Objective: To assess oral cancer awareness, its associated factors and related sources of information among a selected group of Malaysians. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted on all Malaysian ethnic groups aged ${\geq}15$ years old at eight strategically chosen shopping malls within a two week time period. Data were analysed using chi-square tests and multiple logistic regression. Significance level was set at ${\alpha}$ <0.05. Results: Most (84.2%) respondents had heard of oral cancer. Smoking was the most (92.4%) recognized high risk habit. Similar levels of awareness were seen for unhealed ulcers (57.3%) and red/white patches (58.0%) as signs of oral cancer. Age, gender, ethnicity, marital status, education, occupation and income were significantly associated with oral cancer awareness (p<0.05). Conclusions: There was a general lack of awareness regarding the risk habits, early signs and symptoms, and the benefits of detecting this disease at an early stage. Mass media and health campaigns were the main sources of information about oral cancer. In our Malaysian population, gender and age were significantly associated with the awareness of early signs and symptoms and prevention of oral cancer, respectively.

Background: Colorectal cancer is the second most common cancer in Malaysia. The prognosis of the disease is excellent if detected at an early stage, but the majority of Malaysian patients present at late stages. We aimed to assess the awareness of cancer warning signs and anticipated delay in help-seeking as possible contributors to this phenomenon. Materials and Methods: A population-based cross-sectional survey using the Colorectal Cancer Awareness Measure was initiated in Perak, Malaysia. A total of 2,379 respondents aged 18 years and above were recruited using a multi-stage sampling in five locations. Analysis of covariance was used to examine independent sociodemographic predictors of scores for symptom awareness. Results: Younger age, being female, a higher education, and higher income were significantly associated with better scores for both recall and recognition of warning symptoms. Among the ethnic groups, Malays had better recognition of symptoms whereas Chinese recalled the most symptoms. Passing bloody stool was associated with the least anticipated delay and unexplained anal pain had the highest anticipated delay. Conclusions: The level of awareness across all ethnicities in Malaysia is generally low, especially among minorities. Targeted public education, which is culturally and linguistically appropriate, should be developed to encourage early help-seeking and improve clinical outcomes.
Background: Older age is associated with an increase in the incidence of cancer cases. Diagnosis and treatment of cancer in older adults can be stressful because of health decline related to age, comorbidities and inadequate treatment for pain and other symptoms of the disease. This survey is one of the unique studies in Jordan and in the Arab world that aimed at exploring the predictors of older adult individuals awareness towards cancer. Materials and Methods: A stratified random sampling technique was followed to reach a representative sample of 753 participants. The questionnaire of the study consisted of parts regarding demographic variables, awareness about screening tests, and signs and symptoms of cancer. In addition, specific questions related to factors linked to cancer were included. Cross-sectional design was adopted with face-to-face interviews at the interviewees' households. Results: The mean age of the participants was about 63 years; around 44% of them are above the age of 65 years. 'Being convinced that having no health problem makes the individual feel safe and not at risk of getting cancer' was the major reason for not doing a routine health check-up. Conclusions: The low levels of awareness about cancer, as well as the low use of the screening methods were crucial outcomes of this study. Thus, raising the awareness among health care providers and policy makers in the country about older adults' perception of cancer is a high priority.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the influencing factors on oral and maxillofacial trauma prevention education experience of students majoring in physical education. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 268 students majoring in physical education in Busan. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 21.0. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics(4 questions), TMJ symptoms(9 questions), oral habit(8 questions), and mouth guard awareness(5 questions). The questionnaire was carried out by 5 Likert scale. Higher points of Likert scale showed the negative tendency except the mouth guard awareness. The higher points of mouth guard awareness showed the positive tendency to use the mouth guard. Results: Male students had higher scores of 2.75 points in bad oral habit than the female students(p<0.05). Female students higher score of 1.30 points in mouth guard awareness than male students(p<0.05). TMJ symptoms experience in oral and maxillofacial trauma was 3.15 points which was higher than the prevention education experience without maxillofacial trauma(p<0.001). TMJ symptoms and Mouth guard awareness showed 2.71(p<0.01) and 1.20 points(p<0.001) respectively in students with maxillofacial trauma prevention education experience. These score were higher than those without education experience of trauma prevention education experience. The influencing factors on trauma prevention education experience are mouth guard awareness(p<0.001), oral habits(p<0.01), and temporomandibular joint symptom(p<0.01). Conclusions: The necessity of mouth guards should be emphasized to prevent the serious oral trauma. It is very important to establish the rule for mouth guard use in sports activities. Therefore, oral and maxillofacial trauma prevention education program is needed.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between menopausal symptoms, perceived awareness of menopausal symptom, menopausal attitude and of menopausal management in middle aged women and to identify factors affecting menopausal symptoms. The subjects of study were 242 middle aged women who are living in G, J, K city and understood the research items and agreed to participate in the research. Data were collected from April 10 to May 30, 2019. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and Stepwise Multiple Regression with SPSS/WIN 25.0. In this study, it was founded that perceived awareness of menopausal symptom(β=. 51, p<.001), menstruation status(β=. 23, p<.001), perceived health status(β=. 19, p=. 002), satisfaction of life(β=. 14, p=. 019) and religion(β=. 10, p=. 045) were found to be influential factors affecting menopausal symptoms in middle aged women. The most influential factor was perceived awareness of menopausal symptom. A nursing intervention program is needed to change positively the awareness of menopausal symptom.
