LCD panels are used widely in all sorts of devices. Since glass is the main material used to make the panels, scratch resistance is an important issue in acquiring high quality LCD panels. In this work the wear behaviors of three types of commercially available LCD panel glasses were investigated. A pin-on-reciprocating tribotester was used to perform the wear tests using the glass specimens against a stainless steel ball. The hardness of the specimens was initially obtained. It was shown that the wear amount varied with respect to the applied load as well as the type of glass. The wear pattern of the glass specimen was also characterized using confocal microscopy. It is expected that the results of this work will aid in improving the tribological properties of LCD panel glass.

The IB is normally defined in terms of BA, OA, security system, information processing and telecommunications services However, the buildings being already in existence are deficient in two areas. One of these areas is building envelope and plan. The other area is mechanical, electrical and structural systems which do not provide the environmental quality required by IB. Existing technology and design knowledge are available to address these deficiencies. Especially, the office buildings being already in existence must meet IB requirement in order to achieve desirable office environment. They are a building envelope, moisture control, properly-located windows, shafts for duct, telephone and electric closets and acoustical environments. In this paper, a new approach to construct the work scope of remodelling the office building being already existence is described by contrasting the building performance criteria of IB. It concludes by speculating on the consequences of extrapolating the results of study to remodelling the office building being already existence.

This paper analyzes robotic technology developed for live-line electricity distribution and its applicability to domestic environment. In doing so, available robotic systems developed for the live-line work are thoroughly investigated and compared in terms of from robotic functionality to economic feasibility. To assess the technology readiness for domestic live-line robot, the rubber gloves based direct live-line engineering methods have been also analyzed and mapped into robotic technology requisites. The results are expected as a fundamental data to help with solving the safety and economics issues when considering development and introduction of compact live-line robot for complex domestic electricity distribution environment.

This paper addresses the relationship between public housing tenure and social disadvantage. The research examines social capital levels among public tenants in Australia, concentrating on their level of interpersonal trust and confidence in a range of public institutions. Through multivariate analyses of national survey data it also profiles the social and political background of public housing tenants. Although public housing tenants have access to secure and affordable housing, they appear to be less trusting and 'happy' than private renters or homeowners, and exhibit less confidence in some institutions such as the Australian parliament, universities and the ABC (the Australian public television broadcaster). These results probably reflect the residualised nature of public housing in Australia and indicate that public tenants are likely to be 'alienated' from certain aspects of mainstream culture. However, public tenants have higher levels of confidence than homeowners in the Australian defence forces and trade unions. So public housing may 'shore up' confidence and social capital in some areas, and levels of trust would be lower if public housing was not available to disadvantaged citizens.

In this work, a theoretical investigation on the energy harvesting is undertaken using one of potential smart materials; piezoelectric material. The energy equations fur both square and circular types of the piezoelectric material are derived, and the energy generated from two commercially available Products: $PZT (Lead/Zirconium/Titanium: Pb(Zr,\;Ti)O_3)$ and PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) are investigated in terms of the thickness and area. In addition, a finite element analysis (FEA) is undertaken to obtain the generated energy due to the uniform pressure applied on the surface of the piezoelectric materials. A comparative work between the theory and the FEA is made followed by the brief discussion on the usage of the harvested energy for Bio MEMS.

In the present work, an analytical solution for the static analysis of laminated composites, functionally graded and sandwich singly and doubly curved panels on the rectangular plan-form, subjected to uniformly distributed transverse loading is presented. Mathematical formulation is based on the higher order shear deformation theory and principle of virtual work is applied to derive the equations of equilibrium subjected to small deformation. A solution methodology based on the fast converging finite double Chebyshev series is used to solve the linear partial differential equations along with the simply supported boundary condition. The effect of span to thickness ratio, radius of curvature to span ratio, stacking sequence, power index are investigated. The accuracy of the solution is checked by the convergence study of non-dimensional central deflection and moments. Present results are compared with those available in the literature.

Tower cranes are essential equipments that play a key role in the overall process of large-scale construction projects, as well as high-rise apartments construction projects. Tower cranes hoist various loads near and over people, working in crowded environments, sometimes in overlapping work areas, and often under the constraints of time, budget, and labor. This work system further increases the safety risks of sites with inherently hazardous workplaces. The methodology of this research was based on a comprehensive inquiry of a team of experts, including safety managers and equipment managers of major construction companies and previous literature search. Due to the limited resources available to improve safety and prevent accidents, more attention should be paid to all parties involved in factors that have been evaluated to have a significant impact on site safety due to tower crane operations.

A numerical simulation has been conducted to investigate the physics of the Ranque-Hilsch vortex tube. Even though currently available turbulent models cannot predict such complex flow accurately, it was expected that the simulation would enlighten underlying physics qualitatively. The balance of energy on a fluid particle moving along some typical streamlines through shear work and heat transfer was investigated to explain the physics of energy separation process. It was found that the heat transfer cancels major part of the energy separation done by shear work. It was also found that the most of energy separation occur near inlet and hot outlet.

The objective of this project is to conduct an underwater survey. The primary goal is to develop a device that can achieve the desired output under test conditions. For this reason, certain practical considerations must be taken into account, and the implementation is then developed to be carried out to obtain stable performance with the available hardware based on that experiment. The experiment was performed via BlueROV2 (Remotely Operated Vehicle) using RaspberryPi and softwares such as QGC (QGroundControl) and ArduPilot. This paper explains the work, the results with the collected data and how we implemented the work is presented in the end. The intention of this experiment is to connect two PCs using RaspberryPi with MAVLink communication using a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf device.

The use of Internet has became an indispensible job to virtually every work, including quality management.
