  • The korea Electric Railway feeder voltage is DC 1500V and AC 250000V. The auxiliary power supply of the vehicle auxiliary power units for domestic electrical feed has been developed with domestic technology hyeonchae mounted station, and domestic uses, such as voltage, have been exported to other countries. However, do not use at domestic that can be used for DC 3000V voltage auxiliary power unit does not develop, vehicle exports global. This has already been replaced by imported products from other nations is a real situation. Thus, our auxiliary power unit for the DC 3000V was developed, it will be exported to Ukraine. In this paper, We introduced circuit and structure of developed auxiliary power supply unit, and verified the performance with output characteristic of the auxiliary power unit.

  • Due to the characteristics of the vehicle structure, the magnetic levitation train has a confined bottom space thus a study on miniaturization and weight reduction of auxiliary power unit is essential. This auxiliary power unit is an essential device used for illumination, air conditioning, heating and air brake equipment excluding the motor. The previous auxiliary power unit for magnetic levitation train has used the hard switching having a high switching frequency with heavy loss in order to reduce the size of filter reactor and transformer but the reduction in volume was not significant. In this paper, by reducing the loss, reducing the size of the cooling unit and by increasing the switching frequency using the soft switching of resonant converter, it has miniaturized and reduced the weight of filter reactor and transformer which occupy significant space in the auxiliary power unit. This study has verified the performance of 50KVA grade prototype through simulated interpretation and analysis, and compared the size and weight of auxiliary power unit of the previous magnetic levitation train.

  • Currently under development is an airborne auxiliary power unit with 100 Kw equivalent power, which is composed of a centrifugal compressor, a reverse annular combustor, and a radial turbine. Air-foil bearings are used in this power unit to eliminate the oil supplying system, which can reduce the system complexity and weight. The high speed generator is adopted as an electric power generation and engine starting system, which can also eliminate the reduction gear system. Not only electric power but also pneumatic power is provided by bleeding the compressed air This power unit is aimed for the multi-purpose use such as a primary power unit In the army weapon system, an auxiliary power and environmental control unit in a next-generation tank, and a smoke generating unit.

  • 보조동력장치(Auxiliary Power Unit: APU)는 항공기에 장착되어 주엔진의 지상 및 공중 시동을 위한 에너지를 공급하고 항공기의 비상 및 보조 전원을 공급하는 역할을 하는 소형 가스터빈엔진이다. 항공기용 APU는 구조가 간단하고 소형이지만 유인 항공기에 장착되기 때문에 높은 신뢰성이 요구되므로 인증 절차를 통하여 그 신뢰성을 입증하여야 한다. 한국항공우주연구원은 2007년부터 2012년까지 한화 테크윈과 함께 축적된 국내 연구개발 역량 및 경험을 바탕으로 헬리콥터용 APU의 설계/해석, 제작 및 조립, 개발시험 및 인증시험을 평가를 성공적으로 완료하였다. 본 논문에서는 헬리콥터용 보조동력장치의 개발 및 인증 과정에 대하여 정리하였다.

  • FA-50 항공기 보조동력장치는 추력을 제외한 항공기의 동력을 생성하는 장치로 항공기 감항성 유지를 위해 매우 중요한 요소이다. 또한, 보조동력장치의 입구안내익은 로드압축기로 유입되는 공기 유량을 조절하여 적절한 공기량이 보조동력장치 내부로 공급되도록 유도하는 장치이다. 본 논문에서는 FA-50 항공기 보조동력장치 입구안내익 구동기어에서 발생한 문제점을 바탕으로, 발생원인, 고장탐구결과, 설계개선 내용을 기술하였으며, 개선된 연구에 대해 비행시험검증 결과를 함께 소개한다.

  • The railway vehicle has an auxiliary power unit for supplying power to the associated electronic control devices and passenger service unit. Typically, input voltage from the catenary for rolling stock is highly fluctuating according to the substation capacity, vehicle propulsion and regeneration. Especially, the frost and freezing on contact wire in winter can cause a blackout inside vehicle, and also brings about electronic components damaging and the system down. To prevent this problem, a large filter and capacitor is used. But this is not a perfect solution, because it is increasing weight of the unit. In this paper, a new algorithm is proposed to suppress the disturbance without adding devices. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has performance to suppress the disturbance at the sudden input voltage variations.

  • Power Control and Distribution Unit (PCDU) plays roles of power generation control for solar array panel, power storage control for battery system, power conversion for unregulated and regulated primary bus and power distribution to bus and payload system. The selection and design of the proper auxiliary power interface for PCDU depending on various mission is one of the most important step for electrical power subsystem design. In this paper, the general design approach of auxiliary power interface for PCDU which can be used for small-sized LEO satellites application is given. And, the auxiliary power design concept for always alived modules such as solar array regulator and house keeping module is also suggested.

헬리콥터용 보조동력장치 고공성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Research on the Altitude Performance of an Auxiliary Power Unit for Helicopters)

  • An APU(Auxiliary Power Unit) for helicopters has been developed in Korea and tested at the AETF(altitude engine test facility) in KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) for the purpose of the military qualification. A cell correlation test was performed before the official test, and the results are within the tolerance. The APU has the capability of supplying electric power as well as compressed air to the helicopters. It was tested at bleed extraction conditions, electric power extraction conditions, and maximum continuous concurrent power conditions within the entire helicopter flight envelop. Some special test equipments were implemented for the measurement of air flowrate, electric power and so on. The tests were successfully performed and their results satisfy the requirements of the helicopters.

  • 항공기 엔진과 보조동력장치는 안전성에 기반하여 감항성 기준과 인증절차에 따라 반드시 인증을 받도록 규정하고 있다. 항공기 엔진은 형식증명을 통하여 설계와 제작에 대한 적합성을 입증하여야 하며, 보조동력장치의 경우는 기술표준품 표준서에서 요구하고 있는 최소성능표준(Minimum Performance Standards)에 대하여 설계와 생산에 대한 적합성을 입증하여야 한다. 우리나라는 항공기 엔진에 대한 항공기기술기준으로 Part 33을 제정하고 있으나, 보조동력장치에 대한 인증 기준은 고시되지 않은 상태이다. 항공기 엔진과 보조동력장치의 개발과 인증체계 구축은 우리나라 항공 산업을 한단계 향상시킬 수 있는 계기가 될 것이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 항공기 엔진 및 보조동력장치에 대한 인증 현황을 통하여 개선 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

8200호대 전기기관차용 기존품 보조전원장치의 수명주기비용 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Life Cycle Cost Evaluation of the Conventional Auxiliary Power Unit for 8200 Series Electric Locomotive)

  • In this paper, the life cycle cost of the auxiliary power unit in the conventional 8200 series electric locomotive is evaluated and an effective life cycle cost reduction method is sought. For this, a life cycle cost evaluation model was proposed using IEC 60300-3-3 standard. As a result of analysis, material cost which accounted for a large percentage of preventive maintenance cost, accounted for 64% of total cost, and breakdown maintenance cost was as high as 27%. Except for the cost of preventive maintenance, the breakdown maintenance cost ratio was the highest. In order to reduce the LCC of the auxiliary power unit(APU) of the 8200 series in the future, it is necessary to reduce the material cost in case of development and to secure the high reliability according to the parts manufacturing so as to minimize the maintenance cost.
