건설정보 분류체계의 BIM 도입을 위한 개선방안 (Improvement of Construction Information Classification for Applying BIM)

  • 표준화 된 건설정보 분류체계는 건설 산업에서 발생하는 다양한 정보를 체계적으로 관리할 수 있는 기반으로써, 정보표현의 통일성을 통해 효율적이고 명확한 건설정보 공유 및 교류를 가능하게 한다. 최근 북미 및 유럽의 건설정보 분류체계는 활용도 향상 및 정보화 도구와의 연계를 목적으로 BIM 분야의 분류체계 도입을 위한 개선이 이루어지고 있으며 다양한 BIM 분야의 시범 적용 과정을 거치고 있다. 국내의 경우, 정부에서 국내 실정에 맞는 건설정보 분류체계를 구축하고 표준화하는 노력을 하였지만 이에 대한 활용비중이 낮으며 최근 대두되고 있는 BIM의 대응을 고려한 개선책이 아직 확정되어 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 국내 건설정보 분류체계의 건설 환경 변화에 대한 대응과 활용성 제고를 목적으로 국내 건설정보 분류체계의 BIM 도입을 위한 개선방안을 제시하고자 한다.

READINESS OF NIGERIAN BUILDING DESIGN FIRMS TO ADOPT BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING (BIM) TECHNOLOGIES

  • Building Information Modelling (BIM) has become the new international benchmark for efficiency in design, construction and maintenance of buildings. It is the platform that brings about collaboration between project stakeholders and improvement of project outcomes. With all its potentials, not much of the impact of BIM technologies has been felt in the Nigerian construction industry. This research aimed at assessing the readiness of the Nigerian building design firms to adopt BIM technologies. The research was exploratory in nature. A field survey was conducted with the use of structured questionnaire, self administered to a sample of building design consultancy firms (architectural, structural, M&E, quantity surveying, and multi-disciplinary design firms) within Abuja and Kaduna. The questionnaire sought the perception of the responding firms on the factors affecting BIM adoption in the Nigerian construction industry, and their level of readiness to adopt BIM technologies in their practices based on the four categories of readiness-management, people, process and technology. 42.26% response rate was achieved and used for analysis. ANOVA and DUNCAN post-hoc tests were used to establish the differences between the responses of the groups of firms, while means and standard deviations were obtained to establish the important factors affecting BIM adoption in Nigeria. The survey revealed that all the groups of Nigerian design firms are appreciably ready for the adoption of BIM technologies in their practice, with slight variations in their respective levels of readiness. 'Lack of awareness of BIM technology among professionals' and clients and 'lack of knowledgeable and experienced partners' were identified as the most important barriers of BIM adoption in Nigeria; while the most significant drivers are 'availability of well trained professionals' and 'cooperation and commitment of professional bodies to the adoption'. Education and training of building design professionals and cooperation of all stakeholders in the design and construction supply chain were recommended as part of measures to ensure successful adoption of BIM in the Nigerian construction industry.

BIM-based Lift Planning Workflow for On-site Assembly in Modular Construction Projects

  • The assembly of modular construction requires a series of thoroughly-considered decisions for crane lifting including the crane model selection, crane location planning, and lift path planning. Traditionally, this decision-making process is empirical and time-consuming, requiring significant human inputs. Recently, research efforts have been dedicated to improving lift planning practices by leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as automated data acquisition, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and computational algorithms. It has been demonstrated that these technologies have advanced lift planning to some degree. However, the advancements tend to be fragmented and isolated. There are two hurdles prevented a systematic improvement of lift planning practices. First, the lack of formalized lift planning workflow, outlining the procedure and necessary information. Secondly, there is also an absence of a shared information environment, enabling storages, updates and the distribution of information to stakeholders in a timely manner. Thus, this paper aims to overcome the hurdles. The study starts with a literature review in combination with document analysis, enabling the initial workflow and information flow. These were contextualised through a series of interviews with Australian practitioners in the crane-related industry, and systematically analysed and schematically validated through an expert panel. Findings included formalized workflow and corresponding information exchanges in a traditional lift planning practice via a Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN). The traditional practice is thus reviewed to identify opportunities for further enhancements. Finally, a BIM-based lift planning workflow is proposed, which integrates the scattered technologies (e.g. BIM and computational algorithms) with the aim of supporting lift planning automation. The resulting framework is setting out procedures that need to be developed and the potential obstacles towards automated lift planning are identified.

