  • The purpose of this study is to develop and test the effectiveness of a financial education program that make the elderly recognize financial problems and find available strategy to improve their financial situation. Based on the literature review and economic structure of the elderly, a financial education program was developed with three parts: 'My elderly lift'; 'Doubling my income'; and 'Safe investment strategy.' 42 elderly people in Senior academy participate in three-session program and 39 people completed pre and post-test and satisfaction survey. In order to examine the effectiveness of the program paired t-test was used. According to evaluation results, the program was found to have a positive effect on enhancing knowledge in elderly lift and financial management, but not on changing attitude. Most of participants show high level of satisfaction with the program.

  • Scheduling is assigning each operation in a control/data flow graph(CDFG) to a specific control step. It directly influences the performance of the hardware synthesized. In this paper, we propose an efficient resource-constrained scheduling algorithm assuming that only available silicon area is given. We performed the experiment to evaluate its performance. The results show that our algorithm find the solution with shorter scheduling length compared to the existing methods.

  • When the energy resource available to a particular plant (be it coal, oil, gas, water, or nuclear fuel) is a limiting factor in the operation of the plant, the entire economic dispatch calculation must be done differently. Each economic dispatch calculation must account for what happened before and what will happen in the future. This paper presents a formulation and a solution method for the optimization problem with a fuel constraint in a competitive electricity market. Take-or- Pay (TOP) contract for an energy resource is the typical constraint as a limiting factor. Two approaches are proposed in this paper for modeling the dispatch calculation in a market mechanism. The approaches differ in the subject who considers and inserts the fuel-constraint into its optimization problem. Market operator and each power producer having a TOP contract are assumed as such subjects. The two approaches are compared from the viewpoint of profits. surplus. and social welfare on the basis of Nash Equilibrium.

  • Edge Computing enables image-based inference in close proximity to end users and real-world objects. However, since edge servers have limited computational and accelerator resources, efficient resource management is essential. In this paper, we present HeteroAccel system that performs optimal scheduling in Kubernetes platform based on available node and accelerator information for various inference requests. Our experiments showed 25.3% improvement in overall inference performance over the default scheduling scheme in edge computing environment in which four types of inference services are requested.

  • Purpose-This study examines how financial slack resources and subcontracting of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) affect their internationalization. To identify slack resources, subcontracting, and internationalization of SMEs, 1,062 SME samples in the electronics industry are used in the logistic regression analysis to analyze their relationship with SMEs' export. Research design, data, and methodology-This study conducted the empirical analysis on 1,062 SMEs in the electronics industry using the sample survey method. The samples were based on data selected and distributed by the Ministry SMEs and Startups. The data analysis methods were descriptive, correlation analysis, and logistics regression analysis. Result-The analysis shows that only available resources are negatively related to SMEs' internationalization. It can be interpreted as a high tendency for SMEs to avoid relatively risky choices such as entering overseas markets if they have enough financial resources. Moreover, subcontracting has a negative relationship with internationalization. Conclusion-This study broadened the scope of SME research by analyzing subcontracting and slack resources together and provides practical implications for policymakers and managers.

  • Recently, as the need for data access by integrating information in a distributed cloud environment increases in enterprise-wide enterprises, interoperability for collaboration between existing legacy systems is emphasized. In order to interconnect independent legacy systems, it is necessary to overcome platform heterogeneity and semantic heterogeneity. To solve this problem, middleware was built using EMRA (Extended MetaData Registry Access) based on ISO/IEC 11179. However, the designed middleware cannot guarantee the efficiency of information utilization because it does not have an adjustment function for each node's resource status and work status. Therefore, it is necessary to manage and adjust the legacy system. In this paper, we coordinate the correct data access between the information requesting agent and the information providing agent, and integrate it by designing a cooperative agent responsible for information monitoring and task distribution of each legacy system and resource management of local nodes. to make efficient use of the available information.

  • The radio resources available in a wireless network system are limited. Therefor, job of managing resources is not easy task. Because the resources are shared among the UEs that are connected, the process of assigning resources must be carefully controlled. The packet scheduler in an LTE network is in charge of allocating resources to the user equipment (UE). Femtocells networks are being considered as a promising solution for poor channel performance for mulitple environments. The implementation of femtocells into a macrocell (traditional base station) would boost the capacities of the cellular network. To increase femtocells network capacity, a reliable Packet Scheduler mechanism should be implemented. The Packet Scheduler technique is introduced in this paper to maximize capacity of the network while maintaining fairness among UEs. The proposed solution operates in a manner consistent with this principle. An analysis of the proposed scheme's performance is conducted using a computer simulation. The results reveal that it outperforms the well-known PF scheduler in terms of cell throughput and average throughput of UEs.

  • Smart cities collect data from thousands of IoT-based sensor devices for intelligent application-based services. Centralized cloud servers support application tasks with higher computation resources but introduce network latency. Fog layer-based data centers bring data processing at the edge, but fewer available computation resources and poor task allocation strategy prevent real-time data analysis. In this paper, tasks generated from devices are distributed as high resource and low resource intensity tasks. The novelty of this research lies in deploying a virtual node assigned to each cluster of IoT sensor machines serving a joint application. The node allocates tasks based on the task intensity to either cloud-computing or fog computing resources. The proposed Task Allocation Strategy provides seamless allocation of jobs based on process requirements.

  • NAPRT(Naming Authority Pointer) is a type of resource record specified in IETF RFC 2915. NAPTR enables to register various services in the Domain Name Systems and thus provides a way to discover services available on specific hosts. This paper describes the design and implementation of a Proxy DNS system aimed at supporting NAPTRs. The goal of this work is to study on the feasibility of the service discovery registered in DNS via NAPTR records and provides the result for simplicity and extensibility of implementation through the implementation of a actual Test-bed system This research result can be applied to service discovery in the resource information management for high performance GRE environments as well as to the implementation of DNS infrastructure for the ENUM.

  • To ensure resource adequacy in restructured electricity markets, policymakers have adopted installed capacity (ICAP) markets in some regions of the United States. These markets ensure that adequate generation exists to satisfy regional Loss of Load Probability(LOLP) criterion. Since the incentives created through ICAP mechanisms directly impact new generation and transmission investment decisions we examine one important factor that links ICAP markets with LOLP calculations;, determining the amount of ICAP credit assigned to particular generation units. First, we review and critique the literature on electric power systems' market failure resulting from demand exceeding supply. We then summarize the method of computing (the LOLP) as a means of assessing reliability and relate this method to ICAP markets. We find that only the expected value of available generation is used In current ICAP markets while ignoring the second and higher order moments, which tends to mis-state the ICAP value of a specific resource. We then consider a proposal whose purpose is to avoid this ICAP assignment issue by switching from ICAP obligations to options. We find that such a proposal may fail to not provide the benefits claimed and suffers from several practical difficulties. Finally, we conclude with some policy recommendations and areas for future research.
