시설물 유지관리를 위한 BIM데이터 전달의 문제점 (The problem of using BIM data for facility management)

  • Facility Management (FM) is a project phase to maintenance and to increase the qualities of product which is planned on the design phase and ensured on the construction phase. In addition, since the approximate time occupied in operation and maintenance phase is the longest from construction project as total approximate cost is about 85% of whole the project, it could be managed and realized primarily. The information of facility is not created on the specific point of project, but it might be created on the whole process of subject project widely. Thus, as the information could not be lost and it can be delivered into computer aided facility management system, it is necessary to manage the facility information. This paper proposed the necessities and the problems of BIM-based data interoperability on the Korean construction projects.

  • BIM could be used for integrating project information through life cycle of building facilities. Also it could improve the accuracy and work efficiency through data interoperability with other disciplines. However, these benefits from adopting BIM could not be attained easily in real project cases. In order to make the most use of BIM and get the maximum benefits from it, the environments such as standards, guidelines and the related technologies are also could be supported. Therefore many countries are developing or already developed the technology roadmap for BIM. In this study, we tried to analyze the BIM technology status and develop the strategy for improve usability of BIM in Korea.

개방형BIM기반의 건축공사 개산견적을 위한 물량산출 적용지침 활용방안 기초 연구 (A Basic Study on an Application of Quantity Take-Off Requirements for Open BIM-based Schematic Estimation of Architectural Work)

  • In recent years, numerous studies have attempted to extract quantity data by using Building Information Modeling (BIM). In terms of open-BIM based quantity take-off at the early design stage, only few studies were conducted in the field of cost engineering. A lack of compatibility of open BIM for information exchange is postulated as the cause. The Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) extension model has been developed to accommodate the interoperability with quantity take-off software. Improvement of open BIM for quantity take-off needs exchange requirements and model guidelines. For this purpose, the quantity data of IFC models were analyzed using BIM analysis tools. This paper also provides a proposal of requirements on open BIM based quantity take-off at the early design stage. Further this study have been develop the interface system for open BIM based quantity take-off requirements with the results on this study.

BIM 기반 국가건설기준 검토 수행을 위한 확장형 IFC 구조 개발 (Development of Extended IFC Schema for BIM-based Korean Construction Standards Review)

  • IFC, a neutral standard data model for BIM, ensures data interoperability across BIM applications but struggles with adapting to diverse construction standards across countries and regions. In practice, the standard IFC schema does not include the entity and attribute information necessary for reviewing Korean Construction Standards. To overcome this, this study developed an extended IFC schema that incorporates design and construction standards data specifically for bridge. The extended IFC schema defines entities for representing types of bridges, structures, and elements, and Psets for containing relevant standards information. This schema is customized to be compatible with both Korean Design Standards (KDS) and Korean Construction Specifications (KCS). Additionally, based on the extended IFC schema, a specialized extension module was developed, capable of embedding design and construction standards data by element within IFC Physical File. Through this module, the necessary design and construction standards were inserted into specific elements.

  • Recently, mandatory BIM design has been enforced in the civil engineering field, focusing on public projects, and inducement measures to actively participate in BIM by participating subjects are required. The BIM ordering documents must reflect the characteristics of the BIM project, current construction standards and laws, and environmental conditions of domestic participants. In this study, we analyze the ordering documents used in domestic and overseas civil engineering BIM projects to determine whether they meet the purpose of BIM. In the future, items that consider the existing heterogeneous data linkage and compatibility, the connectivity with the current construction guidelines and laws, the cost of the designer and the input personnel are prepared for the part that does not meet the BIM purpose. Furthermore, the written order documents are verified through interviews with experts who have experience in BIM projects. Through the results of this study, I would like to propose a consultation system strategy to prepare and present items according to the purpose and type of project by client.

  • 연구의 목적은 BIM과 다양한 이기종 솔류션 데이터 통합을 고려한 시설물 관리 시스템 아키텍처를 개발하는 것이다. 이기종 솔류션 데이터는 시설물 관리 시스템, 자산 관리 시스템, 시설물 센서 데이터베이스 시스템 뿐 아니라 모델러로 부터 생성된 파일이 될 수도 있다. 본 연구에서 이기종 솔류션 데이터 통합을 위한 고려사항을 도출하고 이를 구현하기 위해 ETL (Extract, Transform and Load)을 사용한 BIM기반 데이터 통합 방법을 제안한다. 이와 관련된 연구동향을 조사하고, BIM기반 이기종 솔류션 데이터 통합 지원 아키텍처 개발을 위한 유스케이스를 도출하였다. 이를 통해 BIM기반으로 시설물 객체와 관련된 데이터를 확인할 수 있도록 FM 데이터베이스 스키마를 개발하였다. 마지막으로 아키텍처 적용 가능성을 확인하기 위해 제안된 방법을 이용하여 프로토타입을 구현하였다.

