Design and implementation of the interworking function for call processing control between B-ISDN and N-ISDN (B-ISDN과 N-ISDN간의 호처리 제어 연동기능부 설계 및 구현)

  • This paper focuses on the necessities of interworking and dervation of the requirements of interworking system for interworking between 64 Kbps based N-ISDN (narrowband ISDN) and B-ISDN(broadband ISDN). Furthermore, the design and the implementation of IWF (interworking function) are presentd. We analyze two ISDN signalling systems, and propose the architecture of interworking system. And then we make the baisc call procedure model between N-ISDN and B-ISDN, and verify the dynamic behaviors through the reachability tree of petri net. IWF is designed and implemented for transforming the differences between the two signalling systems. The operational confirmity of th eimplemented program was confirmed by the local test method. The performance of IWF was evaluated throguh the simulation language SLAM-II. As the result of evaluation shows, we confirm that the processing delay is maintained within 3 ms under the utilization 0.9.

  • B-ISDN is expected to be a main vehicle of future telecommunications. There has been a series fo studies on the demand and the market prospect of B-ISDN services. It is true, however, that they lacked some economic reality since the price of services has been overlooked which is a critical economic factor. In this study, we analyze some aspects of the tariff system of B-ISDN services. First, we explore and summarize the billing parameters of B-ISDN services from diverse characteristics of services and ATM network. These parameters are essential if the services are to be charged based on usage. Secondly, we discuss what factors be considered in the design fo B-ISDN services tariff systems from various points of view shch as traffic charactristics, information types and connection types, etc. The results of this study will offer fundamental insights in the design of B-ISDN service pricing scheme and provide reference for efficient services providing.

  • It is essential to develop the internetworking strategies between the OBP satellite B-ISDN and the terrestrial B-ISDN for the economical and efficient implementation of the future network infrastructure. We have considered the implementation issues of the emerging B-ISDN, especially interworking strategies of the terrestrial B-ISDN with the OBP satellite B-ISBN. We proposed interworking model between terrestrial B-ISDN and OBP satellite B-ISDN NNI signaling protocol, and describes the design and verification of the interworking protocol. For the verification, interworking protocol is modeled by Predicate/Action Net derived from Petri Net and the designed model is analyzed by reachability tree. Using Unix socket, the verified interworking protocol is implemented in two workstations and implemented interworking protocol is tested by local test method which is outstanding in error detection and recommended by ISO.

  • This paper has been studied a interworking signalling protocol between two hybrid networks by analyzing Satellite B-ISDN architecture, DSS2 Layer 3 Signalling protocol B-ISUP protocol, S-BISUP protocol stack and so on. Also in the paper, messages and primitives have been defined for B-ISDN's Connection Type, Ownership and each protocol in order to connect point-to-multipoint. And then this paper has designed basic call procedures for OBP Satellite B-ISDN NNI inter-working protocol, verified and implemented them.

  • 본 고에서는 B-ISDN 망간 신호방식에 적용되는 사용자부 프로토콜에 대하여 기술한다. 기본적인 내용 구성은 B-ISUP(B-ISDN User Part)의 ITU-T 권고안 구성, 체계, 배경, 목적, 기능 그리고 메시지와 파라미터의 구성 및 기본호 절차로 이루어져 있다. 또한 미래 확장 가능한 기능에 대하여도 기술하며 마지막으로 간단하게 N-ISDN과의 연동시 메시지와 절차에 대해서도 기술한다.

A Mathematical Model and an Algorithm for Dimensioning Problem of B-ISDN Extension (B-ISDN 확장 시 링크용량 설계 모형 및 알고리듬에 관한 연구)

  • At the initial deployment of B-ISDN, the heterogeneity of services and the bandwidth requirement make dimensioning of B-ISDN much more complicated than the dimensioning of homogeneous circuit or packet switched networks. Therefore B-ISDN must be extended gradually according to future telecommunication technology or service demands. In this paper, we propose a mathematical formulation for dimensioning problem of B-ISDN extension, considering the characteristics of ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) such as various quality of services, the statistical multiplexing effects of VPCs(Virtual Path Connections) and the modularity of transmission links allocated when new B-ISDN nodes are given. The algorithm based on the simultaneous linear approximation technique and Lagrangian relaxation method and some numerical results are also presented.

  • 기존의 공중전기 통신망들이 B-ISDN으로 통합, 발전되어 가는 과정에서 경제성 및 효율성 등의 이유로 인해 필연적으로 기존망과 연동과정이 필요하게 되며, 이러한 B-ISDN 통신망의 연동계획은 가능한 최적의 통신망 진화전략에 부합되어야 하고, 다양한 기술의 응용 가능성을 제한하지 않도록 수립되어야 하며, 또한 기존망의 기능을 수용하면서 구현될 수 있는 방안이 마련되어야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 B-ISDN과 N-ISDN의 망간 연동 프로토콜을 설계하고 설계한 프로토콜을 워크스테이션 상에서 구현하였으며, 구현한 프로토콜이 표준 규격과 일치하게 동작하는지 테스트하기 위하여 적합성 테스트 중 오류 검출 능력이 우수한 국부시험 방법을 이용하여 구현된 프로토콜이 정상적으로 동작함을 확인하였다.

  • ITU-T Q.2931 and ATM Forum UNI 3.1 lead the standardization of signaling functions for the call/connection control at B-ISDN UNI. The one is applicable to the system in the public network, which provides the point-to-point call/connection control. The other is applicable to configure ATM private network mainly related with various terminal equipments. Domestic B-ISDN developers have developed ATM switches and B-NTs as network equipment, and B-TA as a terminal equipment. But many kinds of terminal-equipments are needed to provide various services in B-ISDN. If the public network can accommodate the terminal-equipments of UNI 3.1, it's very effective to accommodate manu kinds of terminal-equipments. Therefore, this paper identifies the problems that can be occurred on the signaling procedure, when B-ISDN the public network is connected to the UNI 3.1 terminal-equipment, and provides good alternatives that can handle this kind of call/connection well.

Performance Analysis of ISDN AO/DI Scheme with Multiople ON-OFF sources (다중 ON-OFF 소스에 대한 ISDN AO/DI 기능의 성능분석)

  • ISDN provides mB+1D channel to users. An AO/D1 scheme means D-channel can be used for a permanent low speed connection. When user needs more bandwidth for high speed transfer, the AO/D1 scheme automatically provide greater capacity in the shape of ISDN B-channels. In this paper, we analyze the performance of the AO/D1 scheme with multiple ON-OFF sources in ISDN. We consider multiple ON-OFF sources connected through mB+1D ISDN link. Without the AO/D1 scheme, the required bandwidth will be the sum of peak bandwidth of all sources. With the implementation of the AO/D1 scheme, the required bandwidth is reduced to what is really needed.

  • B-ISDN은 SDH와 ATM기술을 기반으로 다양한 통신서비스(음성, 데이터, 영상 및 비디오)를 전달하기 위한 통합 정보통신망 개념이다. 이러한 B-ISDN을 효율적이고 체계적으로 통합 운용관리하고, 관리시스템들 간의 상호운용성을 보장할 수 있도록 B-ISDN 운용관리에 국제표준의 TMN 권고 개념을 도입 적용시키기 위한 연구가 활발히 진행중에 있다. 본 고에서는 TMN 개념을 기반으로 하는 B-ISDN 운용관리 표준화에 관해 ATM Forum 및 ITU-T를 중심으로 고찰하여 기술한다.
