A STUDY ON THE RANGE OF MANDIBULAR MOVEMENT OF NORMAL AND CLASS III MALOCCLUSION CHILDREN (정상교합과 III급 부정교합아동의 하악운동 범위에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to obtain the normal range of mandibular movement for 13 year old boys and girls, and to compare it to the range of mandibular movement of class III patient and normal adult for diagnosis and prognosis of class III malocclusion and TMJ dysfunction. The subjects were 20 normal boys 20 normal girls 22 class III boys and 18 class III girls. The author measured the ranges and shapes of movement of the mandible in the frontal, sagittal and horizontal trajectories using Saphon visitrainer C II (Tokyo Shizaisha Inc.) for the subjects. The results obtained are as follows: 1) The mean for maximum right laterotrusion in the frontal trajectory were 11.96mm in N.B., 11.10mm in N.G., 11.32mm in III. B., 11.24mm in III G. The mean for maximum left laterotrusion were 11.48mm, 11.0mm, 10.91mm, 10.44mm respectively, Area of border movement were 7.16cm in N.B., 6.59cm in N.G., 7.29cm in III. B., 7.50cm in III. G. 2) The mean for maximum protrusion in the sagittal trajectory were 11.7mm in N.B., 11.4mm in N.G.,11.87mm in III B., and 11.02mm in III. G. 3) The mean for maximum protrusion in the horizontal trajectory were 10.20mm in N.B.,10.00 mm in N.G., 9.12mm for III. B. and 9.36mm in III. G. 4) The mean for maximum protrusion of Class III subjects were shorter than those of normal subjects. 5) There was no sexual difference in the range of mandibular movement for 13 year old subjects. Hybrid Capture 2 Assay Based Evaluation of High-Risk HPV Status in Healthy Women of North-East India

  • Background: High risk HPV (HR-HPV) testing has been recommended as an effective tool along with cytology screening in identification of cervical intraepithelial lesions (CINs) and prevention of their progress towards invasive cervical cancer. The aim of this study was to assess the HR-HPV DNA status by Hybrid Capture 2 (HC2) assay in healthy asymptomatic women of North-East India. Materials and Methods: This study examined cervical cell samples of forty three (n=43) healthy women by HC2 assay. A High Risk HPV DNA kit (Qiagen) was used which can detect 13 high risk HPV types: 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59 and 68. Results: The mean relative light units (RLU) for samples was in the range of 141-5, 94, 619. HR-HPV DNA was confirmed in 16% (7/43) of participant women samples. Among demographic and clinical parameters, menstrual irregularity (p=0.039) and infection history (p=0.028) has shown statistically significant differences between the HR-HPV-positive and negative groups. In the HR-HPV positive group, two women were confirmed for CINs after colposcopy and histopathologic examination. Conclusions: We suggest that there may be an association between irregular menstruation and infection history of the urogenital tract with HR-HPV DNA prevalence in North-East Indian asymptomatic women. HC2 assay can be a valuable tool for HR-HPV screening.

  • This work describes a l0b 150 MSample/s CMOS pipelined A/D converter (ADC) based on advanced bootsuapping techniques for higher input bandwidth than a sampling rate. The proposed ADC adopts a typical multi-step pipelined architecture, employs the merged-capacitor switching technique which improves sampling rate and resolution reducing by $50\%$ the number of unit capacitors used in the multiplying digital-to-analog converter. On-chip current and voltage references for high-speed driving capability of R & C loads and on-chip decimator circuits for high-speed testability are implemented with on-chip decoupling capacitors. The proposed AU is fabricated in a 0.18 um 1P6M CMOS technology. The measured differential and integral nonlinearities are within $-0.56{\~}+0.69$ LSB and $-1.50{\~}+0.68$ LSB, respectively. The prototype ADC shows the signal-to-noise-and-distortion ratio (SNDR) of 52 dB at 150 MSample/s. The active chip area is 2.2 mm2 (= 1.4 mm ${\times}$ 1.6 mm) and the chip consumes 123 mW at 150 MSample/s.

