An ARX(Auto-Regressive eXogenous) modeling technique for vortex dynamics in the BFS(Backward Facing Step) flow field is proposed in this paper. In order for the modeling of the dynamics, the spatial and temporal modes are extracted through POD(Proper Orthogonal Decomposition) analysis. Determining the orders of the inputs and outputs for an ARX structure is carried out by the spectrum analysis and temporal mode analysis, respectively. The order of input delay terms is also determined by the flow velocity. Finally the coefficients of the ARX model are designed by using an artificial neural network.

The purpose of this paper is to propose an experimental method to evaluate the resistance of abrasion about 24 MPa, 27 MPa, and 30 MPa compressive strength. These strength are used in the design and construction of concrete hydraulic structures in Korea. The mixing ratios of the ready mixed concrete strengths were investigated countrywide and set the representative mixture proportion ratios of the nine mixed types of OPC, FA and BFS. After making and curing the test specimens, the underwater abrasion test was performed. ASTM C 1138 International Standard was used to fabricate the test equipment, and the surface abrasion resistance of the specimen was tested using the test equipment. In the case of OPC, the 30% abrasion resistance improvement effect was observed at 72 hours as the water-binder ratio decreased. That was reason the coated cement bond strength of the specimen was strong. In the case of BFS and FA, it was improved by 9.9% and 3.8%, respectively, at 72 hours as the water-binder ratio decreased. It was due to the characteristics of the latent hydraulic and pozzolanic reactions. Generally, the relative abrasion resistance of concrete can be evaluated at 24 hours. However, in case of low strength (under 24 MPa), the surface mortar layer wears much faster at the first 12 hours, so it can be considered to evaluate the relative abrasion loss rate at this point.

Given a video stream delivering system deployed on a multicast tree, which is embedded in a multi-channel multi-radio wireless mesh network, our problem is concerned about how to allocate interference-free channels to tree links and maximize the number of serviced mesh clients at the same time. In this paper, we propose a channel allocation heuristic algorithm based on best-first search and backtracking techniques. The experimental results show that our BFB based CA algorithm outperforms previous methods such as DFS and BFS based CA methods. This superiority is due to the backtracking technique used in BFB approach. It allows previous channel-allocated links to have feasibility to select the other eligible channels when no conflict-free channel can be found for the current link during the CA process. In addition to that, we also propose a tree refinement method to enhance the quality of channel-allocated trees by adding uncovered destinations at the cost of deletion of some covered destinations. Our aim of this refinement is to increase the number of serviced mesh clients. According to our simulation results, it is proved to be an effective method for improving multicast trees produced by BFB, BFS and DFS CA algorithms.
This investigation was designed to estimate the biaxial flexure strength and fracture toughness of lithium disilicate glass-ceramics of IPS Empress 2 system pressed with as-received ingots and their sprue buttons. Two groups of the lithium disilicate glass-ceramics were prepared as follows: group 1 is ingot-pressed group; group 2 is sprue button-pressed group. A ball-on-three-ball test was used to determine biaxial flexure strength (BFS) of disks in wet environment. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) analysis was conducted to observe the microstructure of the ceramics. Unpaired t-test showed that there were no differences in the mean biaxial Hem strength (BFS) and KIC values between group 1 and 2 (p > 0.05). Two groups showed similar values in the KIC and the strength at 5% failure probability. The SEM micrographs of the IPS Empress 2 glass-ceramic showed a closely packed, multi-directionally interlocking pattern of numerous lithium disilicate crystals protruding from the glass matrix. The lithium orthophosphate crystals could not be observed on the fracture surface etched. There was no a marked difference of the microstructure between group 1 and 2. Although there were no tests including color stability, casting accuracy, etc., the results of this study implied that we could reuse the sprue button of the pressed lithium disilicate glass-ceramic of IPS Empress 2 system.

In this study, the effects of water-to-binder (W/B) ratio and replacement ratio of blast furnace slag (BFS) on the compressive strength of concrete were first investigated to determine an optimized mixture. Then, using the optimized high-strength concrete (HSC) mixture, hooked steel fibers with various aspect ratios and volume fractions were used as additives and the resulting mechanical properties under compression and flexure were evaluated. Test results indicated that replacement ratios of BFS from 50 to 60% were optimal in maximizing the compressive strength of steam-cured HSCs with various W/B ratios. The use of hooked steel fibers with the aspect ratio of 80 led to better mechanical performance under both compression and flexure than those with the aspect ratio of 65. By increasing the fiber aspect ratio from 65 to 80, the hooked steel fiber volume content could be reduced by 0.25% without any significant deterioration of energy absorption capacity. Lastly, complete material models of steel-fiber-reinforced HSCs were proposed for structural design from Lee's model and the RILEM TC 162-TDF recommendations.

