  • This paper investigated the method for the output of power management IC (PMIC) for BLE beacon with energy harvesting device to be maintained constantly. The capacitor was used to store the energy supplied from energy harvesting device such as solar module and the capacitance was estimated to the optimum value according to the interval for the BLE beacon to send advertising signal.

  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), also known as Bluetooth Smart, has ultra-low power consumption; in fact, BLE-enabled devices can run on a single coin cell battery for several years. In addition, BLE can estimate the approximate distance between two devices using the Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) feature, enabling relatively precise navigation in indoor and small outdoor areas where GPS is not an option. In this paper, an experimental setup is presented in which BLE is used for navigation within a small outdoor area. BLE-based beacons are installed in fixed positions, which periodically transmit a universally unique identifier (UUID). A smart device receives the UUID and sends it to a database server using cellular or Wi-Fi technology. The server returns fixed position information corresponding to the received UUID codes, and the smart device uses that information to compute its current position based on relative signal strengths, and display it on a map. These results demonstrate the successful application of BLE technology for navigation in small outdoor areas. This system can be implemented for indoor navigation as well.

  • Smart City, a key application area of the AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things), provides various services in safety, security, and healthcare sectors through location tracking and location-based services. an IPS (Indoor Positioning System) is required to implement location-based services, and wireless communication technologies such as WiFi, UWB (Ultra-wideband), and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) are being applied. BLE, which enables data transmission and reception with low power consumption, can be applied to various IoT devices such as sensors and beacons at a low cost, making it one of the most suitable wireless communication technologies for indoor positioning. BLE utilizes the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) to estimate the distance, but due to the influence of multipath fading, which causes variations in signal strength, it results in an error of several meters. In this paper, we conducted research on a path loss model that can be applied to BLE IPS for proximity services, and confirmed that optimizing the free space propagation loss coefficient can reduce the distance error between the Tx and Rx devices.

  • The era of IoT in which all objects are intelligent and are connected to the Internet has been started. In order to establish and activate an IoT eco system, open services platform is very important. In this paper, we developed a BLE sensor module as a component of the open service platform based on the IoT and the open source hardware Blutooth4.0. To verify the functionality and performance of the developed BLE sensor module was built to evaluate the performance of the test environment.

  • A lipopeptide extract of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens BACY1 (BLE) was found to induce cell death in human oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cell lines, SCC4 and SCC25, in this study. The results of MTT assay showed that BLE inhibited OSCC cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner. BLE was also effective in increasing the sub-G1 phases. Furthermore, when membrane damage in SCC4 cells treated with BLE was monitored by LDH assay, release of LDH was significantly increased. The protein and mRNA levels of pro-apoptotic Bax, and caspase-3 were up-regulated by BLE. Taken together, these results suggest that BLE induces apoptosis and then inhibits the cell proliferation of human OSCC cells.

  • In recent years, BLE technology has received extensive attention and has been applied to all aspects of life. The existing BLE device has two methods, one is the connection method, and the other is a non-connection method. The representative profile of the connection method is the proximity file. The most typical example of Non-connection method BLE device is a beacon. However, they are both independent and have their own shortcomings. Connection method device can provide service for only one user, others can't use. Security performance of Non-connection method BLE device is poor and the device can't be controlled by the user. In this paper, a combination-mode BLE device profile design scheme is presented, which combines with the previous two methods, and solves the defaults. And We define a dual purpose advertising package that can be used in a normal environment as well as in a disaster environment. Finally, a unidirectional Control idea is proposed. Through performance evaluation, we found that the device has strong stability and low power consumption.

  • Recently increasing usage of smartphones makes the Internet of Things (IoT) a leading technology that can collect and share data through sensor networks and wireless communication such as low-power Bluetooth (BLE). BLE-based application can provide operators more precise information on Automatic Door system by remotely diagnosing the system faults through wireless sensor networks and sensors around the Automatic Door. In this paper, a smart device with extended BLE module is implemented which can monitor and Control the system states and faults remotely without on-site diagnostic. while maintaining system integrity so that increase efficiency of time and costs for system management. We can use the results of this research as a basis in evaluating reliability of data between devices, extending communication module in Controller of obsolete Door systems, and establishing centralized monitoring systems in near future with multi-channel Door Controls.

  • Bluetooth is the key technology in the wireless connection of many Internet of Things (IoT) devices, especially focused on smartphones today. In addition, Bluetooth communication between the IoT device and the user is mainly performed via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), but as the Bluetooth technology gradually develops, the security vulnerability of the existing BLE is more prominent. Research on Bluetooth accessibility has been conducted steadily so far, but there is lack of research for data protection in Bluetooth communication. Therefore, in this paper, when sending and receiving data in BLE communication between IoT and users, we propose effective methods for communicating with each other through the Format Preserving Encryption Algorithm (FEA), not the plain text, and measures performance of FEA which is optimized in Arduino and PC.

  • Unlike the satellite-based outdoor positioning system, the indoor positioning system utilizes various wireless technologies such as BLE, Wi-Fi, and UWB. BLE-based beacon technology can measure the user's location by periodically broadcasting predefined device ID and location information and using RSSI from the receiving device. Existing BLE-based indoor positioning system studies have many studies comparing the error between the user's actual location and the estimated location at a single point. In this paper, we propose a technique to evaluate the positioning accuracy according to the movement path or area by applying the entropy analysis model. In addition, simulation results show that calculated entropy results for different paths can be compared to assess which path is more accurate.
