탁도 측정을 통한 지료의 응집거동 평가 (Evaluation of Stock Flocculation Phenomena Based on Turbidity Measurement)

  • Flocculation phenomena of the stock mixed with cellulosic fibers, fillers and polymers were investigated by a new turbidity measurement system consisted of a probe-type turbidimeter, data acquisition system and computer. The probe-type turbidimeter allowed to measure the real time flocculation of the stock induced by single polymer and microparticle systems. Flocculation phenomena were evaluated by average and final relative turbidity indices. Turbidity and flocculation showed inverse relationship, i.e. the turbidity decreased with the formation of flocs. Relative turbidity of the stock treated with microparticle system was lower than that of the stock containing single polymer system, which indicated that the microparticle system showed greater floc forming efficiency than single polymer system.

우수의 지표 포집 모델의 개발 및 적용 (Development and Application of Rainwater Collection Model by the Ground)

  • In this study, quantity and quality of collected rainwater by the ground collection system were investigated and the Rainwater Collection Prediction Model was developed to predict the amount of collected rainwater. The quantity of collected rainwater in the collection system was 9516 L(38.2%) and the quantity of infiltrated rainwater in the collection system was 9946 L(40.2%) through $25m^2$ area for the study period, respectively. Average turbidity of collected rainwater in collection system was 2.2 NTU, and average turbidity of infiltrated rainwater in collection system was 2.3 NTU for study period, respectively. The predicted amount by the model and the actual collected amount were 9842.4 L and 9516 L, which were very close showing that prediction was excellent. The optimal rainwater storage tank volume was simulated with a certain consumption condition for various cities with different rainfall patterns.

  • The objective of this study it to evaluate the microbial safety in rapid sand filters adapted in most drinking water treatment plants. The potential pathogens to cause water quality problems Are presumed to be Giardia and Gryptosporidium. They look like particles in view of their size. It has been reported that if the number of particles (larger than 2 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in water) is less than 100 per mL and its turbidity is below 0.1 NTU, it is considered as a safe water in terms of pathogens. In order to achieve such a good water quality. filter-aids (chemicals) were added to the inlet-channel of filter and their effectiveness was evaluated on the basis of water quality factors such as turbidity and particle counting. This study was conducted in she three steps of experiment: jar test. pilot plant test and real water treatment plant test (P plant in seoul). The experiment reult of the P water treatment showed that cationic polyamine was the most effective in the removal of particles and turbidity at the does of 0.25 mg/L. The turbidity without filer-aids showed in the range of 0.12 ~0.17 NTU during filtration and 0.14 NTU on the average. However. with addition of polyamine, the turbidity represented below(or less than) 0.1 NTU after 20 min in the start of filtration and kept 0.08 NTU on the average. On the other hand, as for number of particles, while no filter-aids led to the range of 111 ~270 per mL and 190 on the average, addition of polydmine led to 113 per mL on talc average, and kept below100 per mL after 20 min in the start of filtration.

침사기능 콘크리트 배수로의 유사 유출 저감에 관한 연구 (Study of Installation of Sediment Trap Drain Channel to Reduce Soil Erosion from Storm Water Runoff)

  • Researchers developed Sediment Trap Drain Channel (STDC) as a solution of the reduction of soil erosion and muddy runoff from a alpine field. The STDC is the one that can take a role of grit chamber by installing the shield made of woods in the concrete channel. The study was conducted 8 kinds of stages according to the amount of soil loss and the inflow. Evaluation factors were ss concentration, turbidity and reduced soil. The results of study showed lessness of ss concentration and turbidity from the lower spot than the upper spot. The average reduction rate of ss concentration was 74 % and the average reduction rate of turbidity was 62 %. It was turned out that the performance related soil loss and muddy runoff of the STDC is effective. The governance was needed to expect the effectiveness of the STDC.