  • 현재 국내외 BIM을 도입한 사회기반시설 적용 사례는 BIM 시각화를 기반으로 하는 설계 및 시공단계에 제한되며 효율적 운영을 위한 설계, 시공 정보 활용 방안에 대한 연구는 매우 미미하다. 본 연구는 최근 국내 경제 발전에 많은 기여를 하고 있는 산업설비군 중 운영 및 유지관리 능력 향상이 필요한 하수처리시설을 대상으로 BIM 기반 통합 유지관리 프로토타입 시스템을 개발하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 주요 연구 방법으로는 시스템 개발 순서에 따라 진행하였으며, 최종적으로 개발된 프로토타입 시스템의 현업 적용 가능성을 판단하기 위하여 4가지의 대표적 유지관리 시나리오를 제안하고 산출물을 통해서 문제 해결이 가능함을 보여준다. 최근 상하수도시설의 자산관리 개념 도입 노력과 유역기반 운영 및 유지관리의 정책 및 제도 적 변화, 그리고 국내 상하수도 기술력의 해외시장 진출 필요에 따른 운영 및 유지관리 능력 고도화를 위해 본 연구결과가 일조할 수 있기를 기대해 본다.

BIM 기반 건축물 스마트 유지관리 지원 COBie 문서 프로토타입 (COBie Document Prototype for supporting BIM based Smart Maintenance of Buildings)

  • 효과적인 시설물 유지관리를 위해서는 유지보수공사 이력정보, 자재정보 등 다양한 유지관리 정보의 수집과 관리가 요구된다. 대형화, 복잡화 추세인 건축물들의 많아진 유지관리 업무량 해소를 위한 정보관리기술 및 시스템들의 도입에도 불구하고 유지관리정보들이 제대로 활용되지 않고 있다. 대안으로 BIM의 도입 및 활용 연구가 지속적으로 수행되고 있지만 설계단계에서 생성된 BIM 모델의 건축 유지관리 정보 미비로 인하여 실무에서 활용되지 못하고 있다. 본 연구는 건축물 관리자가 수행하는 BIM 기반의 스마트 유지관리 업무를 지원하기 위한 COBie 문서 프로토타입을 제안하였다. 다양한 유형의 유지관리 프로젝트 업무절차를 정형화하기 위해 BIM 기반 유지관리 기본 프로세스 모델을 점검업무와 유지보수업무로 구분하여 제시하고 단계별 유지관리 필요정보를 도출하였다. 설계단계에서 생성된 BIM 모델의 속성정보들 중 기본 프로세스 단계별 유지관리 필요정보에 해당하는 파라미터들을 도출하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 7개 스프레드시트로 구성된 COBie 문서 프로토타입을 제안하였다. 사례적용을 통해 유지관리 정보가 미포함된 KBIMS 라이브러리 기반의 설계단계 BIM 모델을 유지관리 단계에서 활용 가능한 것으로 확인하였다.

BIM기반의 공동주택 주동 유형별 건물에너지 시뮬레이션 비교에 관한 연구 (A Comparative Study of Building Energy Simulations for Building Types in Multiple Stock Housing based on BIM(Building Information Modeling))

  • The energy efficient design of the multiple stock housing is very important not only to save energy but also to increase sustainability in a whole city because the multiple stock housing type is dominated in the major residential supply markets in Korea. During the early design phase of the multiple stock housing type, the architect need convenient and accurate tools for evaluating energy consumptions based on building types rapidly. Building Information Modeling(BIM) is introduced as useful tool systems providing interoperability between 3rd dimensional modeling tools and environmental engineering analysis tools, and could reduce time and cost for unnecessary modeling works in the analysis. However, it is still hard to apply to building design practice and integrated energy simulation techniques because interoperability using industrial standard file formats such as IFC and bXML is still underdeveloped. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to perform the building energy simulations, to compare the results on typical building types in multiple stock housing based on BIM, and to clear the problems using industrial standard file formats between 3rd dimensional modeling and building energy simulation software. In addition, through comparisons with simulation results according to the typical building types such as building forms, orientations, and building stories, the interrelation ship and characteristics of BIM based building energy simulation software are analysed and evaluated.

