  • This paper presents the findings of a study in which students at a four-year university were surveyed in an effort to analyze and verify the differences in perceived security awareness, security-related activities, and security damage experiences when using smartphones, based on demographic variables such as gender, academic year, and college major. Moreover, the perceived security awareness items and security-related activities were tested to verify whether they affect the students' security damage experience. Based on survey data obtained from 592 participants, the findings indicate that demographic differences exist for some of the survey question items. The majority of the male students replied "affirmative" to some of the questions related to perceived security awareness and "enthusiastic" to questions about security-related activities. Some academic year differences exist in the responses to perceived security awareness and security-related activities. On the whole, freshmen had the lowest level of security awareness. Security alert seems to be very high in sophomores, but it decreases as the students become older. While the difference in perceived security awareness based on college major was not significant, the difference in some security-related activities based on that variable was significant. No significant difference was found in some items such as storing private information in smartphones and frequency of implementation of security applications based on the college major variable. However, differences among the college majors were verified in clicking hyperlinks in unknown SMS messages and in the number of security applications in smartphones. No differences were found in security damage experiences based on gender, academic year, and college major. Security awareness items had no impact on the experience of security damage in smartphones. However, some security activities, such as storing resident registration numbers in a smartphone, clicking hyperlinks in unknown SMS messages, the number of security apps in a smartphone, and the frequency of implementation of security apps did have an impact on security damage.

  • This study was conducted to provide fundamental data on the awareness of radiation, specifically the differences between general awareness, psychological state and harmful effects. Data was collected from 334 University students in the Chungbuk region through a self-administered questionnaire. According to the results of the reliability and factor analysis, the awareness of radiation was 2.80, with a Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.815 and KMO of 0.798. Factor analysis extracted three components of the awareness of radiation, which we named general awareness (factor 1), psychological state (factor 2), and harmful effect (factor 3). There were significant differences in the general awareness of natural radiation and radiation-containing foods (p<0.05), whereas no significant differences were found in the general awareness of radiation food supply (p>0.05). Also, the psychological state showed a significant difference in exposure inspection, future exposure, and radiation-containing food (p<0.05), whereas no significant differences were found in the refusal of radiation inspection (p>0.05). The harmful effects showed a significant difference in the rejection of radiation (p<0.05), but no significant differences in the cancer and genetic effects, diseases and physical harmfulness (p>0.05). A significant positive result (p<0.05) was found for the psychological state according to the harmful effects of radiation. Based on this study, detailed and continuous education must be accomplished by increasing the awareness of radiation and the acceptance level, conveying a proper understanding of radiation and assisting subjects with receiving the information they desire through various educational mediums.

  • Awareness effect of aquapuncture with dexamethasone on GV-26 was studied in tiletamine/zolazapam anesthetized six healthy crossbred dogs using a randomized cross-over experimental study design. After anesthesia by tiletamine/zolazapam, 0.1 mg dexamethasone was injected on GV-26 at 20 min in the experimental group. For the control group, 0.1 mg dexamethasone was injected on the quadriceps femoralis. A significant difference was evident in the sedation score between groups at 60 and 90 min (p < 0.05). A significant difference was also evident in the analgesia score at 50 and 60 min (p < 0.05). At 90 min, all dogs in the experimental group responded strongly to pain (p < 0.01). Head up time, sternal recumbent time, standing time, and walking time was shorter in the experimental group, but the difference from the control group was statistically significant only for head up time and walking time (p < 0.05). GV-26 acupuncture with dexamethasone is useful for awareness effects after anesthesia.

  • Consumer anxiety about food safety is increasing, and the ability to make an accurate assessment is inadequate due to the lack of food safety information. This research focuses on relations among main variables, such as food hazard awareness, food apprehension, food safety information awareness, and food safety management system evaluation. In addition, to the moderating effects of food safety information awareness between food hazards awareness, food apprehension, and food safety management system evaluation. First, food hazards awareness and apprehension was slightly higher than the average level, also there was a significant difference in food hazard apprehension according to food hazard awareness. However, the level of food safety information was not high, meaning consumers were not as well informed as expected. We divided food safety management system evaluation into awareness and practice, subsequently, the results of both were at a low level. Food safety information awareness' moderating effect was also confirmed. Consumer organizations and the government need to provide specific and correct information to Korean consumers, that also implement a wide range of consumer education related policies.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic data on hand washing of physical therapists by examining their awareness and practice of hand washing according to proper clinical practice. A total of 536 questionnaires were collected from physical therapy students in Gwangju metropolitan city. The general characteristics of the subjects were calculated by frequency analysis, and the awareness and practice of hand washing with and without clinical practice were analyzed by independent t-tests. As a result of analyzing hand washing awareness according to the clinical practice, there was a significant difference in hand washing up to the wrist (p<0.05), and a significant difference in 6 stages of proper hand washing (p<0.01). As a result of analyzing hand washing practice according to clinical practice, there was a significant difference in hand washing before eating and starting clinical practice (p<0.05), a significant difference in washing hands after contacting clinical practice equipment and washing your fingers from your thumb down (p<0.01). As a result of analyzing the correlation between awareness and practice, most showed positive correlation. This means it is important to raise the awareness of proper washing hands. Therefore, it is believed that the training school should repeatedly conduct its own hand washing training within the school and in clinical practice to increase awareness and improve handwashing in clinical practice.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument for assessing teachers' awareness of science teaching through analogy (ASTA) and to establish its validity and reliability. Based on the literatures on science teaching with analogies, we constructed 23 survey items. Face validity of the items was established using three science education experts. Through exploratory factor analysis with responses of 35 pre- and 26 inservice elementary school teachers, the instruments were constructed on four subcategories: awareness of analogies in science, use of analogy in teaching and learning, self-efficacy in science knowledge, and knowledge of analogy. The data collected from pre- and in-service elementary teachers demonstrated that overall the teachers' awareness of analogy in science was neutral, which indicated they did not have clear standpoints of science teaching through analogy. Further examination demonstrated that there was no significant difference between pre- and in-service teachers and between two genders. Moreover, there was no significant difference among teachers who preferred either didactic or discovery teaching approaches. We conclude that ASTA test would contribute assessment of teachers' awareness of analogy in science teaching while further examination of the instrument will warrant for its broader use.