딥러닝 기반 BIM 부재 자동분류 학습모델의 성능 향상을 위한 Ensemble 모델 구축에 관한 연구 (Advanced Approach for Performance Improvement of Deep Learningbased BIM Elements Classification Model Using Ensemble Model)

  • To increase the usability of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in construction projects, it is critical to ensure the interoperability of data between heterogeneous BIM software. The Industry Foundation Classes (IFC), an international ISO format, has been established for this purpose, but due to its structural complexity, geometric information and properties are not always transmitted correctly. Recently, deep learning approaches have been used to learn the shapes of the BIM elements and thereby verify the mapping between BIM elements and IFC entities. These models performed well for elements with distinct shapes but were limited when their shapes were highly similar. This study proposed a method to improve the performance of the element type classification by using an Ensemble model that leverages not only shapes characteristics but also the relational information between individual BIM elements. The accuracy of the Ensemble model, which merges MVCNN and MLP, was improved 0.03 compared to the existing deep learning model that only learned shape information.

BIM기반의 브레이스 접합부의 구조설계 인터페이스 모듈 개발 (Interface Module Developement of Structural Design for Brace Connections on based BIM)

  • 본 연구는 강구조물의 실시설계 단계에서 브레이스 접합부의 구조설계 및 BIM 모델링의 효율성을 제고하기 위한 것으로 브레이스 접합부의 구조설계 인터페이스 모듈 개발을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 국내 외의 구조설계기준을 분석하여 알고리즘을 작성하고 이를 바탕으로 구조설계모듈을 구축하였다. 또한 BIM 설계 도구와 연동하여 모델 데이터로부터 구조설계를 수행하기 위한 입 출력 데이터를 자동으로 생성하며, 구조설계 결과로부터 BIM 모델을 자동으로 생성할 수 있는 인터페이스 모듈을 개발하였다. 예제 모델을 통해 개발된 모듈의 효율성과 실용성을 검증하였다.

  • 최근 건설정보가 CAD에서 BIM으로 전환되고 있으며, GIS 분야는 기존 실외공간에서 실내공간으로 확장되고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 건설정보를 GIS와 연계하여 계획 설계 시공의 건설단계는 물론 건설 후 유지관리 및 운영 서비스 단계에서 지속적으로 활용할 필요성이 커지고 있다. 이를 위하여 건설정보와 공간정보의 유기적 결합을 통한 BIM-GIS 상호운용 플랫폼을 구축함에 있어 대용량 3차원 공간객체의 효율적 표현은 필수적인 요소이다. 본 연구에서는 대용량 공간객체를 표현함에 있어 각 레벨별 공간객체와 이에 따르는 텍스처를 효과적으로 생성할 수 있도록 BIM 데이터와 GIS 공간 데이터의 연계활용을 위한 공간데이터 LOD를 설계하고 이를 기반으로 기존의 대용량 공간객체를 경량화할 수 있는 알고리즘을 개발하였다.

An Analytical Appraisal of Building Information Modelling (BIM) Guidelines to Identify Variations in the Procedures

  • The usage of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in building projects has enabled improvement in project planning, implementation and collaboration process amongst various stakeholders within architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. However, variations exist in the current practices of BIM implementation and coordination process in the industry. These variations result in inconsistent degree of BIM use across the construction industry. This inconsistency gives rise to several managerial and technological challenges such as data interoperability issues and purposeful integration and exchange of information within the BIM components. In order to tackle the issue, it is essential to analyse the different BIM approaches employed by the industry practitioners. BIM guidelines serve as a critical link between the BIM model, and its subsequent execution. They therefore provide the best reflection of BIM application and processes. This research paper aims to address the variations existing in BIM practices across the construction industry. It includes an extensive study of 21 existing, publicly available BIM-based guidelines in order to establish an understanding of the present state of practice and deduce issues and concerns related to them. All guidelines analysed in this paper are first categorised based on authorship and the release date for efficient comparison. The points of similarity and difference between them are thereby realized and outlined. In addition, the transition of project implementation process from traditional methods to BIM technology is also explained. The existence of inconsistencies in the BIM guidelines reviewed in this paper reflects the need of a BIM 'Code Compliance Check'. The Code Compliance Check will serve as a regulatory project guideline that will further improve the potential of BIM by incorporating a consistent BIM modelling methodology for the entire construction industry.
