This study aimed to provide basic data for oral health promotion in adults by analyzing causal relationships for oral health practice determinants. A total of 204 questionnaires obtained from adults living in Busan and Gyeongnam area were analyzed to verify the study model with the Smart PLS v2.0 M2 software. Among oral health belief factors, the severity of and susceptibility to oral disease and benefit of oral care behavior affected oral health-related self-efficacy. The self-efficacy on ordinary oral health care behavior significantly affected overall oral health practice. The severity of and susceptibility to oral disease and benefit of oral disease prevention behavior affected toothbrushing habit and oral examination and training through toothbrushing-related self-efficacy. Therefore, the increased oral health-related self-efficacy through strategic efforts, including various training media development, with improved awareness of oral health belief by continuous oral health care program development will lead to continuous oral health practice in adults.

Objectives: The main purpose of the present study was to investigate the associations between the risk of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and chronic orofacial pain in a nationally representative sample of the Korean population. Materials and Methods: Data from the 8th wave Korean national health and nutrition examination survey, which was conducted from 2019 to 2020 were analyzed. This study included 5,780 Koreans (2,503 males, 3,277 females) over 40 years of age. The presence of subjective chronic facial pain lasting more than 3 months was evaluated based on a self-reported questionnaire. The risk of OSA was determined using the STOP-BANG questionnaire. Data related to anthropometric and sociodemographic factors; diagnostic history of hypertension, depression, and OSA; level of health-related quality of life and stress awareness; health-related behaviors, including smoking and alcohol drinking; and sleep duration were collected. The participants were classified into two groups according to the presence of chronic facial pain. Results: The level of health-related quality of life and stress awareness showed significant differences between the two groups. The sleep duration on weekends also presented significant differences. No significant differences were observed in the presence of snoring and observed apnea, while participants with chronic facial pain showed significantly higher levels of tiredness between the groups. The risk of OSA evaluated by STOP-BANG questionnaire showed significant differences between groups; however, the risk of OSA seemed to be higher in participants without chronic facial pain. Conclusion: The participants with chronic facial pain demonstrated decreased sleep duration, lower health-related quality of life, and increased stress and tiredness. Even though, the role of OSA in the development of chronic facial pain was inconclusive from the study, it is possible that ethnicity play a role in relationship between OSA and chronic facial pain.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of calculus removal, an essential factor in periodontal disease in the elderly population. Further, the study aimed to identify the oral hygiene management matters of individuals and to use the information as primary data for preventing dental loss and improving the prevention of chronic diseases. From December 20, 2019, to January 15, 2020, the results of 171 studies on oral hygiene management and awareness of calculus removal among the elderly aged 65 or older in Busan and Gyeongnam are as follows: The elderly with good health appreciated their functional oral health status and showed significant differences (Χ2=298.26, p<.001). Many of the elderly brushing their teeth at least three times a day had a better health status and showed significant differences according to their health status (= 134.42, p <.001). Usually, older people who are in good health have a dental floss (Χ2=89.31, p<.001), and the dental floss were used more often and significantly differed depending o health status (Χ2=92.53, p<.001). The elderly's perception of tartar removal has shown that the overall average out of five points is positive at 3.48. Older female adults were more positive and showed significant differences regarding gender (t=-7.95, p<.001). Senior citizens aged 65 to 70 were more positive about dental removal than those aged 71 or older, with significant differences in age (t=6.65, p<.001). As described above, oral hygiene management for the elderly population needs to develop a periodontal disease prevention program linked to systemic diseases, considering that there are many chronic diseases.
This study aims to identify the status of oral care of professional soldiers and analyze the relationship between oral care needs and oral health symptoms based on oral health recognition, thus providing an opportunity to create a system for improving oral health of professional soldiers. The study was conducted on a total of 232 military personnel aged 19 or older who were employed in the military. The questionnaire for this study was commissioned to respond by explaining the purpose of the study and how to respond to the survey by telephone with the selected sub-employer. The content included in the questionnaire consisted of general characteristics, oral care status, and awareness of dental hygienists. When the subjective oral health condition was poor, normal, or good, it was all shown that the toothbrush was done more than three times a day, and the oral examination was all examined. In particular, 68.1 percent of the respondents said they were in good subjective health. Preventive treatment was the highest in the group with good subjective oral health. Of the total respondents, 83.6 percent said "yes" to the question of knowing dental hygienists, while 65.5 percent said "yes" to the question of whether they know the work of dental hygienists, recognizing that most of the respondents were aware of dental hygienists and their work. Both the group that said they knew the dental hygienist and the group that said they did not know answered 43.5% as an assistant. In conclusion, oral health projects will have to be carried out in line with military situations in order to maintain a healthy oral state of professional soldiers, and long-term planning for active oral health care, especially as an important role of personnel in charge of health care in the military is needed.

The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients with the SPSS/PC 20.0 program. The results revealed oral health to be a serious problem, and that a visit to a dentist regularly is important. The relationship between the oral health awareness and the confidence that can keep cavities from children did not show significant progress on any topic.