Targeting breast cancer awareness along with comprehensive cancer care is appropriate in low and middle income countries like India, where there are no organized and affordable screening services. It is essential to identify the existing awareness about breast cancer in the community prior to launching an organized effort. This study assessed the existing awareness about breast cancer amongst women and their health seeking practices in an urban community in Mumbai, India. A postal survey was undertaken with low or no cost options for returning the completed questionnaires. The majority of the women were aware about cancer but awareness about symptoms and signs was poor. Women were willing to accept more information about cancer and those with higher awareness scores were more likely to seek medical help. They were also more likely to have undergone breast examination in the past and less likely to use alternative medicines. High income was associated with better awareness but this did not translate into better health seeking behaviour. Organized programmes giving detailed information about breast cancer and its symptoms are needed and women from all income categories need to be encouraged for positive change towards health seeking. Further detailed studies regarding barriers to health seeking in India are necessary.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the self-rated oral health concern of adults over the age of 20 and from all over the country and their subjective oral health symptoms in a bid to provide some information on oral health policy setting for adults. Methods : The subjects in this study were 3,558 adults who voluntarily participated in a survey conducted by this researcher at the website of a company. After their answer sheets were analyzed, the following findings were given: Results : 1. 81 percent replied that they were very concerned about oral health. As to the relationship between their general characteristics and oral health concern, there were statistically significant differences in that regard according to their gender, age, purpose of seeing a dentist and occupation. 2. As for the relationship of their general characteristics to subjective awareness of oral health symptoms, there were statistically significant gaps in that aspect according to their gender, age, purpose of seeing a dentist, occupation and state of smoking. 3. In regard to the relationship between oral health concern and subjective awareness of oral health symptoms, those who were more concerned about oral health felt less subjective oral symptoms, but the difference between them and the others was not significant. The respondents who felt more symptoms of dental caries felt more symptoms of periodontal diseases as well. Conclusions : The above-mentioned findings indicate that in order to help adults promote or maintain their oral health, their concern for oral health should be stimulated by providing them with a lot of diverse information, and it seems that the development of programs that can eliminate their subjective oral symptoms of dental caries and peridontal diseases, the primary causes of tooth dysfunction, is required.
In order to investigate the complaint rates of subjective fatigue symptoms and study the relationship between them and body type, health awareness in middle school students, we carried out a survey of 1,209 students (654 boy students and 555 girl students) at a middle school in Taejon City by a self-recorded questionnaire. The survey was conducted in June, 1997. The results obtained were as follows: 1. Among complaints of fatigue, "feel like lying down" was the highest, followed by "feel anxious about things", "feel drowsy", "yawning a lot", "eye strain" and "whole body feels tired" in descending order. 2. In the average weighted score of fatigue complaint, dullness and sleepiness (I) was the highest, followed by a difficulty in concentration (II) and bodily projection of fatigue (III) in descending order. Fatigue seems to create mental stress rather than physical burdens. 3. In the classification of body type based on the $R\ddot{o}hrer$ index, the obesity type (145 and above) was 11.0%, standard type (110~144) was 64.7% and leptosomic type (l09 and below) was 24.3%. Comparison between both sexes revealed that the rate of obesity and leptosomic types were significantly higher in boy students than in girl students. 4. In terms body type awareness, the statistics are the following: those who consider themselves to be standard type, 44.3%, slightly obese 24.5%, leptosomic, 23.5% and obese 7.8%. However, the level of obesity awareness was significantly higher in girl students than in boy students. 5. As for health awareness, 36.5% considered themselves healthy, 5.4% generally healthy and 10.1% a little unhealthy, but the level of unhealthy awareness was higher in girl students than in boy students. 6. In the relationship between body type and health awareness, most students thought that they were obese in spite of their standard body type. Also, many students who were obese and leptosomic tended to consider themselves to be a little unhealthy. 7. The more the students were obese or felt unhealthy, the more the average weighted score of fatigue complaints was high.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of adolescents' Internet Usage Levels on their oral symptoms using the data from 60,040 students in the 14th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey in 2018. The logistic regression for the effects of Internet Usage Level on the oral symptoms were analyzed using a logistic regression method. Symptoms of toothache when eating and throbbing symptoms, and gum pain symptoms showed high levels of stress, and high awareness of pain when lower daily frequency of tooth-brushing. In addition, the less time spent on the Internet, the more subjective health awareness, the higher sleep satisfaction, the less smoking and drinking experience, Results were significantly lower. In conclusion, health education that mitigates adolescents' excessive use of the Internet is believed to enable proper health practices and is intended to help develop health education programs that can prevent such oral symptoms.

As a variety of industrial technology advances with various materials developed, cosmetics industry in general is witnessing many kinds of new cosmetic products. At the same time, Cosmetics Act becomes effective, and cosmetics ingredient labeling is implemented. Concerns with life pattern such as life management, biorhythm, right posture, and stress symptoms are on the increase in order to seek high-quality life as well. These life patterns are closely connected not only with life quality and health but with skin management, and thus this paper conducts a survey on the connection between functional cosmetics awareness and life pattern. Results show that out of 16 questions concerning cosmetics awareness, responses to question number 3, 5, 6 and 11 have relevant differences among colleges. Furthermore, the results of cross analysis with life pattern show that there are relevant differences between the year of responses and stress symptoms and between the year of responses and right posture. Lastly, it is shown that answers to questions regarding gender and biorhythm, gender and right posture, and gender and stress symptoms are relevantly different. Further research is needed to reveal the differences between college students and ordinary people at large.