해수용역의 대양균오염에 대한 조사연구 (A Study on the Coliform Contamination of Sea Water at Bathing Places in Korea)

  • A study was carried out to find out the biological contamination of beaches in Korea from May 16, to June 2, 1972. Turbidity was measured and coliform groups were examined by membrane filter method as well as general sanitary condition of beaches. Main findings were as follows: 1. The average coliform group count was 5.0 per 100 ml of tested water, and the range of coliform. group count was 0~120 out of 8 beaches, Chungmun beach was found to be the least contaminated while Daechun was the most contaminated (23. 3/100 ml), however, those beaches surveyed. were satisfactory as far as bacteriological contaminations were concerned. 2. The average coliform group count of water samples from rising tides was 2.8/100 ml. The range of coliform count from rising tide was 0~26/100 ml, and those from receding were 1~120/100 ml. 3. The average turbidity of the water in Korean western beaches was 5.0 ppm, while that of Chejudo was 2.0 ppm. of 8 beaches surveyed, the turbidity of Daechon beach was the highest (7.0 ppm). 4. Out of 8 beaches surveyed shower facilities existed at only 4 beaches (50%), however the drainages of showers and bath rooms were not sanitarily adequate.

Prolonged Turbidity of the Lower Nakdong River in 2003

  • The Nakdong River, which lies in a monsoon climate zone with warm rainy summers and cold dry winters, is a typical ecosystem showing the attributes of a regulated river. In 2003, the total annual rainfall (1,805 mm) was higher than the average of the past nine years from 1994 to 2002 (1,250 mm). In September a powerful typhoon, Maemi, caused a big impact on the limnology of the river for over two months. Among the limnological variables, turbidity in 2003 (37.4 ${\pm}$ 94.1 NTU, n = 54) was higher than the annual average for ten years (18.5 ${\pm}$ 2.3 NTU, n = 486) in the lower part of the river (Mulgum: RK 28). Furthermore, physical disturbance (e.g. stream bank erosion within channel) in the upstream of the Imha Dam (RK ca. 350; river distance in kilometer from the estuary barrage) in the upper part of the river was a source of high turbidity, and impacted on the limnological dynamics along a 350 km section of the middle to lower part of the river. After the typhoon, high turbidity persisted more than two months in the late autumn from September to November in 2003. Flow regulation and the extended duration of turbid water are superimposed on the template of existing main channel hydroecology, which may cause spatial changes in the population dynamics of plankton in the river.

근적외선의 분광특성 분석을 통한 반사율과 탁도의 상관관계 분석 (Correlation Analysis of Reflectance and Turbidity through Spectral Characteristics of Near-Infrared)

  • 본 연구는 초분광 영상의 반사율과 탁도 관계를 해석하는 것이 목표로써 실험수조에 탁수를 발생시킨 후 드론 기반의 초분광 영상촬영을 수행하였으며 측정된 탁도와 반사율의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 실험에 사용된 9개 수조는 모든 빛을 흡수할 수 있는 흑색 아크릴로 제작하였으며 토양은 임하호 탁수 발생의 원인이 되는 창하천 하류에서 채취하였다. 연구결과, 근적외선 영역에서 파장에 따른 반사율은 전반적으로 유사한 패턴으로 나타났으며, 탁도가 높은 Box일수록 반사율이 증가하였다. 또한 각 Box에서 측정한 탁도와 평균반사율의 상관관계를 분석한 결과 결정계수는 0.8702로 매우 높게 나타나 반사율을 이용한 탁도 예측이 가능한 것으로 나타났다.

