Photocatalytic Degradation Characteristics of Organic Compound by Boron-doped TiO2 Catalysts

  • Boron-doped $TiO_2$ photocatalysts were synthesized by a modified sol-gel method and their photocatalytic activities were performed and compared with those of pure synthetic and commercial $TiO_2$ catalysts under UV or visible light conditions. Pure $TiO_2$ itself exhibited very negligible photocatalytic performance under visible light conditions in the aspects of toluene decomposition reactions, although significant decomposition potential was observed as expected with UV light conditions. However, boron doping over $TiO_2$ significantly improved photocatalytic activity particularly under visible conditions, where over 95% degradation of toluene was achieved with 1wt% $B-TiO_2$ within 2 hrs. All the decomposition reactions seemed to follow pseudo first-order kinetics. The effects of boron-doping and its characteristics are further discussed through the kinetic studies and comparison of results.

  • We successfully fabricated C-doped ex-situ $MgB_2$ wires using two different methods such as mechanical alloying(MA) and combined process(CP) of in-situ and ex-situ. In the MA, the precursor powder was prepared with a mixture of $MgB_2$ and 1 at% C powders by planetary ball milling for 0-100 h. In the CP, on the other hand, C-doped $MgB_2$ powder was prepared with Mg, B, and C powders by in-situ process via compaction, sintering, and crushing. The powders prepared by two methods were loaded into Fe tube and then the assemblages were drawn by a conventional powder-in-tube technique. The MA treatment of C-added $MgB_2$ decreased the particles/grains size and resulted in C-doping into $MgB_2$ after sintering, improving the critical current density($J_c$) in high external magnetic field. For the C-doped $MgB_2$ wire by MA for 25 h, the $J_c$ was $4.1{\times}10^3A/cm^2$ at 5 K and 6.4 T, which was 5.9 times higher than that of pure and untreated $MgB_2$ wire. The CP also provided C-doping into $MgB_2$ and improved the $J_c$ in high magnetic field; the C-doped $MgB_2$ wire fabricated by CP exhibited a $J_c$ being 2.3 times higher than that of the ex-situ wire used commercial $MgB_2$ powder at 5 K and 6.0 T($2.7{\times}10^3A/cm^2\;vs.\;1.2{\times}10^3A/cm^2$).

Boron Oxide Flux를 이용한 YNbO$_4$ : Bi 청색 형광체의 제조 및 발광 특성 (Preparation and Luminescent Properties of YNbO$_4$ : Bi Phosphors by Flux Technique with B$_2$O$_3$)

  • 기존의 고상 반응법에 의해 합성된 YNbO4 : Bi 형광체의 발광특성을 개선하기 위하여 B2O3 융체 첨가법으로 형광체를 합성하고, 빛발광(PL) 및 저전압 음극선발광(CL)을 측정하였다. PL 및 CL 모두 415~440 nm 영역에서 강한 청색 발광 스펙트럼을 나타냈으며, 고상 반응의 경우와 마찬가지로 Y/Nb 비율이 화학 양론상의 1:1인 경우보다 결함구조를 인위적으로 조절한 51/49나 54/46에서 최대의 발광강도를 보였다. 한편, 고상 반응에서는 125$0^{\circ}C$에서 4시간 열처리하는 것이 최대의 발광효과를 나타냈으나, B2O3융제를 첨가하고 110$0^{\circ}C$에서 열처리한 시료가 결정성이 좋고 입자의 크기 및 형태가 균일하여 PL뿐만 아니라 CL에서도 우수한 발광특성을 보였다. B2O3융제를 첨가하는 방법으로 열처리 온도를 낮추고 입자크기와 형태를 조절하여 형광체의 휘도를 개선할 수 있었다.

고주파 진공유도로로 제작한 p형 SiGe 합금의 열전변환물성 (The Thermoelectric Properties of p-type SiGe Alloys Prepared by RF Induction Furnace)

  • Thermoelectric properties of p-type SiGe alloys prepared by a RF inductive furnace were investigated. Non-doped Si80Ge20 alloys were fabricated by control of the quantity of volatile Ge. The carrier of p-type SiGe alloy was controlled by B-doping. B doped p-type SiGe alloys were synthesized by melting the mixture of Ge and Si containing B. The effects of sintering/annealing conditions and compaction pressure on thermoelectric properties (electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient) were investigated. For nondoped SiGe alloys, electrical conductivity increased with increasing temperatures and Seebeck coefficient was measured negative showing a typical n-type semiconductivity. On the other hand, B-doped SiGe alloys exhibited positive Seebeck coefficient and their electrical conductivity decreased with increasing temperatures. Thermoelectric properties were more sensitive to compaction pressure than annealing time. The highest power factor obtained in this work was 8.89${\times}$10-6J/cm$.$K2$.$s for 1 at% B-doped SiGe alloy.