Design of a Inverter-Based 3rd Order ΔΣ Modulator Using 1.5bit Comparators (1.5비트 비교기를 이용한 인버터 기반 3차 델타-시그마 변조기)

  • This paper describes the third order feedforward delta-sigma modulator with inverter-based integrators and a 1.5bit comparator for the application of audio signal processing. The proposed 3rd-order delta-sigma modulator is multi-bit structure using 1.5 bit comparator instead of operational amplifier. This delta-sigma modulator has high SNR compared with single-bit 4th-order delta-sigma modulator in a low OSR. And it minimizes power consumes and simplified circuit structure using inverter-based integrator and using inverter-based integrator as analogue adder. The modulator was designed with 0.18um CMOS standard process and total chip area is $0.36mm^2$. The measured power cosumption is 28.8uW in a 0.8V analog supply and 66.6uW in a 1.8V digital supply. The measurement result shows that the peak SNDR of 80.7 dB, the ENOB of 13.1bit and the dynamic range of 86.1 dB with an input signal frequency of 2.5kHz, a sampling frequency of 2.56MHz and an oversampling rate of 64. The FOM (Walden) from the measurement result is 269 fJ/step, FOM (Schreier) was calculated as 169.3 dB.

Properties of Meju Fermented with Multiple Starters (복합종균을 접종하여 발효한 메주의 특성)

  • A test meju (meju 1) was prepared by inoculating two strains of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (EMD17, MJ1-4), Pichia farinosa SY80, and Rhizopus oryzae into cooked soybeans. A control (meju 2) was prepared by inoculating Bacillus subtilis KACC16450 and Aspergillus oryzae. Another control (meju 3) was prepared using rice straw as the source of microorganisms. Three different mejus were fermented for 56 days outdoors. Meju 1 and meju 2 showed higher pH values than meju 3, whereas meju 3 showed higher titratable acidity than meju 1 and meju 2. Meju 1 showed the highest fibrinolytic activity. Bacillus cereus was not detected in any mejus, but various microorganisms were detected in meju 2 and 3. Histamine was detected in meju 2 and tyramine in meju 3 at lower concentration, which were not detected in meju 1. It was concluded that microbially safe, fermented soybean products could be produced from meju fermented with starters such as B. amyloliquefaciens EMD17 and B. amyloliquefaciens MJ1-4.

Determination of Phenolic Compounds in Adzuki bean (Vigna angularis) Germplasm

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate 30 phenolic compounds in adzuki bean germplasm. Adzuki 21653 had the highest content of total phenolics compounds ($6597\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$) while 104372 had the lowest concentration. The average total phenolic content of Japanese ($2432\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$) adzuki beans was higher than that of Korean ($2256\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$) adzuki beans. The average total phenolic contents were $2507\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ in small sized adzuki beans from Japan and $2459\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ in those from Korea. In large sized adzuki beans, the average total phenolic contents were $1315\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ in Japanese seeds and $1232\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ in Korean seeds. The average total phenolic contents in medium seeds were $2369\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ in Japanese adzuki beans and $1397\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ in Korean ones. In small seeds, the total phenolic contents of adzuki beans varied from $524\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ to $6597\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ in Japanese ones and from $375\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ to $6569\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ in Korean ones. Japanese and Korean adzuki beans were divided into landraces and wild adzuki beans. In this study, the wild adzuki beans showed higher contents of total phenolics than the native varieties. Specifically, the wild adzuki beans from Korea had the highest concentration of phenolics ($3403\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$). All adzuki bean germplasms were measured for their color and were classified into four groups accordingly: A; L < 30, +a, +b; B; L < 30, +a, -b, C; L > 50, +a, +b, D; L > 50, +a, -b. Especially, group B had the highest concentration of total phenolic compounds ($2827\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$), whereas group C had the lowest concentration ($1882\;{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$).

A Study on Preference to Korean Spicy Fish Soups by Questionnaire Methods in Busan and Development of a Standardized Recipe (부산지역 생선횟집을 중심으로 생선 매운탕 소비실태 및 최적 조리법 확립)

  • A study on sliced raw fish consumption was conducted on 300 citizens of Busan (89 men and 192 women), attending high school and university, housekeepers and employees. A self-administered questionnaire was used to record the results. The results were as follows: 93 percent of the respondents appeared to like or not be reluctant to eating Maeun-Tang. Most of the panelists had eaten at a seafood restaurant. The taste of Maeun-Tang varied differently by the spicy fish soup recipe. 56 percent of the respondents appeared to want this dish to have a fiery taste. Therefore, 89 percent of the respondents appeared to desire Maun-Tang to have a standardized recipe. The qualities of four kinds of stock made of water (A recipe), anchovy added with sea tangle (B recipe), fish bone (C recipe) and vegetable (D recipe) were investigated by using sensory evaluation and instrumental analysis for amino acids and nucleotides. The C recipe score was 80.9${\pm}$15.9 and D, B recipe was $75.7{\pm}17.1$, $75.4{\pm}17.2$, respectively. The A recipe score was $61.8{\pm}22.8$. The Degree of smooth taste were D recipe >A recipe >B recipe>C recipe. The Degree of spicy taste were C recipe >B recipe >D recipe>A recipe. In sensory evaluation, the C recipe obtained the highest score for overall preference. However, no difference of extractive nitrogen content, nucleotide and amino acid contest were observed in the C recipe after cook of Maeun-Tang.