Biofilter pretreatment for the control of microfiltration membrane fouling

  • A pilot scale biofilter pretreatment-microfiltration system (BF-MF) was operated to investigate the effect of biofilter treatment in fouling reduction of microfiltration. Biofiltration was expected to reduce the membrane fouling by removal of turbidity and metal oxides. The hollow-fiber MF module with a nominal pore size of 0.1$\mu$m and a surface area of 8m$^2$ was submerged in a filtration tank and microfiltration was operated at a constant flux of 0.5 m/d. Biofiltration using polypropylene pellets was performed at a high filtration velocity of 320 m/d. Two experimental setups composed of MF and BF/MF, i.e., without and with biofilter pretreatment, were compared. Throughout the experimental period of 9 months, biofilter pretreatment was effective to reduce the membrane fouling, which was proved by the result of time variations of trans-membrane pressure and backwash conditions. The turbidity removal rate by biofiltration varied between 40% to 80% due to the periodic washing for biofilter contactor and raw water turbidity. In addition to turbidity, metals, especially Mn, Fe and Al were removed effectively with average removal rates of 89.2%, 67.8% and 64.9%, respectively. Further analysis of foulants on the used membranes revealed that turbidity and metal removal by biofiltration was the major effect of biofiltration pretreatment against microfiltration fouling.

발전방류구 위치변화에 따른 저수지내 탁수변화 -대청댐을 대상으로- (Effect of Hydroelectric Power Plant Discharge on the Turbidity Distribution in Dae-Cheong Dam Reservoir)

  • In the study, CE-QUAL-W2 was used and its examination and correction were conducted targeting 2001 and 2003 when the condition of rainfall was contradicted. Using the proved model in 2003, a scenario was implemented with management of locations for dewatering outlets and actual data for dam management in 1987 when inflow and outflow level were almost same. In case of the scenario which the location of dewatering outlets was 5m higher than usual location, exclusion efficiency for turbid water inflow at the beginning of precipitation was good. In case of the scenario which the location of dewatering outlets was 10m lower than usual location, exclusion efficiency for excluding turbid water remained in a reservoir after the end of precipitation. However, the scenario applying dam management data in 1987, exclusion efficiency was relatively low. In the scenario, power-generating water release spot at EL.57m for first four days after the beginning of precipitation, EL.52m for 5th to 8th and EL.42m from 9th days. An analysis of the scenario reveals that both excessive days exceeded 30 NTU and average turbidity levels were decreased comparing before and after the alteration on outlets. The average turbidity levels were decreased by minimum of 55% to maximum of 70% and 30NTU exceeding days were decreased by 45 days at maximum. Also, since it could exclude most of turbid water in a reservoir before the destatifcation, the risk for turbid water evenly distributed in a reservoir along with turn-over could be decreased as well.

통계적 기법을 이용한 광주지역 민방위비상급수용 지하수 수질 오염도 분석 및 시각화 연구 (Visualization and contamination analysis for groundwater quality of CDEWSF in Gwangju area using statistical method)

  • 본 연구에서는 광주지역 민방위비상급수시설 101 개소를 대상으로 2006년부터 2016년까지 11년 동안 측정한 지하수 수질자료를 통계적으로 분석하였으며, 각 시설별로 먹는물 수질기준 초과횟수와 평균농도 분석 및 경향성 분석을 실시하고, 그 분석결과를 이용하여 4 개의 오염등급으로 구분하였다. 또한 이를 바탕으로 토지이용 현황별로 각 항목의 지하수 오염도를 평가하였다. 통계적으로 유의한 민방위 비상급수 15 개 항목에 대한 수질기준초과횟수, 평균농도분석, 경향성분석의 세가지 오염지시인자를 분석하여 합산한 결과 Turbidity (51.5 %) > Color (32.7 %) > Nitrate nitrogen (28.7 %) > Hardness (25.7 %) 순으로 오염 지시율이 상대적으로 높게 평가되었다. 오염등급 분석결과 안전(0)부터 오염심각(3)까지 오염등급이 다양하게 분포한 Turbidity, Color, Nitrate nitrogen의 3 개 항목을 제외하면 12 개 항목의 수질 오염등급은 전체의 25 %는 '오염가능한 등급(1)'으로, 75%는 '안전한 등급(0)'으로 평가되었다. QGIS를 이용하여 오염 지시율이 높게 평가된 4 개 항목(Turbidity, Color, Nitrate nitrogen, Hardness)은 오염지도에 작성하여 오염등급을 시각화하였다.