Effects of Ga doping on the superconducting properties of (B1-xGax) (Ba1.25Sr0.75)(Ca0.5Er0.5)Cu2Oz

  • We have investigated the behavior induced by Ga substitution in B-1212 system and observed an anomalous superconductor-like resistivity drop with an onset near 260 K and an offset at 248 K in the nominal (B0.65Ga0.35)(Ba1.25Sr0.75)(Er0.5Ca0.5)Cu2Oz compound. However, this property degraded with repeated cycling. Systematic studies of the superconducting properties of the (B1-xGax)(Ba1.25Sr0.75)(Er0.5Ca0.5)Cu2Oz compounds are reported and discussed in the context of the anomalous resistivity transition.

  • 크롬이 도핑된 $LiFePO_4$ 분말이 도핑되지 않은 것보다 이차전지용 양극활물질로서 우수한 전기화학적 특성을 나타내었다. 이러한 향상은 도핑에 의해서 양극활물질의 전자전도도가 높아지기 때문인 것으로 생각되고 있다. 크롬과 또 하나의 전형원소가 도핑된 $LiFe_{0.965}Cr_{0.03}B_{0.005}PO_4$$LiFe_{0.965}Cr_{0.03}Al_{0.005}PO_4$의 전기전도도를 30에서 $80^{\circ}C$ 범위에서 측정하였다. 도핑된 분말은 유성밀에 의한 기계화학적 혼합을 한 후 675~$750^{\circ}C$에서 5~10시간 열처리하여 합성하였다. 이러한 도핑은 분말의 전기전도도를 높이고 입자 성장을 촉진시켰다. 크롬과 알루미늄이 도핑된 $LiFe_{0.965}Cr_{0.03}Al_{0.005}PO_4$ 분말의 $30^{\circ}C$에서의 전기전도도는 $1{\times}10^{-8}S/cm$이었으며, 이 값은 도핑하지 않은 것보다 두 자릿수 높은 값 이었다.

  • Benzo(a)pyrene을 비롯한 16종의 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon(PAHs)과 4종의 nitro-PAHs를 reversed-phase liquid chromatography/diode array detection (RPLC/DAD)를 이용하여 기울기용리법으로 분리하고, PAH류의 머무름거동에 영향을 미치는 인자들, 즉 탄소수, F인자, L/B ratio, 물에 대한 용해도 및 방해수소원자쌍의 수와 시료의 머무름과의 상관관계를 고찰하였다. 대부분의 PAH류는 탄소원자수와 F값이 커질수록 logk'이 증가하는 사실을 확인하였다. 그리고 몇 가지 이성체들과 nitro-PAH류들은 용해도가 크고, L/B값이 작으며, 방해수소원자쌍의 수가 많을수록 먼저 용리됨을 확인하였다. 각 PAH류의 검출한계는 100~500ng/mL 범위로 나타났으며, 실제 물시료에 대한 검출한계(method detection limit, MDL)는 0.1~0.5ng/mL 범위였다.

  • The change of phosphorescent property with chemical modification and co-doping of Nd as an auxiliary activator in CaAl$_2$$O_4$: Eu\ulcorner, Nd\ulcorner phosphor, employing Nd\ulcornerion(0.6%) and an co-activator maintained its afterglow for 4.5 hours. And also the initial persistent brightness and phosphorescent property were further improved both by substituting Al by B atoms and incorporation of Nd\ulcorner ion. It was found that the persistent time was 30 hours for&Ca(Al_{0.97}\;B_{0.03}) $_2$$O_4$:EU\ulcorner(0.3%), Nd\ulcorner(0.6%) phosphor.

  • The coexistence of the superconductivity and magnetism in the Ho1-xDyxNi2B2C is studied by using Ginzburg-Landau theory. This material violates the standard do Gennes scaling showing the coexistence and complex interplay of superconducting and magnetic order yielding an anomalous phase diagram. We propose a phenomenological model which includes two magnetic and two superconducting order parameters accounting for the multi-band structure of this material. We describe the magnetic fluctuations and order and demonstrate that they lead to anomalous behavior of the upper critical field. The doping dependence of Tc in Ho1-xDyxNi2B2C showing a reentrance behavior are analyzed yielding a very good agreement with experimental data.
