with the possibility of higher exposure of the blog. The proposed method first collects the documents of blog including search results of target keyword, and extracts and filters keyword with higher association considering the frequency and location information of the word. Next, each associated keyword is compared to target keyword, and then associated keyword group with the possibility of higher exposure is recommended considering the information such as their association, search amount of associated keyword per month, the number of blogs including in search result, and average writhing date of blogs. The experiment result shows that the proposed method recommends keyword group with higher association.

Timeline Tag Cloud Generation for Broadcasting Contents using Blog Postings (블로그 포스팅을 이용한 방송 콘텐츠 영상의 타임라인 단위 태그 클라우드 생성)

  • Due to the recent increasement of user created contents like SNS, blog posts, and so on, broadcast contents are actively re-construction by its users. Especially, on some genres like drama, movie, various information from cars and film sites to clothes and watches in a content is spreaded out to other users through blog postings. Since such information can be an additional information for the content, they can be used for providing high-quality broadcast services. For this purpose, in this paper, we propose timeline tag cloud generation method for broadcasting contents. In the proposed method, blog postings on the target contents are first gathered and then, images and words around images are extracted from a blog post as a tag set. An extracted tag set is tagged on a specific timeline of the target content. In experiments, to prove the efficiency of the proposed method, we evaluated the performances of the proposed image matching and tag cloud generation methods.