A BIM-based Automated Framework for Formwork Planning on Construction Sites

  • Considering its significant impact on the cost and schedule of construction projects, formwork as one part of temporary facility categories in construction should be arranged precisely. Current practice in the formwork planning is often conducted manually and repetitively, causing low efficiency and time waste. This study proposes an automated framework to generate more accurate and detailed formwork plans by utilizing information from building information modeling (BIM) considering the adequate geometric and semantic information provided by the BIM model. The dimensions and quantities information of elements in a building can be extracted automatically. Then, a rule is prepared for calculating the required forms erected around elements based on the contact areas. Finally, an algorithm of integrating first fit decreasing (FFD) with coordinated bottom left (CBL) is applied to automatically generate the formwork plan. The BIM-based automated planning framework is demonstrated by an illustrative example. The results show that the proposed framework can generate the formwork plan accurately and automatically, and significantly improve the efficiency in the formwork plan and reuse.

BIM 모델 내 공간의 시멘틱 무결성 검증을 위한 그래프 기반 딥러닝 모델 구축에 관한 연구 (Development of Graph based Deep Learning methods for Enhancing the Semantic Integrity of Spaces in BIM Models)

  • BIM의 도입에 따라 공간이 개별 객체로 인식되면서 객체화된 공간의 속성정보는 법규검토, 에너지 분석, 피난 경로 분석 등을 위한 기반 데이터로 사용 가능하기에 BIM의 활용성을 넓힐 수 있는 발판을 마련하였다. 그러나 BIM 모델 내 개별 공간 속성의 오기입이나 누락이 없는 시멘틱 무결성(semantic integrity)이 보장되어야 하는데, 다수의 참여자에 의한 수작업으로 진행되는 BIM 모델링 과정 특성 상 설계 오류가 빈번히 발생한다는 문제점이 존재한다. 이를 해결하기 위해 BIM 모델의 공간 정합성 검증을 위한 연구가 다수 진행되었으나, 적용 범위가 한정적이거나 분류 정확도가 낮은 한계점이 존재하였다. 본 연구에서는 공간의 기하정보 뿐 아니라 BIM 모델 내 공간과 부재 간 연결 관계를 Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN) 학습과정에 활용하여 향상된 성능의 공간 자동 분류모델을 구축하고자 하였다. 구축된 GCN 기반 모델의 성능을 공간의 기하정보만으로 학습된 기계학습 모델인 Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP)과 비교하여 공간 분류 시 연결 관계 적용의 효용성을 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 관계정보 활용 시 약 8% 내외 수준으로 공간 분류 성능이 향상되는 것으로 확인되었다.

  • This paper presents an automated construction quality nonconformity control method. Existing quality control process are confined attributed to the dependence on human quality personnels. They are inefficiency for continuos quality improvements and may cause project schedule delays when any nonconformity is handled timely fashion. For sure, It is important to identify the add hoc quality nonconformity control processes and to implement them into an automated system that controls its' work-flow. It would be desirable to develop the construction project quality nonconformity control system using Building information modeling(BIM) and Information and Communications Technologies(ICT). It may provide an effective platform to prevent quality issues that exist in the existing quality management practice.

파라메트릭 디자인 방법론을 활용한 한옥 목구조부재의 BIM 설계 프로세스 연구 (A Study on the BIM-based Design for the Elements of Wooden Structure of Korean Traditional Buildings Through a Parametric Design Methodology)

  • With the rising social interest in the sustainable life, demands are growing for Hanok, as a viable alternative to modernized architecture of Western origin. However, even Hanok is gaining popularity among the general public, its design and construction are still a minor practice. Aiming to build an information system of Hanok, this research proposes a new design process for traditional architecture, utilizing a parametric design methodology. This process, based on the understanding of tectonic joints and spatial composition of our traditional architecture, defines a parametric relationship among the structural elements that compose Hanok. The research uses Gehry Technologies' Digital Project and Autodesk Revit Architecture to apply a concurrent parametric design methodology, approaching the project in both bottom-up and top-down to present a new design process for Hanok elements.
