  • Photovoltaic(PV) technology is a popular part of building vocabulary. It can be used today on both existing and new buildings. Its use in the building envelope is very varied and open ways, such as roofing materials, facades, skylights and shading systems, for creative designers. So, to activate this systems demand appropriate sources of information, performance data of elements and design tools offering architects and designer. Therefore this paper describe application elements for BIPV system and then predict improvement in the generated electric power performance of balcony BIPV system.

  • BIPV(Building Integrated PV) system can expect dual effects that reduce expenses for establishment of PV system by adding new function as outer covering material of building expect producing the electricity. But, there are many generation differences according to the exterior environmental facts(solar cell away, design and installation condition of interactive inverter system) Therefore, it is difficult to optimum design. Consequently in advance design system, we experiment 3kW BIPV(Building Integrated PV) generation. We concrete PV system efficient application of variable. BIPV system that is proposed in this paper, was established in Solar Energy research center of Chosun University, composed with system. This research is a basic study for application of building integrated photovoltaic system for builing.

  • Photovoltaic(PV) based electricity production is pollution-free at the local as well as the global level, it does not emit greenhouse gases, it dose not dip into finite file resources and it can be easily integrated into the urban environment, close to major consumption needs. So BIPV(Building-Integrated Photovoltaics) system have been increased around the world. This paper presents measuring and analyzing performance of balcony BIPV system which have been installed and monitoring. The system is influenced by conditions such as irradiation, module temperature, shade and architectural component etc. By the results, it is very important to develop optimal design for the balcony PV system.

  • With the advent of cutting-edge technology, renewable energy is significantly considered as alternative resources to supply electric power. However, many barriers such as energy intermittency, high initial installation cost, and low-efficiency generation challenged building new infrastructure with clean energy. Efforts reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on fossil fuels resulted in the decentralization of power generation like distributed energy resource (DER). This paper is to introduce and evaluate the feasibility of building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) in a high-rise building in Ulsan. To optimize BIPV, a variety of methods to minimize efficiency decrease and maximize electric power generation after installing BIPV on the building's facade are suggested. The variables causing power losses are analyzed. By utilizing System Advisor Model (SAM), actual power generated from solar panels is measured by Thin-film PV, Mono-crystalline PV, and Poly-crystalline PV.

  • This paper proposed colored front panel glass for Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) systems using multi-layered thin films composed of transition metal oxide (TMO) layers. Molybdenum oxide (MoO3) and tungsten oxide (WO3) provided complementary and suitable materials in making effective interference of reflected light from interfaces with significant difference in refractive indices. A simple, fast, and cheap fabrication method was achieved by depositing the multi-layer films in a single thermal evaporator. Magenta colored glass with optical transmittance of more than 90% was achieved with MoO3 (60nm)/WO3(100nm) multi-layered film. This technology could play in a critical role in commercial BIPV system applications.

  • This study examines building's power consumption unit cost and Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV)'s generation efficiency and load rate with the subjects of university dormitory buildings in order to suggest foundational data for new and recycled energy use and management to plan and operate university dormitories afterwards. Thereby, this research gained the following findings. 1. The quantity of solar radiation and efficiency change in the BIPV system applied to the research subject buildings after the lapse of time was averagely 8.7%, and it is thought that temperature increase determines conversion efficiency with the influence of surrounding outside temperature and the module's temperature. 2. The generation efficiency of the BIPV system in the research subject buildings was averagely 10.9%. In May, it was 13.9%, and in January, it was the lowest as 10.25%. Considering the fact that power consumption reduces during an intermediate period, it will be necessary to establish measures for equipment and power consumption load balancing. 3. The monthly load rate of the BIPV system was averagely 4.09%. In May, it was the highest as 4.94%, and in July, it was the lowest as 3.24%. 4. It is intended to conduct constant follow-up research on estimating university dormitory building's power consumption unit cost and examining the generation efficiency and load rate of the BIPV system.

  • The efficiency of building-integrated photovoltaic(BIPV) system is mainly determined by solar radiation and the temperature of PV modules. The performance of BIPV systems is reported to be different from that of conventional PV systems installed in the open-air. This paper presents the relationship of solar radiation and electricity generation from a 2kWp roof-integrated PV system that is applied as building elements on an experimental house, and the energy saving effect of the BIPV system for a typical house. For the performance evaluation of the BIPV system, it produced a regression equation with measured data for winter days. The regression equation showed that a comparison of the measured electricity generation and the predicted electricity generation of the BIPV system were meaningful. It showed that an annual electricity generation of the system appeared to cover around 52% of an annual electricity consumption of a typical domestic house with the floor area of $96m^2$.