Development of Antagonistic Microorganism for Biological Control of Pythium Blight of Turfgrass (잔디 피시움마름병(Pythium blight)의 생물학적 방제를 위한 길항 미생물의 선발과 효력 검정)

  • Pythium blight caused by Pythium spp. is one of major diseases in putting green of golf course. In this study, microorganisms which are anatgonistic to Pythium aphanidermatum, a pathogen of pythium blight, were selected primary through in vitro tests, dual culture method and triple layer agar diffusion method. In vivo test against pythium blight were conducted to select the best candidate biocontrol microorganism by pot experiment in a plastic house. Bacillus subtilis GB-0365 was finally selected as a biocontrol agent against pythium blight. Relative Performance Indies(RPI) was used as a criterion of selecting potential biocontrol agent. B. subtilis GB-0365 showed resistance to major synthetic agrochemicals used in golf course. Alternative application of synthetic agrochemicals and B. subtilis GB-0365 was most effective to successfully contol pythium blight. B. subtilis GB-0365 suppressed the development of pythium bight of bentgrass by 56.4% as compared to non-treated control and its disease control efficacy was 60.9% of a synthetic fungicide Oxapro(WP) efficacy. B. subtilis GB-0365 has a potential to be a biocontrol agent for control of pythium blight.

TV White Space Low-noise and High-Linear RF Front-end Receiver (텔레비전 유휴 주파수 대역을 지원하는 저잡음 및 고선형 특성의 RF 수신기 설계)

  • This paper has proposed a low-noise and high-linear RF receiver supporting TV white space from 470 MHz to 698 MHz), which is implemented in $0.13-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. It consists of a low-noise amplifier, a RF band-pass filter, a RF amplifier, a passive down-conversion mixer, and a channel-selection low-pass filter. A low-noise amplifier and RF amplifier provide a high voltage gain to improve the sensitivity level. To suppress strong and nearby interferers, two RF filtering schemes have been performed by using a RF BPF and a down-conversion mixer. The proposed LPF has been based on the common-gate topology and adopted a bi-quad cell to achieve -24dB/oct characteristics. In addition, the RF receiver can support the overall TV band by controlling a LO frequency. The simulated results show a voltage gain of 56 dB, a noise figure of less than 2 dB, and an out-of-channel IIP3 of -2.3 dBm. It consumes 37 mA from a 1.5 V supply voltage.

Chemical Components of Red, White and Extruded Root Ginseng (홍삼 . 백삼 및 압출성형 건조수삼의 성분특성)

  • The objective of this study is to compare the chemical properties of red ginseng, white ginseng, and extruded ginseng. Six kinds of samples were prepared and examined their chemical components. The comparison among crude ash, crude lipid, and total sugar resulted insignificant difference. White ginseng had lower content of reducing sugar than those of extruded ginseng and red ginseng. Total amino acid was found relatively low in treatment A (sliced whole root and dried at 7$0^{\circ}C$). Total amino acid of treatment C (extruded dry whole root ginseng slices, moisture content 30%, barrel temperature 11$0^{\circ}C$, and screw speed 200 rpm) was higher than that of treatment B (extruded dry whole root slices, moisture content 25%, barrel temperature 11$0^{\circ}C$, and screw speed 200 rpm). Crude saponin of treatments A, B, C, D (white ginseng with skin), E (skinless white ginseng), and F (red ginseng) were 4.02, 4.77, 4.12, 3.56, 3.25, and 4.02%, respectively. Ginsenoside was contained similarly as crude saponin. The amount of ginsenoside in the treatment of A, B, C, D, E, and F was recorded respectively at 6.031, 8.108, 6.876, 7.978, 5.591, and 9.834 mg/g. A specific component in red ginseng, $R_{g3}$ was detected in treatment F. Maltol was detected in treatment Band F. Acidic polysaccharide was increased 2∼3% by extrusion process. In conclusion, extruded ginseng had similar components to those of red ginseng.