The purpose of this study is to provide fundamental data on chloride diffusion from lightweight aggregate concrete by utilizing crushed stone-powder. Accordingly, the study performed experiments using concrete aggregates of Crushed Aggregate (CG), Single-sized Lightweight Aggregate (SLG), Continuous Graded Lightweight Aggregate (CLG), and using water-binder ratio of 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, and using binder of FA and BFS. The chloride diffusion coefficient is calculated after experiment based on NT BUILD 492. Diffusion coefficient of SLG and CLG were little bit higher than CG Concrete, but the difference is meaningless. Also, chloride diffusion coefficient indicates that it is highly affected by water-binder ratio, and it decreases with the decrease in water-binder ratio. The admixture substitution indicates decrease only with water-binder ratio of 0.4 for FA15% case, but admixture substitution indicates decrease with all levels of ratio for FA10 + BFS20% which means more appropriate. According to the analysis result of chloride diffusion from lightweight aggregate concrete, crushed stone-powder utilized lightweight aggregate concrete indicates higher chloride diffusion coefficient than CG concrete, which is not a significant difference, and can improve resistance through water-binder ratio and admixture substitution.
This study aims the evaluation of the corrosion of steel bar embedded in antiwashout underwater concrete, which has rather been neglected to date. To that goal, accelerated steel bar corrosion tests have been performed on three series of steel bar-reinforced antiwashout underwater concrete specimens manufactured with different admixtures. The three series of antiwashout underwater concrete were: concrete constituted exclusively with ordinary portland cement (OPC), concrete composed of ordinary portland cement mixed with fly-ash in $20\%$ ratio (FA20), and concrete with ground granulated blast furnace slag mixed in $50\%$ ratio (BFS50). The environment of manufacture was in artificial seawater. Measurement results using half-cell potential surveyor showed that, among all the specimens, steel bar in OPC was the first one that exceeded the threshold value proposed by ASTM C 876 with a potential value below -350mv after 14 cycles. And, the corresponding corrosion current density and concentration of water soluble chloride were measured as $30{\mu}A/mm^2$ and $0.258\%$. On the other hand, for the other specimens that are FA20 and BFS50, potential values below -350mV were observed later at 18 and 20 cycles, respectively. Results confirmed the hypothesis that mineral admixtures may be more effective on delay the development of steel bar corrosion in antiwashout underwater concrete.

As buildings have become higher and larger, the use of high performance concrete has increased. With this increase, interest in and use of ultra fine powder admixture is also on the rise. The silica fume and BSF are the admixtures currently being used in Korea. However, silica fume is exclusively import dependent because it is not produced in Korea. In the case of BFS, it greatly improves concrete fluidity and long-term strength. But a problem exists in securing early strength. Furthermore, air-cooled slag is being discarded, buried in landfills, or used as road bed materials because of its low activation energy. Therefore, we investigated in this study the usability of nano-slag (both rapidly-chilled and air-cooled) as an alternative material to the silica fume. We conducted a physic-chemical analysis for the nano-slag powder and performed a mortar test to propose quality standards. The analysis and testing were done to find out the industrial usefulness of the BFS that has been grinded to the nano-level.

In this paper, to expand the use of standalone street lights, an algorithm for controlling LED energy consumption was proposed. The proposed method uses an LED module of a standalone street light divided into n zones. This is a method of reducing total power consumption by preventing the increase in power consumption due to high heat generation by weakly operating the entire LED according to the illuminance. When the amount of sunlight decreases, the whole LED operates weakly and then brightens, and unlike streetlight that act as streetlight, a method of dividing LEDs by area and limiting the number of LEDs operating according to illumination intensity was proposed. This is a way to use a lot of time with limited battery capacity by reducing the generation of heat that consumes the most power in streetlight. It is also a method of continuously changing the initial usage area to improve the total usage time of the LED substrate. As a result of the experiment, it was found that the proposed method extends the service time because it generates less heat than the conventional stand-alone streetlight.
Recently, the demand has increased for protective clothing materials capable of shielding the wearer from bullets, fragment bullets, knives, and swords. It is therefore necessary to develop light and soft protective clothing materials with excellent wearability and mobility. To this end, research is being conducted on hybrid design methods for various highly functional materials, such as carbon nanotube (CNT) sheets, which are well known for their low weight and excellent strength. In this study, a hybrid protective material using CNT sheets was developed and its performance was evaluated. The material design incorporated a bonding method that used a binder for interlayer combination between the CNT sheets. Four types of binders were selected according to their characteristics and impregnated within CNT sheets, followed by further combination with aramid fabric to produce the hybrid protective material. After applying the binder, the tensile strength increased significantly, especially with the phenoxy binder, which has rigid characteristics. However, as the molecular weight of the phenoxy binder increased, the adhesive force and strength decreased. On the other hand, when a 25% lightweight-design and high-molecular-weight phenoxy binder were applied, the backface signature (BFS) decreased by 6.2 mm. When the CNT sheet was placed in the middle of the aramid fabric, the BFS was the lowest. In a stab resistance test, the penetration depth was the largest when the CNT sheet was in the middle layer. As the binder was applied, the stab resistance improvement against the P1 blade was most effective.
